Sweet, Twin Force trays are the best out there!

I raced my Savage today, think I killed something in the tranny, gonna start looking on ebay to see how much this type of conversion would be.......just to kind of price it.

Let me know what died in the tranny, my guess is that the 2nd speed failed. that ring came loose or the pawl got stucked, or the pawl killed the 2nd speed gear. No biggy, HPI has got a heavy duty 2nd speed. The savage tranny is very reliable, in germany they use it with 24 cells and a 2240. (exept for that 2nd speed part)

The 2speed transmission is nice imo. It gives the truck a better acceleration and a higher topspeed.. So i would leave that on if i where you.

I recently got a Truckzilla Savage and I'm thinking of going brushless. I really like the mod. I thought about dropping a 3spd trans from a Mad Force in it with a nitro motor but seeing these brushless monsters in action I just have to make it electric.

The only question: what parts do I need to make this modification or is this modification not possible because its a Truckzilla version? (larger then stock Savvy)

Any help would be verry appreciated.

Thanks,

PWND from The Netherlands

Heya Mack!

thanks for the welcome. Yup Dutch guys seem to have the strange habbit to turn there Savvy in to a brushless beast :L:

Thanks for the help with the brushless combo but I really meant the Twin Force tranny mod. If this would work on a Truckzilla Savvy. I'm sorry if I wasn't that clear.

Thanks for the help so far I appreciate it.

Welcome to the forum!!

Hey, is there a stock nitro Savy left in Holland at all?? :D

Way to go, mack. I would say the truckzilla is as easy converted as an ordinairy savage.

even with a Twin Force tranny? Sorry for being a noob :o

Dafni 11.29.2005 04:28 PM

Sure. The center plate has to be custom made anyway. (truckzillas have wider TVPs, right?.

Hi pwnd, i happen to know you from the rc-racingcars, if you use the same username on those boards?

The most important thing to modify to your savage is to get your diffs beefed up. AND your drivetrain.. (depending on the amount of power your planning of using) FLM is currently making a bulkless setup for the savage.. About the transmission. i would use a savage 3speed. It's beefy for sure and it would make the conversion a tad easier as well. (shoot for yourself, i personall don't fear a bit of work...). Eversince it's a truckzilla, with bigger wheels as well, i would seriously beef up that drivetrain. Don't expect the 14mm truckzilla wheels to last forever though. They will die on you pretty quick.. 23 mm is the key to succes with a heavy BL powered savage.. (or good RPM rimms, though they won't last forever either)

I think Nitro offroad sucks because I already blow up two engine's on my savage that's why I am getting BL.
I got some on road nitro they are good tho
And I got a gasoline offroad that's a killer two, but it make's to much noise for the neighbourhood.

Rebuild time

Well, I'm nearing the completion of a total rebuild of my Savage. My diffs were both leaking fluid and I wanted to clean it all up real good and inspect everything. I'm also swapping all the hardware to stainless. During the teardown, I found about four teeth on the rear ring gear were in the process self destructing. :027: I've got all the parts on order to get it in like new condition again. I am also reconfiguring the battery trays. I am moving them about one inch forward to center them on the chassis. Hopefully this will get the wheelie problem under control, balance out the chassis better, and eliminate all the understeer I am getting while under power.

I finished up my rebuild tonight. I swapped from a 16T to a 18T pinion and added a savage x roll bar. I also re-engineered a few little things here and there. I'm ready for action this weekend. :028:

Looks like new now. Nice work.

dabid 03.16.2006 04:04 PM

Now all you need is some FLM extended LCG chassis plates and you'll be set! ;)
