Just normal anodizing. The input shaft gear I ground down a bit on the G1 side of the case and it seemed to help with riding on that bearing.

Thats a nice man toy you have there Joe. The Maxx truck is alive and well. Now this is a truck worth putting into R/C Action Magazine. You are creating a SuperMaxx that has not been done before. Thanks for sharing.

Did not get a whole lot done tonight, wifey and I spent some time watching TV getting caught up after her long shifts over the weekend. But I sat down and actually realized these might be one of the nicest pieces on this rig now that I opened the package up and felt them. Sold my Dave Mustaine Signature Jackson guitar for these bad boys. Hopefully be able to get them TiN coated some day, that would be bad azz. I have only seen Eric's and can just imagine how sweet it must look in person.

These CVD's are soooo nice, very light on weight. 30g / 1.0 oz per CVD, nut, spacer and hex. Bought them from Mike with 4hrs left on his Ebay sale, decided I would enjoy these more than my Jackson since I never played anymore. Well just never got any better I guess I would say.....haha I am a better RC pilot than guitar player....LOL! :rofl:

Didn't get any farther this evening, I don't have anything going on tomorrow other than doing laundry so I will have a good amount of time to wrench and get my hinge pins cut and notched for the VBS. I have Plastix ejector pins to make them out of for the VBS.

I have the 6mm Titanium UE CVDs and never thought about getting them TiN coated. Do you have someone that can do that, and do you have an idea of the approximate cost? Are you talking about trying to get that dark iridescent bluish-purple color? That would definitely would be very bad azz!!!!!!

TiN = titanium nitride coating, it's the gold colored coating you usually see on shock shafts and drill bits. It makes the surface more resistant to wear and reduces friction. TiN cvd's would definitely be different, and would be a really nice accent on both trucks.

Yep that "dark iridescent bluish-purple color" is right. I know there is a few different processes with Ti and the results are different colors. That is cool you have the 6mm Ti ones, these the CV shaft, Axle and Hex are all Titanium on this set. Only a few sets ever made to my knowledge and I am proud to have one of the sets, set me back a few pennies though.....:oh:

I do not have a definite shop yet for this process, still looking here locally. I want to do these and my pillow balls.

Once I find a shop for a reasonable price I will let you know. Eric said it was pretty costly but I had one other friend say he can get it done for right around $80. December was the time frame he quoted me when the shop could take my business so I hope that is still a possibility. I will have to see when that time rolls around. It for sure looks awesome though! My friend told me he got his done in Red but I have yet to find any Ti coatings in Red?? I am still waiting to see a picture of them, they sound spectacular.

Yes I wish mine were totally Ti, but like you said a completly all Ti set is very rare. what size is the hex on those 8mms? In the grand scheme of things $80.00 is really nothing let me know if you find a shop. I will try to find a shop here in Houston and I will let you know if I can find a better price.

They are 14mm, I have one set of custom made 17mm hexes to fit the 8mm CVD's also. I am saving them for one day to hopefully find a set of the UE Monster 17mm rims. Those also are a very rare item it seems.

Well I learned something today! Didn't know there were so many variations and that the blueish finish was a Ti coating.

They were made by one of our UE Elders on the forum over there, I paid $100 shipped for mine. They are just about obsolete unless you can get someone to let go of theirs. I just sold my set of 6mm ones and a set of CVD's to another one of our UE members because I had my 8mm ones and knew I would never sell them. He was very happy to get them. There were some custom sets with extra holes drilled in them to save the weight, they are chunky those little guys. But mine are the standard ones. I installed a set of 8mm CVD's in the Predator in this thread and I have one more set of 8mm's to go in my next build which will be included in this thread once it is started. That is why I kept my set for one of the other two trucks, these ones will not be separated from this truck because the wheels are specific to this build.
