what are those file extensions used for? The cad software? I know they must be the design files of some sort.

brushlessboy16 08.22.2008 01:51 PM

bl-is-future 08.22.2008 01:54 PM

What type of interface do you use with your PC? A controller card of some sort?

I believe this may be a all in one type deal not sure. this is what will come with my stepper motors and control box but it seems this can design certain things but not a total cad type software. http://www.machsupport.com/

Hows AutoCAD? Looking for something to play with.

Well at the moment nothing....
I will have

Sieg X2 Mini Mill (http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=44991)
CNCfusion conversion kit (www.cncfusion.com kit 4)
xylotex controller and stepper motors which will connect via Parallel port of a computer. (http://www.xylotex.com/Econo4AxSpecial.htm)
Will use Mach3 software for Cad to CNC interpretation (http://www.machsupport.com/) and a CAD program i am unsure of yet.

Plan on doing it for profit?

There was a guy who built his own machine on instructables.com

bl-is-future 08.22.2008 03:02 PM

not directly for profit but wouldn't mind dong a few small projects and i have seen that desktop cnc on instructables and figured i might as well get one that can do some big stuff too while i am at it. Also ebay sells the above mills converted to CNC with the software and everything BUT CAD for about 1600.

e-mikey 08.22.2008 03:03 PM

hey, sorry i'm late.
my site has some old stuff on it: http://a4dtm.com

hmm, the only new pics I have are for my job. I design full sized controllers for electric vehicles. but what I'm working on is all concept design right now, and I don't think I'm allowed to show them.. I'll ask about it on Monday, and post if I'm allowed.

e-mikey 08.22.2008 03:05 PM

1600 isnt bad at all.

bl-is-future 08.22.2008 03:12 PM

yeah might just go that route but kind of wanted the self satisfaction that i made it into a cnc, you know what i mean.
