Yeah, once they puff they are done. The internal chemistry in the cell causes the puffing, usually under very high discharge, or a low voltage during discharge. Some of the cells internal turn to gas, so it is damaged internally. I have revived non-puffed cells that discharged to very low voltage slowly, but puffed cells are done.

Nope, Austin. He said they have a totally different source and that they are a big improvement in cell quality. While Jason and I are "less than best friends", Austin and I get along pretty well.

Austin had sent me a 25C 8k pack and it was significantly better than the previous "20C" packs. Who knows about the rest of them? I don't see myself putting any money into their lipos anytime soon, but I am hopeful that the new packs are as good as advertised for those who do purchase them.

Here is some info from the actual PM's:
"It is a different source that the new cells are coming from, yes. We actually will be upgrading all the cells to 30C over the next month or so. The 3000s will become 3250 30C cells(with no increase to price by the way). They will be followed by the 5000 cells, then the 4000 cells.

We tested them at 30 and 35C. They get about 2500mah at 35C constant and almost 3000mah at 30C constant with good temps. They are a winner. Its the best 3000 cell we have ever tested by far.

Lets see... at 35C it would last a little over a minute the way I figure it. I am thinking that there will not be many guys running it at even 30C constant for the 2 minute run time.

Bottom line is that voltage under load will be very high and it should not hit cut off under a short high amp load.

-Austin"
Love them or hate them, it's always nice to see improvement.

I puffed one the 25C 8000 packs! however i had the warranty and now have the 35C 8400's. After 5 runs i can tell these are much much better packs. They dont heat up in either my MMM 2200 or MMM 8XL set ups. They also seem to stay in near perfect balance.

Lipo repair feedback

I just got my lipos back. I'm impressed, they look like new, they're balanced and ready to use.

I spent under $70 with shipping and the repair, easily worth it when my other option was to junk the packs at over $200 each.:yipi:

Insides of a Polyquest 5000 30c 2s hardcase

Got a PQ hardcase from a member here to fix the external wiring. I popped it open and look what I found!

Made in china??? I guess that enerland does have some chinese cells in their lineup, or polyquest is not using enerland cells? I thought that polyquest was enerland's in house brand, but I may be wrong. Anyways here are few other pics of the cells. Note that the cells have the pos tab on one and and the neg tab on the other. I have only seen enerland cells having this feature, as all of the other chinese cells I have seen have the tabs next to each other on one end. Zippy-r packs appear to be made of enerland cells too.

Interesting. So they are Enerland cells? Just made in China?

lincpimp 02.25.2009 04:33 PM

They are the same design as enerland cells, and I have never seen that design used by any other mfg...

Jeremy1976 02.25.2009 04:36 PM

Hmmm, so either they are Enerland or they are bullshitting about the cells in the packs they make... For $130 new for this pack I would hope they are Enerland.
