glassdoc, are you sure? I'm not saying my way is right, but I've always said Fee Ay Go.

Procharged5.0 10.03.2006 05:09 PM

I heard others use the Fee-AY-GO pronounciation. Not sure if it's right.

I may buy another brand just so I don't have to pronounce it! JK!

Asking one of my Chinese collegues at work, he pronounced it "Fey - Gaow" or as close as my gringo ears can translate it. I think GD has it right.

He aslo said Fei means "flying" and Gao means "high", so the Name would translate "flying high" which makes sense for a brushless motor/esc company.

glassdoctor 10.03.2006 11:16 PM

Shawn Palmer and Mike Cronin both said it like that... fa-gouw maybe that spelling says it better.

BrianG 10.04.2006 09:32 AM

Someone who can say it correctly should post an MP3 of them saying it. :)

Rcaddict 10.04.2006 10:20 AM

That's why I finally decided to get the Neu. At least I can pronounce that.

Except now when I tell someone I am getting a Neu motor, they think I'm saying "New" and ask, "What brand is it? :D

You just can't win can you? :005:

LOL!

well, i'd like to hear you folks say 'plettenberg' or 'schulze' the right way..

That guy who makes the neu motors is a member on rcgroups.. sneu is his name.. (referring to his own name, S Neu. ) 'sneu' means 'pathetic' in Dutch..

Looks like we need MP3 clips of lots of stuff then (although I'd stick to products Mike carries). Like 'Lehner' for instance...

If anyone watches Futurama, 'sneu-sneu' means something in English too! :005:

Serum 10.04.2006 11:50 AM

This screams for elaboration for the foreigner..

The mind is willing, but the flesh is spongy and bruised. (Or something along those lines) lol!

Futurama is a cartoon (set in the future - hence the name) from the makers of the Simpsons. The crew goes out somewhere and crashes into a planet (driving a bistro no less IIRC) inhabited by a race of pre-literate, club-weilding, fur-wearing, large, volumptuous, amazon females. The males were eradicated at some point, so they capture shipwrecked males of any species and the females form a long line to repeatedly use them for procreation, called snu-snu - whether willing or not. This might not sound so bad if the females weren't like 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall. Of course, most of the humorous aspect of the show is lost in translation, but you get the basic idea now.

Cart: I see you understand!

That makes sense now. Thanks Brian.

Those simpson makers have got a nice twist of humor..

Who the heck comes up with all these names anyway..Feigao, Neu, Lehner, Schuzle. No wonder they haven't hit mainstream with names like Schuzle, and models like 12020, or Future-45HE, 88FO etc :D Least theres no confusion over how to say Mamba :)

BrianG 10.04.2006 02:09 PM

As far as the brands go; I'd imagine most are the designer's/maker's name. The '12020' is simple enough; 120A, 20 cells. The rest sound like pure whim. :)
