I can adjust endpoints (MX3 radio setup). This radio combo is the only one i've programmed/used with the ESC. I tried backing the EPA on the transmitter to 90%, the difference was almost none

Does anything need to be changed when using a 4 pole motor? I had that BEC problem with it but i don't think it would have effected the controller (seperate circuit), besides, the BEC still works.

Also, the MGM manual states that automatic timing should not be used with high inductance motors (5 or 10 deg should be used). Is the Neu 1515 1y considered high or low inductance?

Don't know if there are special settings for certain pole motors. I also don't know exactly what the inductance rating for Neus are, but I would say they ARE high inductance since their operating resistance is normal, yet they have very few winds when compared to similar kv motors. Which means most of the "resistance" comes from inductive reactance rather than pure resistive resistance (if that makes any sense).

captain, did you get your Compro in? If so, how is it working?

I really wish that I had just gotten the Quark. I've sent mine off to Mike and now there's no telling how long it will be before I actually get to run something that will accommodate a four poler.

At this point, I've almost lost interest in being able to go with the Neu. Actually, I've almost lost interest in this whole thing. I'm just going to bide my time until I get the Compro replaced with something. If I have more problems, I may just dump the whole thing and move to helicopters. LOL. It's what one of my friends did, and he's been bugging me to get something to fly.

Hey man

What's your full setup? Have you considered a Kontronik Jazz? I've just started testing a 40-6-18 in an RC10 and it is working pretty darn well. I was planning to use a 55-10-32 and Neu 1900 in my 1:8 conversion with some hesitation, but now I'm really amped to try it.

I'm into helis too, and they are my fall back option if the Jazz doesn't work in the car. It is one of the best heli controllers out there, so for me the money won't be wasted if it doesn't work out in a car. They're also a heck lot cheaper than the MGMs!

I know how you feel with the ESC and Neu motor situation. The only reputable car controllers are either limited to 5S lipo or 2 pole motors. People wanting to run 4 or more poles and HV have to experiment. :(

Aragon,

I remember checking into them, but didn't give it much thought. I didn't think that they would work well in a truck. What about brakes and reverse.

Edit- I just went and checked them out. The highest current rating is for like 55A continuous. I don't think that it will even come close to meeting the demands of an XL class motor in an 1/8th scale truck. For my comfort, I'd prefer something that can live with over 100A constant.

Depends what your truck needs. At 55A and 37V, that's 2000 Watts continuous, which is a helluva lot. That controller has been seen to achieve split second bursts of over 3000 Watts in large heli setups...

Proportional braking is working great for me. If anything it's too strong for my car! Reverse... I would not program that in. The Jazz makes no attempt to brake the motor before putting it into reverse. :)

Just noticed you had the 16016 MGM, so I guess your truck components are already all setup for 5S? The Jazz 55-10-32 will definately be too small on 5S. Maybe an 80-6-18? Or a Quark?

Mike had me send mine directly to MGM last time. Wonder why the difference?

Anyways, I got mine back repaired after just five months. I hope yours goes smoother.
