Another small update:
Since I got my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, I've been wanting to watch movies from the media server on it. But I can't seem to find an android media player that will play the ISO files directly without some issue. The Daroon Player does play ISOs over wifi, but there is a delay between the video and audio. It's like watching an old Godzilla movie! So if anyone knows of a android media player app (my tab is not rooted and is running android 4.0.4 ice cream sandwich) that will play ISOs natively, let me know. In the meantime, I used handbrake to convert some of my favorite movies to MP4, put them in a different shared folder, and play them over wi-fi. But this means I have duplicate files (even though the MP4 files are about 1/4 the size of the raw ISOs) and requires yet more storage space. I'm literally filling up 7TB pretty quickly. :oh: But this also allows my wife's Kindle Fire to play them too, so it's not a total waste. I will say the kids are getting spoiled though. The other day, my 4 year old was using the Kindle Fire in my wife's car and complained she couldn't find any movies (my wi-fi doesn't reach several miles, lol). I tried to explain about network scope, but I think she's still too young to get it - heck, even my 11 year-old stepson doesn't seem to get it! |
