The 1520 is longer, so it will handle the same power as the 1515 at a higher efficiency, even if the voltage is the same. You can run it on 4S lipo, will be great.
|
Thanks lincpimp and nuz69 for the replies... the 1520 it is!
It should fit the flux without modifications right? |
any idea when these orders will be shipping?
|
This is from day 1:

You want to use the 1520 in the stock length flux? Don't think it will fit, it's close enough with the Desertboy conversion. This stuff is approx. the same length, if you can fit it, the 1520 should aswell. http://blogs.southtownstar.com/money...paper_roll.jpg (used as a mockup on my XL) |
Only message i have recieved from castle is:
This is an automated message acknowledging successful initial processing of your order placed on our website. and that was on the 23rd... |

Something tells me I'll end up getting the 1520 and XL tvps.... I'm scared.... hehehe, wife is not gonna like this.... |
I didn't get a delivery confirmation via email, however I received my in record time!

But at the price of the 1520 right now, you can buy a XL tvp setup and the motor and still be cheaper than the motor's original price. |

All you guys whom haven't received shipping confirmation be patient, I can only imagine how bad Castle was bombarded with orders with those sick prices. |
I was wanting to get a new motor with the prices they're at...just not sure which one.
currently running a jammin x1 crt with the mmm/2200kv combo on 4s don't really want to buy bigger batts right now......so which one should I go with? bashing only, don't do any speed runs just something with good power the 1520? Thanks |
BTW, can anyone who ordered a 1717 check their online invoice (email with this link: https://billpay.quickbooks.com) if it says CAR or AIR version on the invoice?
|

getting scared again..... |

The air version(open endbells) has 1580kv The ground based version has 1500kv It doesn't say which version on my invoice (Car or Air) it just lists the KV |

I got excited and already ordered the 1520 before posting that.....was waiting for my account to be activated and just had to buy it haha Wanted to see if it was a wise choice or if I was going to have to sell it lol |

Mike also sells a F motor cover that is tapped for 3mm holes. You can always get one of these and use this for the motor mount screws just in case something ever does strip out. |

Checked my invoice concerning my 1717 order and it also states that i will receive the air version with 1500kv instead of the initialy ordered car version of the 1717. I have sent an email to christy at castle about this issue.
|
I have no doubt that they will get us the correct motor. They are the best as far as customer service and their product.
|
So the difference is 80kV and the air version has holes in it? Well, the 80kV doesn't matter, and the holes could be covered with aluminum tape. NBD, IMO.
|
Guess you forgot about the fact that the motor wires on the air version are a miserable pita to solder if you want to shorten,or possibly repair them?
|
I know it says "actual motor may vary", but the pic has it with the same leads as the car version... TBH, I don't see why they would be different in that aspect.

Well, my research is now complete. Edit: Now, I have to admit it looks as though the wires on that motor are still an extension of the stator coils because they are retaining that bend pretty well. It might say "OK to shorten" just because of the added length of those extensions. But why would they say that? I know stator extensions are a PITA to solder. I've done it. :) |
I ordered another 1717 car motor, 1580kv, 5mm shaft the 1st day of the sale. The email confirmation from Castle said the right thing, the invoice in the pkg said the right thing, but I received a 1500kv air motor.
Shaft looked big - I measured it and its a 6mm shaft (ad says 5mm for the air motor). I was one that waited months and months to get a 5mm shaft for the orig 1717 I ordered during the Black Friday sale 1717 last year. Don't want to do that again..... I called and was assured it would be straightened out. I've already had email notification of a pkg from Castle. |
So-
80kV, holes in the endbells, 6mm shaft, flattened sides, and it probably has stator extensions for power leads (which are all black). Do the boxes just say 1717 on them with a stock photo and not specifically "Car" or "Heli" version? I'm not bashing ANYBODY here, I'm just trying to figure out how there could be such a mix-up. |
I sent an email to Dena and she said they're fixing my order. Hopefully I'll receive the correct version.
|
Man ... I guess I will have to wait a few weeks before I even see my motors. You guys are all lucky :)
|
Damn, my invoice is the same, it states I ordered a AIR version instead of a CAR version. I e-mailed them, hopefully they will fix this...

"Patrick,
This problem is being addressed and taken care of. Thanks Dena" |
Anyone who received the 1717 AIR instead of the 1717 CAR should have just received an e-mail with details on how to take care of the problem. There was an issue with the part number used on the website, it has since been corrected. Any orders that have not already been invoiced will be adjusted properly. If you have received an e-mail confirmation with an invoice number but did not just receive and e-mail from me, please shoot me a PM and we'll get it sorted out. Sorry for the confusion and inconvenience.

Thomas, just wanted to say thanks for handling this extraordinary sale! Give yourself and the whole crew at CC a pat on the back from us at RC-M!!
|
Thomas,
Good support, great sale  |
I just received an invoice but it stated the car version instead of the heli version I ordered. I send Dena an email for it, will also send you, Thomas, a pb now :)
++ on CS of CC ;) |
"If you are outside of the US, we can provide you with a UPS account number and ship the motor back on our dime."
Good to hear... The nearest UPS here is about 40 miles away  Any other options available? I don't need those dammit Heli things... |
I've been emailing and speaking on the phone with Thomas , and it seems that if you order the car motor you get the air motor or viseversa.:oops:He got my orders all corrected so i'm sure they are already correcting all other orders. I wouldnt want to even imagine how much chaos is going on in their facility with this awsome motor sale. :gasp::lol:

Being a manufacturer, we are used to dealing in 100's of controllers per order, so our sales ladies are not used to 100's of small orders. The system wasn't designed to handle this kind of volume, and then add the monkey wrench into the works of the 1717 snafu and.... my head explodes. We're getting it sorted out though, we really appreciate everyone being understanding and patient. I'm so glad I took off Thursday and Friday to go to the NASCAR race, 3 days this week will be enough. Thomas Porfert Castle Tech Support |
