Does the motor mount split? looks like the front mount is 2 piece?

rootar 01.14.2010 01:15 PM

Where is the servo mount plate/rx tray/transponder mount? Should have one I thought.

Why did you flip the arm on the servo saver to run the inboard steering linkage?

rootar 01.14.2010 02:50 PM

Mike forgot to send my servo tray piece but then he had the idea to see if flipping the servo arm around to so if it would work and it does. so i think he is gonna work on a Rx box to go in the new found space....

jhautz 01.14.2010 03:18 PM

Hmm... I looked at the flipped servo saver arm when I originally built mine and it either contacted the steering link plate or was really, really close. Its been a while now though. Gonna have to look at that again.

rootar 01.14.2010 03:19 PM

it is very close to the steering link but it goes lock to lock without actually contacting the steering link.

Reversed steering doesn't work on my XT8'09, it hits and left trow is reduced 25%.

can one use the 52 mod1 spur?

rootar 01.15.2010 07:41 PM

im getting 100% throw both ways and ive got 2mm of clearance at full left.

jhautz 01.15.2010 09:18 PM

I double checked on mine and it won't work either. The 09 has the CF ackerman plate and it's wider than the aluminum one on the older XT8 so it would hit sooner. Also I have the aluminum hubs that I dremeled a little to get more steering throw so that's not helping.

moogenite 01.16.2010 04:43 AM

me too have alu hubs and dremeled them for more trow.

Rootar has the carbon ackerman too, where is the difference then?

jhautz 01.16.2010 09:19 AM

Maybe the difference is just the hubs then? Not sure.

rootar 01.16.2010 12:44 PM

i havent dremeled these hubs for more throw yet.... they are off an xb8 buggy i have. but if i did dremel them for more toe i could swap back to the older aluminum steering link and gain another 3-4mm of clearance for more throw.....

im not sure what exactly is hitting the steering link on yalls trucks either the plastic ball cups or the servo saver but i put i just put a shim under the servo saver to just barely lower the ball link and now when it goes full lock if it kept going the steering lnk would go inbetween the ball cup and the servo saver all the way to the ball studs post... so thats another 4mm of clearance

moogenite 01.16.2010 02:35 PM

with a 2mm shim mine hits with the flange on the ballstudd and i need maybe 2mm more trow to left to get full travel.

i could shave the flange...
