Seems to me that anyone with half a knowledge in Lipos doesn't use their packs, so they prey on the cashed up newbies who "want to go fast" and simply don't know better.

I liken these morally corrupt tactics to the sub-prime lenders who lent 100% of a house purchase price to people with a bad credit rating and we all know where that ended up.

I can't help but wonder how those in charge at Maxamps contend with other moral issues if they can sleep soundly with their business model.

My 3s 6k Maxamps pack (crappy MA wrapping was falling apart after the first run, that's the pack wrapped in electrical tape and new shrinkwrap):

My Bushmaster XM-15:

Put it downrange and did it justice:

For those that still think Lipos are really unstable, they smoked a lot but never caught fire.

fastbaja5b 03.29.2009 10:45 PM

lol probably didn't have enough power to catch fire!

Unsullied_Spy 03.29.2009 10:50 PM

It was charged a few weeks ago, so yeah it was probably empty already. Gave off a lot of smoke and smelled but from where I was standing I couldn't see flames.

That's some serious hardware you have there... What do you hunt with that?

Lipos, soda cans, old computer parts, ground squirrels, badgers, etc.

Got real rifles for hunting, .223/5.56 NATO is really weak.

Well, it looked powerful anyways! I could't tell what caliber it was- not a gun person myself. At least not the propellant-driven kind. :intello:

It's excellant for varmint, sport shooting, etc. but if you want to bring down an animal you want something that's going to go in and bring it down. No need to make it suffer. I didn't want to use anything too big on it, either, got to be enough of it left to show Jason

 There are a few .50 BMG rifles for sale at some local shops and I want one really badly but I'd have a hard time fitting it into my car. That would absolutely decimate a lipo though, a single shot would leave very little of it left and what would be left would be tiny pieces scattered across that bay of the shooting range. I only had the lipo about 25 yards out (we were all strung up on caffeine, much farther away and none of us could hit anything ) and at that range use of a .50 caliber is suicide (the round could ricochet back and hit someone, and having the energy to seriously injure them, I wouldn't shoot a .50 at anything less than 100 yards). We did have a bunch of 12 gauge slugs (.58 caliber) but that wouldn't have left enough left either, plus we were trying to save them for the computer parts and Steve (the fake deer that we found laying in a friend's yard).

I really can't see a .50 round bouncing off of anything...too much energy. Either it disintegrates, or goes straight through! Shooting one that close would be exciting though!

lincpimp 03.30.2009 01:08 AM

Yeah, 50 BMG can shoot thru 2-3 feet of dirt... I like something full auto myself, like an ak74.

...Ouch. I would've asked for a refund of the pack so I could get a new truck- or two!
