So glad for the update on your conversion. Nice Job!

Any chance that the guy who made your diff has done ay more, or has them for sale somewhere? I have a dagger that will be needing some good diffs!
|
Yep, he still makes them! He goes by name "Henry8601" on the RCKingdom.co.uk forums...so I'd suggest you sign up there and PM him. There's a whole thread on the "Monster Trucks" section on it too.
I suppose it is about time I updated this thread though isn't it! Well, Cold Fusion had undergone more major changes since the last update...including a revised-design carbon-fibre chassis, new carbon fibre shock tower design, a front super diff, new shocks and a few other minor things: The chassis: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...HPIM1607lo.jpg New shock towers and ESC plate: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...r/HPIM1635.jpg And the truck built, minus electronics as you can see: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...r/HPIM1640.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...r/HPIM1641.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...r/HPIM1643.jpg I also *finally* have a video! RCKingdom held a bash day called the "ReCKtacular" the other day, and CF was run and video'd. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to really try it out on the BMX track, but did get some speed runs in...before a rather painful crash. This was video'd by Laughing Potato on RCK, and went for a bit of a comedy aspect lol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5F3bIMBa0dE Please bear in mind that the bodyshell wasn't properly fitted that day, as I'd run out of posts (which is why it looks odd). After the last crash on that video, it turned out that one of the shock mounting tabs on the brand-new rear shock tower had been torn clean off! I don't have a pic yet, but it'll be needing a new tower. Also, she beat a 1/8th nitro buggy in a drag race...only the once though (the other times I just couldn't get the power down due to wheelies etc). There should be a vid of that race turning up soon. Anyway, I'll shutup now. I hope that helps Lincpimp...they're excellent diffs. Sounds like an interesting project though...what you planning on doing? :) |
Thanks, Dagger. I have signed up on that forum and will PM henry as soon as I am validated. At the moment my dagger has a pair of traxxas 12t titan 550s running off a novak superduty on 3s lipo. Still has the stock chassis, but I do run evader buggy front shocks on it and have the cvd axles. I have locked the rear diff by inserting one of the spider gears in-between the other two. I like the idea of the sealed diff cause it would allow me to run heavy fluid in the rear and light in the front to allow for better power delivery and steering. Any chance you want to sell the al chassis, now that you have a cf one?

Sounds like quite a Dagger! I bet it shifts with that setup. Trust me though, you don't want the aluminium chassis...it really isn't as snice as it looks in the pics. All the drill holes are poorly aligned, and the finish isn't all that great. And one plate is slightly bent lol! Plus, I'ma afraid I've already offered to send it to Tony (guy who put it into CAD originally). Sorry mate. :(
You might find that you'll get better steering by filling the front diff with thicker fluid than the rear. This will help "pull" the front end through corners better. You'll have to post pics of this thing tho! :) |
