Daf,
One more Q.......... does your truggy have one of those active front diffs? If so, curious how they work out. thx again.

No. (or not yet) The active diff they released will only take the buggy reduction so far. Apparently the truggy version is in the works. I don't really see why the ringgears should not be interchangeable, but that's what they say on their forum.
That thing looks good, doesen't it? Might finally be a torque sensing diff that could hold up to some power. I'll make sure to get one for my XB8 AND the XT8 too, when they come out.

I'm sure you can - especially when most guys run a 1515 in the truggy. I'm pretty sure the buggy and truggy chassis are basically the same, aren't they?

I'll be sure to get one for whatever truggy I have as well!

Keep in mind the XRay diffs are different than most other buggy diffs, the bearings are closer together. Not much, but still.
I bet it's the same for the active diff.
You could make it work in some "regular" bulkheads, I'm sure. With spacers or something. There has to be a way, those active diffs look very nice!

Now Daf, do I come across as the kind of guy that lets a few mm's stop me?

That's good info to have, though. Shame they can't all just pick a standard size.

Certainly not! I have seen some of your prototypes at the monsters lair

It's just that at the ringgear mesh "a few mm's" are a lot, I had to point it out while we were at it  (XRay diffs are similar to Mugen diffs, btw)

nl12 11.08.2007 08:42 AM

Dafni are you saying Xray diffs will fit in a mugen?

Dafni 11.08.2007 08:47 AM

Most probably yes. I will have to check next time my MBX5 is open, maybe tonight. But I'm quite sure they are.

I am really liking the XT8, I have no money for one, too many other projects. I will get one of those active diffs for my MBX5T project if they will fit, the truggy version should be out by then.

2 mambas

hi, im just new here. How do the double mambas work for you? Are they reliable? Where can i get one? Thanks

Sower 12.03.2007 11:27 AM

Well, here's a few photos of my XT8. I got mine on eBay and it had been raced three times. The guy put some nice hop ups on it as you'll see in the photos. It came with the black anodized aluminum front knuckles as well as the rear uprights. Also, all the steering blocks have been replaced with the aluminum ones. The front chassis brace is aluminum but the rear is plastic. The guy also made some nice CF mud guards that attach to the rear suspension arms. I also have the RC-Monster motor mount and chassis brace on it right now as well as the servo piece. I'm working on a revision to the mud guards so they're not on right now. Well, here it is:
