I had a really bad experience with FD years ago & I would never recommend them for anything, because, their designs certainly aren't fine!!

I have my battery mounted exactly where the tank used to be & wheelies can be controlled quite easily by lowering the suspension. Mine is mostly used for speed runs anyway, so, being lower is much better for me.

I agree with overdriven on the possible damage too. Pull your diffs & check them & while you're at it get the TiNi crown & pinion gears for your diffs, they will last longer.

I have heard of people using metal diffcasings too with great results, but, I never bothered & have had no troubles so far......touch wood!

Good luck with it & keep us posted.....give us some pics!!

I completely did away with the transmission set up in mine and fabbed up a solid spool with the motor sitting on top. I don't like transmissions...to many moving parts to fail.

This 42 finned motor would fit the motor mount right? I know awhile back some said they should fit, just wanted to check before I bought.

one other question, unless i'm wrong, the front and rear of the truck are the same, my battery box is currently mounted on the rear where the fuel tank would be. Can i mount it up front where the radio box is? Same mounting points, be very easy and just move the radio box? My concern is this would put the battery too far forward and mess up handling or wheelies. I would like it to do some wheelies and stuff.

The Losi mount is 43mm inside diameter. I mounted the Losi conversion tray up front on my truck, but I did not use the stock mounting points of the tray. In my opinion handling benefits from the battery being up front. On power steering is improved tremendously and the truck will still wheely easily even on 4s.

Thanks, I wasn't clear about the battery, I was going to mount it up front in front of the transmission where the servos would be like many people do, but since it already has holes and mounts in the back where the fueltank was, I figured I might mount it up front where the radio box is since the mount should be the same. But that puts it further up front and also up a bit so didn't know if that would be too forward.
