Okay, I'll stay with the 16/66 gearing then. I really did love the performance geared like that, I'm just paranoid about reliabiliy right now. This is my 3rd BL system in 1 month. HV MAXX still at NOVAK, 9918/9L shipped back today, 30150/9L shipping in tomorrow (I hope). It's been a rough month for me. ;-{

Okay, thanks for trying. At least we know for sure now...

Yeah, that is a pretty expensive month you have going! I once blew up three controllers in one night! Two due to carelessness and the other was a Schulze (you never know why these go sometimes). It was a bad night for sure! What happened with the Novak?

MadDog 03.08.2005 08:14 PM

I wish i had the money to just buy another esc, but i dont. I spent all the money i had to build my maxx, im flat broke right now and all i want to do is drive it but i cant :'(

Mike, what do you think? Send it in?

Why don't you go ahead and send it back to me. I will see if I can figure it out myself first (plug it into the computer and try to program it there via cable - this provides some historical info as well). Ifg I can't figure out the problem, I will have to send it back to Germany.

MadDog 03.08.2005 08:18 PM

Alright, whats the address?

How long do you think it will take?

RC-Monster Mike 03.08.2005 08:19 PM

Looks like we were both typing at the same time! I understand the money thing, too. Perhaps Something will click when I get it. What radio do you use again?

MadDog 03.08.2005 08:20 PM

I tried a stock e-maxx remote and JR XS3

It worked correctly for 1 day. Then progerssivly got to the point it wouldn't even run. It's been in Novaks hands for about a week now. I'm waiting for CharlieS to tell me what the cause was. Just before it died, it started thermaling a lot too... That must be the common thing for BL that's dieing. It's the cancer for them I suppose. It didn't have any controller issues though, it was always luke warm to the touch.

RC-Monster Mike 03.08.2005 08:32 PM

The controller is what usually thermals (not the motor). If the motor had a damaged winding, it would cause the controller to be more likely to thermal. I am curious what the cause of death was. Did the performance slowly get worse until it kicked the bucket, or did it suddenly die or did it start to thermal more and more until it finally quit?

MadDog 03.08.2005 08:34 PM

Ok im confused now, who are you talking to? lol

I called it thermaling because (according to Novak tech, the flashing led indicated thermaling) yet the esc was cool. My understanding is that the motor it's self is sensored for thermal readings and the system will shut down if the motor it's self is too hot, as well as when the esc is too hot. That could be incorrect info. but that's what I was told, so I just assumed the motor thermaled.

Performance slowly got worse until it kicked the bucket.
