Thanks gixxer
Thats not bad but i dont remember everyone asking for that but sweet might have to get one and try it out. The chassis kinda reminds me of the associated tc3 touring car on steriods lol.

scarletboa 10.08.2009 05:06 PM

i really like what they did with the transmission and the diffs. for the first time since the e-revo came out, i'm impressed with traxxas. i'm afraid to see the pricetag though. i'm guessing $400-450. it comes with that retarded vxl esc though:no:

crazyjr 10.08.2009 05:09 PM

I got to admit, I'm impressed. Best combo of old parts and new thinking in a few years. stampede shocks and body and wheels, stampede as it truly should be

electric 10.08.2009 05:12 PM

Yea me to but could do without the VXL system, i do like the tires really gives it that realistic look. probably want come out til the new year so shouldnt get to excited about it.

JThiessen 10.08.2009 05:18 PM

Basically a 10th scale truggy. Not bad, but nothing spectacular. Likely standard F.O.R.D. Traxxas stuff.....................

Looks easily modifiable, though.

Finnster 10.08.2009 05:22 PM

Not too bad, I guessed a 4wd slash, but was hoping 5th scale.
Kinda surprising as they already have the slayer, but it sucks, so this is its replacement.
Nice it has Revo diffs. Finally making 'em HD out of the box.

Bondonutz 10.08.2009 05:23 PM

Now thats pretty kewl, wonder how much ?
I really like how they moved the motor around like that and many other features.
To bad TRX always sells stuff RTR rather 80% or kits like most others.

I will consider getting one,now that I run a 1/8 buggy on a track on weekends I'm getting bit by the SC truck bug again. Was thinking real serious about a SC10 but would much rather a 4X4 fer sure ! Time to thin the herd,Again !

lincpimp 10.08.2009 05:25 PM

Revo diffs, 32p spur and 4wd. I like the idea, and i also like the fact that it is sturdy enough to put some pede talons on and a tmaxx body and have a light weight MT!!! I will have to pick one of these up, perfect for a hacker c50 L can and 4-5s lipo.

Looks like traxxas actually made a new vehicle, and used a few parts from the old stuff. Lower arms look like pede rears, I am sure the rear hubs are pede, the front knuckles will be new. The steering setup looks better than the slash, and the chassis appears to be a bit lower than the slash 2wd as well. All good stuff.

gixxer 10.08.2009 05:35 PM

to me it basically seems like a cheap electric 8th scale. slash and an 8th scale buggy are basically the same size. just with it being all plastic its going to be lighter and able to run the 2s pack.

I might get it but it really depends on the price. Would sell the electronics though.

It's still not a Pro-4 :whip: Definitely a 4wd SC truck, though. Pro-4 requires solid rear axle!

I guess this truck's a step in the right direction, but it will take more than this for Traxxas to impress me. At least they're trying though...

It says new driveshafts, but from what I can tell they look like the older style (2wd).

ZippyBasher 10.08.2009 05:58 PM

I am hoping the body is 1/2 to 1" longer and wider.
SC8ight. :whip: The Slayer body is 12" wide need about 13" The body looks way better than the stock slash.

Whats with the Charger and NIMH???
Velineon System???

C'mon...

Same size as a Slash. At least on the RCCA site they say 2wd Slash bodies are a direct fit.

jayjay283 10.08.2009 06:18 PM

Thats pretty cool, 4wd slash with vxl ( the new ones work well) I was expecting something alot more lame. ill give it an 8

Im not overly enthused, but its nice for traxxas to have a 4x4 to compete with the other 4x4 corr vehicles. Erevo diffs in a 1/10 vehicle is good though yeah, and the lower CoG looks promising for aftermarket varients- stick longer arms on it and call it a 1/10 truggy?...

junkman 10.08.2009 06:22 PM

must admit I am pleasantly suprised.

maxair45 10.08.2009 06:32 PM

Do I see a 4wd slash racing class starting up? I'd buy one if they did. Maybe the titan xl5 esc for spec racing? or 13.5.....???? Just an idea

YogyBrushless 10.08.2009 06:32 PM

before i was wanting to get a slash but dismissed for several reasons, now Traxxas got me thinking about it again !! damn them i really don't need a 6th vehicle.

RCShocker 10.08.2009 06:46 PM

Just what we needed Traxxa$$.....NOT!!!

Thank goodness I never really cared one way or the other.

TexasSP 10.08.2009 06:50 PM

This actually looks like a platform you could get some serious speed out of. If it's sub 300 they will sell the snot out of them. The center diff upgrade is a nice touch as well, although I think it should have come stock. It is supposed to be a racer after all.

gtxracer 10.08.2009 07:07 PM

Well after looking at it, I want one. The BFGs, the new body, and the new design sold me. The Velineon system is icing on the cake, as is the included battery, although I'll just use lipos.

Anyone hear about the price, for sure? If it is sub 300, that would be fantastic. I have a feeling it won't be though. If they wanted to sell a ton of them, that would be the way to go. Would put everyone else out of business! Or at least make them lower prices. SC racing should be about keeping it CHEAP.

Me too. I'd written off most TRX veh, liked the slash, but not quite good enough/better than my old rustler to push me to get one.

This could be very cool, assuming its not crazy priced like the SC8.

simplechamp 10.08.2009 07:10 PM

"Power up to the Mamba Monster (it drops right in) and 80mph+ is within your reach."

LOL

In all seriousness though it looks pretty neat. I'm waiting to see what pricepoint they'll start it at. Would be nice if they also eventually released an XL-5 version for those of us who don't want to pay a bunch for the VXL system that will be getting taken out anyway.

rootar 10.08.2009 07:18 PM

im thinking like linc.....

throw some power at it (for me it would be my 9l and 3s), some big 1/10th tires possibly badlands, moabs, or the stock WK's for serious mt action and then a t or e-maxx body and you have a hell of a play truck....

76Bentley 10.08.2009 07:33 PM

Well I was off the mark, but I think this is pretty cool and has potential. Like a lot of you guys have pointed out, light weight, 4wd with Revo diffs......I don't know about putting the MMM in it, but it did get me thinking about the soon to be released MM Pro.

emaxx 101 10.08.2009 07:37 PM

Wow! im impressed with traxxas. Makes me wish i would have not just bought a slash 2wd

Snipin_Willy 10.08.2009 07:50 PM

I'm gonna throw this out there:
Sub $300? Fat chance. Look at the price of their brushless Mini's. They're already pushing $300. Maybe if they push it out as a Bind & Drive, but they can't hardly do that without some type of contract with horizon hobbies. Because it's electric, I think it will sell better than then slayer. But, there are already so many 2wd SC trucks popping up from all the companies bringing their own platform to the table that I think the 2wd SC classes will still be the largest at my local tracks. Besides, 2wd is cheap and fun. I'm still undecided on which one I wanna get: Slash is fat, SC10 is frail as, Strike is a maybe, and no reviews out for the Blitz because HPI has dragged their feet on the release date.

I'm so depressed that there is hardly anyone in Tulsa that runs 1/8 stuff.

SpEEdyBL 10.08.2009 08:24 PM

I can see 1/10 guys who don't want too spend too much $$$ buying new lipos, charger, esc, and motor slapping on a 1/8 buggy body, wheels, and tires, and entering a 1/8 buggy race. The dimensions aren't a whole lot different other than the fact that it will ride higher.

BlackedOutREVO 10.08.2009 08:28 PM

Thats actually pretty sweet. I will have to buy one so I have something to beat the piss out of again!

Blacked out 4wd slash coming up

Finnster 10.08.2009 09:06 PM

We haven't zeroed in on the final price, but it'll be under $400 and in stores for early December. Three hundo might be doable for a brushed/AM radio/no battery combo, but Slash 4X4 is brushless, with a 2.4GHz radio and a high-quality 7-cell NiMH battery. Not cheap, but definitely a great value. Can't wait to get mine!

The guys at BYT already explained thats just the advert for the slash & slayer further down the page- look at the dimensions for that code you posted- 272x180 pixels is tiny, the video is more like ~800x 600 pixels.

Not to worry though, all will be revealed shortly...

Oh ok...
I called it guys.. Personally I think i like it and will want to pick it up and run a MMM combo on 6s and have some crazy nice runtimes... I Personally think it looks good and a nice design. Good job Traxxas.

JAILBIRD 10.08.2009 09:13 PM

I must say I am a bit impressed. I do like the chassis design but not the VXL system. If TRX releases a brushed version like with the 1/16 I'll be all over that.

A Novak HV 6.5 and 3s should power nicely ?
JConcepts new Slash Body should be cool also ?

I like! I may have to reconsider my position (that I've held for over twenty years) to never own a Traxxas vehicle!

redshift 10.08.2009 10:36 PM

I was actually hoping to eat my words, but dammit I guess that VXL Maxx just ain't happening...

The only thing that strikes me as a real improvement is the shaft drive/ midship motor, and Tamiya was doing this years ago, my mind remains thoroughly un-blown.

That velly is gonna cook there too, if the ESC lasts long enough.

Erevocanuck 10.08.2009 10:45 PM

I`d like to strip the S.C. truck stuff off & make myself a 4x4 Stampede :mdr:

Yep, I have wanted to build a 4x4 pede for years, but not with 2 trannies.

Hopefully they bring out a xl5 model sans 7 cell nimh... Then it will be around 200 bucks like the xl5 pede etc... I would buy it then, and sell the xl5 and titan for 40-50 bucks... 150 for a roller with servo is a great price IMO, especially since it is new!

Or I can carfully watch ebay and make my own... did that with the slash 2wd... Would rather buy one new. 400 minus 150 for the vxl, and maybe get 50 bucks for the 2.4 radio setup... Not sure what a traxxas nimh will go for, maybe 30 bucks new? Maybe I can do it for 150-175 for the roller that way...

Bondonutz 10.09.2009 12:07 AM

Sell the junky rims and tires, TX/RX, ESC/motor, NiMH and it should off-set the cost quit nicely.

hootie7159 10.09.2009 12:16 AM

i agree...always wanted a 1/10th scale 4wd .... but more durable than the wheely king...and not a buggy.....should look good with mashers and a truck body on it!!! :)
