You should try a big Outrunner directly connected to the rear diff, find like a Big Axi like this
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXPPY6&P=0

or for more power and less money go with this monster

I like the idea, but with direct drive would the Axi have enough torque? And holy horse hockey could it possibly handle that hobbycity motor?:gasp::tongue::surprised::whip:

brushlessboy16 03.20.2008 06:25 PM

the axi might not have enuff ooommmphh..
but that hobbycity one, it should do fine in the baja, just make sure ur mount is strong enuff

The buggy itself is done. I would have to change it quit a bit to run that big motor. It is only 13 lbs rtr. I just need a better motor, and maybe more cells:angel: I did change the gearing to 20/66 and the speed is very nice, but the motor no likey. It got hot pretty quick. I'm not using a heat sink though. I will probably run this setup until the MMM comes out. I think I can fit four more cells to run 8s2p a123 with my mega 22/45/2. I would like to get 20 minutes runtime at about 40mph. Oh, I talked to one of my buddies and he has a camera so I should get a video next week.

Jbreddawg 03.20.2008 09:33 PM

Are you using 40 series rims in the front also ? Or just the back ?

lydiasdad 03.20.2008 09:36 PM

just the rear

Revracer 03.22.2008 05:50 PM

your saying your mega motor gets hot quickly? i just got a 22/30/1 for my revo. it weighs right around 8-9 lbs so how do you think that will do...? bluegrooveconcepts.com used the motor on a 16/36 gearing with 3s and it did great though. low temps and everything.

lydiasdad 03.22.2008 10:49 PM

no, the 9xl is getting rather hot. I'm not running the mega yet.

video

I got a short video today. It doesn't last very long as I blew the diff at the end of the run. I was driving pretty stupidly:lol: I switched to 20/66 gearing and am pretty happy with the speed, but I'm thinking of getting a kb45-10L. I had the data logger on this run and peaked at 1690 watts and 112 amps. I am running with an actual 5b tomorrow and I will get a better video of that.:yipi: http://s283.photobucket.com/albums/k...t=DSCN6290.flv

MTBikerTim 03.28.2008 12:57 AM

Awesome. Still needs more power though . Can't wait to see it compared to a real baja.

The KB45 10l is a bad (good?!) motor, much more powerful than the feigao xl motors. I have not tested my xl kb motors yet, but they should be potent to say the least!

It's just annoying they aren't 5mm shaft and normal hole spacing.

True, but I removed the front endbell and drilled/tapped m3 holes in a 25mm spacing. You could have the shaft turned down, or drill out a pinion. I make my own mounts for these motors, so that is not a big deal for me. They are well worth the hassle, considering the price.

That looks pretty sick... I hope that has enough ballz to beat the baja... a baja with 30.5cc engine is pretty fast and powerful... Hook us up with the video dude, good luck:wink:
