glassdoc, are you sure? I'm not saying my way is right, but I've always said Fee Ay Go.
|
I heard others use the Fee-AY-GO pronounciation. Not sure if it's right.
I may buy another brand just so I don't have to pronounce it! JK! |
Asking one of my Chinese collegues at work, he pronounced it "Fey - Gaow" or as close as my gringo ears can translate it. I think GD has it right.
He aslo said Fei means "flying" and Gao means "high", so the Name would translate "flying high" which makes sense for a brushless motor/esc company. |
Shawn Palmer and Mike Cronin both said it like that... fa-gouw maybe that spelling says it better.
|
Someone who can say it correctly should post an MP3 of them saying it. :)
|
That's why I finally decided to get the Neu. At least I can pronounce that.
Except now when I tell someone I am getting a Neu motor, they think I'm saying "New" and ask, "What brand is it? :D |

LOL!
well, i'd like to hear you folks say 'plettenberg' or 'schulze' the right way.. That guy who makes the neu motors is a member on rcgroups.. sneu is his name.. (referring to his own name, S Neu. ) 'sneu' means 'pathetic' in Dutch.. |

If anyone watches Futurama, 'sneu-sneu' means something in English too! :005: |
This screams for elaboration for the foreigner..

Cart: I see you understand! |
That makes sense now. Thanks Brian.
Those simpson makers have got a nice twist of humor.. |
Who the heck comes up with all these names anyway..Feigao, Neu, Lehner, Schuzle. No wonder they haven't hit mainstream with names like Schuzle, and models like 12020, or Future-45HE, 88FO etc :D Least theres no confusion over how to say Mamba :)
|
As far as the brands go; I'd imagine most are the designer's/maker's name. The '12020' is simple enough; 120A, 20 cells. The rest sound like pure whim. :)
