E-Revonut 07.28.2009 12:19 PM

Just an FYI, at the bash on Sunday there was a rx8 in a buggy that went up in flames, I was a marshal and got it off the track. Battery wires unsoldered from the deans and I beleive the posts as well. There was another rx8 that had issues but nothing so spectacular. And to keep things fair here I myself smoked a Mamba Monster. So both ESCs still have there share of failures

I wonder if the battery leads shorted causing the fire?

My RX8 held up to two consecutive days of abuse just fine. (raced Sat & at the Bash Sun...)

E-Revonut 07.28.2009 01:24 PM

Well where the battery was soldered to he deans still had the shrink on it so that pointwasnt the problem, but that's not saying one didn't come off the esc and short out against something. The power wires where unsoldered from the esc and the deans, then on the pack side they where also unsoldered from the deans

if the power wires came off the speedo that is not a good sign. Chances are that there was a cold solder joing and wires touched...no good for anyone.

New rotor failed...

I was racing yesterday, got new rotor from tekin some time ago, no problem so far. It was long main with nitros and I was like "well we will see if it will hold up" I was first after changing batteries, so I slowed down not to rush things.
Well long story short, car started to go slow and I didn't reallized that it is rotor out from magnet again. I guessed it's because I put wrong batery in (it was long day) so I went slow about 1 40 sec lap. It was 2mins to end of main so I hoped to finish really slow.
My bad, magnet was out from shaft, therefore temperature went to skies and I guess rotor is demagnetized a bit now.
Still finished second, but quite a dissapointment.

easily, old rotor has 100% failure rate among guys I am racing with, me included, so this is rotor I personaly replaced old one with.. and it's looking slightly different too.

TekinTeamMgr 08.16.2009 10:37 PM

The old rotor isn't 100% failure rate. I've still got one in my 1900 and have since day one.

We've seen only a handful(less than 5 last I counted) of the new style. We're investigating any failures as always...

Contact support@teamtekin.com so we can get you back up to speed.

my first rotor went on the first pack. was replaced with the same style rotor and is still working fine. I did have a problem with the bec since then though and had to send back in the esc.

well we got 5tekins, all of them were dead before second race day. Just 100% among us. Some ppl might get lucky and old rotor is still fine, some ppl are just unlucky (like me) and have new style broken already.

mail sent yesterday. Hoping for fast solution.

so far so good for me, im still useing the first rotor too

My first rotor (the original one) failed within 4-5 laps of first running, which was a little disappointing. However, I emailed Tekin, and they sent out a new rotor, without a fuss, and I received it the day before the next race meeting. It then ran the whole meeting without issue, and I'm rather liking this RX8/T8 lark. Just wish that the Hotwire was compatible with Vista 64.

Yep my new rotor's just gone as well, 2nd time out total of about 27mins running, not even racing yet, just taking it (relatively) gently, have e-mailed Tekin, hopefully they are as good as everyone says.
