I see no reason that the 8xl will not push the ruslter to 60 and beyond. What mah is the flightpower battery? The increased battery weight will help the rusty stay on all fours.

Paralyzed, are you trying to say that I am fat? Not nice, I will come up there and push you out of your chair! Meanie!

That said, I do like a good debate, especially when the facts and popular opinion are on my side. That is almost as much fun as when there are no facts and I am going against the unwashed masses' stupidity!

Paralyzed, I have the full VXL tranny so tranny strength wont be an issue. I am looking into getting jato driveshafts also for added strength. My 5s is a 3200mah 30c-60c Flightpower. Im thinkin it wil do the trick.

a 13l will spin close to 35,000 (sweet spot of feigao motors) on 5s, on 5s even with a vxl tranny, the diff internals(spiders) don't hold up, I run silicone diff lock inside mine

The 8xl spins at aroun 38k rpms on 5s. Thats still in the sweet spot range. Just alot more torque.

Ive been in r/c the majority of my life and I dont know if you guys have noticed but when my opinion is opposed I take it seriously. I just dont like it when people on here treat me like I just got into r/c and im 8 years old or something, It really reflects what the rest of the forum will be like. Thankfully I havent given up on this one because their are some forums out their were all the top dogs hate every new member no matter the experience I dont know why but Im the kinda guy who always likes to end up on top and will not give up until I get their. Sorry if Ive been such a snot to some of you guys but thats just how I am.

Hey, we do not look down on you, just have some facts to back up your claims. When I did the redcat with the direct to diff, I made sure that I had plenty of info about how it worked. If I had not done that I can imaging the "big dogs" would have been all over me! Hell, they give me a hard enough time as it is!

I have done rc for about 2 years now. Started with a pede with the xl1, and tried a few brushed motors. Luckily the mm was released, and then lipos got cheaper. So I kind of bypassed the nimh and brushed phase of electrics (pun intended).

So I am a relative newb myself. But I do learn fast, (I can even tune a nitro!) and learn from my mistakes (do not buy a nitro). That is why I find this forum so useful, and trust the opinions of other members here. We are all here to help each other!

And paralyzed is right. A l can feigao, like a 12l will easily get you to your goal. I though you already had the 8xl. Any 2000kv motor will work well on 5s, but the longer can lengths will help keep heat down and produce more torque. Plus you can drive them for a while before they heat up too much.

Ya, I think that the 5s is my ticket to speed.

_paralyzed_ 03.16.2008 09:27 PM

have you a 5s speed control?

Takedown 03.16.2008 09:28 PM

Yep, I have a Hacker Master Car Sport that will run up to 6s from what I hear with a ubec.

_paralyzed_ 03.16.2008 09:28 PM

I'll sell you my schulze timebomb

Takedown 03.16.2008 09:29 PM

Lol no thanks. I worry about schulze esc's...

_paralyzed_ 03.16.2008 09:30 PM

master car sport is only good for 14.4volts 12nimh or 3slipo

Takedown 03.16.2008 09:33 PM

With the internal bec. I will be running a ubec and disabling the internal bec. Im pretty sure it doesnt even have one. I think its the opto version...

_paralyzed_ 03.16.2008 09:39 PM

I had one, there is no bec, hacker told me not to run 4s, it was designed for c50 motor on 12 cells, like an e-maxx

He can give it a try. I would think that motor rpm and load would be more of an issue. The c50 maxx motors are very powerful, and good on 4s lipo. 12 cells nimh are about the same as 4s.

Takedown, I would keep the motor rpm under 40k. That may keep the controller happy. And try lower gearing for your inital tests. Keep an eye on temps, and then go up gradually with the gearing. That should ensure that you do not roast the esc on the first run!
