Keep in mind that MGT spur gears fit very easily. Just use a 5x10 bearing, instead of the 5x11, and drill 3 of the peg holes to 5mm. Work like a charm and are 46t to 52t, so they will allow for the larger can motors to fit!

I want to thank you guys for the help! I am using the MGT spur but it took some work to get a 10x5 bearing in there. 49/13 gearing, overall ratio is 23.75:1, still conservative for Novak's suggested 22:1 gearing but it's quick, fast, and a blast. Hopefully the Mod1 gearing, revo slipper, and 5mm rotor shaft solve my problems. Now I'm working out the rest of the kinks, putting lok-tite on all screws, waiting for my back ordered DX3R radio and I need to work on a better steering setup. My chassis came with one servo and it's a weak one!

I think Linc or Sike said the TP MG996r is a good'n- 10kg/ 300+ oz/in of torque for $11....

Before any asks. No, that is not the motor setup I am running. Just a couple of pictures I said I would post. Somebody might find then useful. Was just messing around but it shows the 3906 transmission case w/ the 3905 slipper shaft used and the Revo Spec slipper. I put a stock titan on one side and a Novak HV6.5 on the other to show the shaft length.

By trimming the shaft and fins from the back of the slipper,I got the gap from the back of the spur to the motor plate to 7mm.

Man that looks clean. The spur does look better setting farther back. To me it looks correct setting back like that. The pics I posted above were just a FYI for anyone that might want to used the 3905 shaft and leave it the original length. I drilled the exit hole on the other side of the case. You can see it in the second picture. If you change spurs a lot that hole on the end of the shaft sure makes it easier. Next time I have my evo apart I might do what you did. The neu has a long shaft so it works well as is but I like the trimmed look. Did you use the revo shaft on yours?

I am (relativeley) close to you,in west sussex! I am building on a budget,having picked up a nice roller from the chap who I sold my moth-balled ERA crawler to.So it will quite probably be a slow build,but that is half the fun! :) |
