I've had so much more fun with 4wd vehicles and lots of power, my BL Ofna 9.5 blows my mind every time I pull the trigger. My T2 with a Lehner 5300 is cool too, and bashes great, but even in my AE 18MT the 4wd gets it up and over so much more than 2wd could ever do. It's weird, that little 18MT can boogie over so many things just because of the 4wd, the size almost doesn't matter. :D

camel_rc 08.26.2005 12:56 AM

I haven't really gotten this thing up to a speed that I could enjoy it, but that all should change once I get my Fiegao 8s. Right now I love my T3's, but the lack of traction gets old after a while.

BTW: If I had a XXX-T, I would hate it too. I worked on a friend's to get it race ready and it wasn't anywhere close to being as smooth as my T3's. But they are fun to beat at the track! :p

It might be a little pricey but get a machine shop to make a mount for you. Just take some measurements and they can draft it for you. Presicion is key when making a motor mount.

I luckily have a roommate that can draft like the devil. My mount did cost $65, but is worth it in quality.

Hey and leave losi alone! I loved mine until I decided to start running 3S lipos in it, BUT the drivetrain still held up. Even after I tested it in the grass. The power was just to much and would just make the truck undriveable. I like the added weight and 4wd of the MT2 way better. It doesn't just wheelie uncontrollably. Sure it also makes it a little slower but who needs a 55mph ST anyways ;) Heres a pic because Im such a pic wh***.

Alright, I talked to Jamie at starluckrc about his conversion, and he gave me some information on how to make a strong mount myself and where to do it.

I just want a sturdy truck with a great drivetrain thats going to rip through grass. The xxx-t could do it, but not with the utmost ease. I'll probably hang on to the xxx-t until I test the mt2 out, seeing as its hard to sell anyways.

Also, anyone know if I can pick up a new mt2 ss w/o engine? Otherwise im left to ebay or paying $300 for the new one and selling off the engine for $100.

Here's an update:

Oooo, a package, what could it be?

Hmmm...

Oooo...shiny heatsink!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...2/DSC02318.jpg

Ohhh! Now I get it! :D

I decided to ditch the radio tray and mechanical brake because there wouldn't be any other way to run it.

I got the battery tray from a hacked-up T3 chassis and the battery strap is a piece of aluminum wrapped with electrical tape:

I was looking for a antenna mount and the bet one I could find was a screw hole for the radio tray, so I just mounted the receiver on the back side of the battery tray:

Here's my brushless setup:

Feigao 8s motor, MGM Compro TMM 8012-3s, and brushless PC fan I bought in Germany for 1 euro :)

A close up of the controller:

And put some Mugen 1/8 buggy shocks on, just because I could:

Because I ditched the radio tray, I had to mount the servo directly to the chassis:

And some poser shots:

I owe a HUGE thank you to Dafni with this because he sponsored me to make it brushless.

THANK YOU

Welcome!

You're welcome, Camel!

Give it a nice run in your street for me. And launch it off that curbcut.

And make Dabid hold the cam ;)

Hey, nice setup, I like it alot. The arrangement on this plate looks cool. Good thing about the radio box and brake.

HAVE FUN!

-Daf

Edit: Camel, is this heatsink too long?

Re~Mix 08.27.2005 05:25 PM

Hmm, I like the sound of a sponsership. I can pick up a roller mt2 ss with aftermarket screw kit and threaded shocks for $200 shipped. How many think I should do it? I could convert it and resell it and probably make money if I wasn't happy.

Also, what pinion did you use? I'm looking to run the 4200 so, I figure I should gear similar toyou.

camel_rc 08.27.2005 05:53 PM

Go for it! That'a a 12 tooth mod1 from Mike by the way.

I could make a vid batfish style...one hand on the radio the other on the camera!

Dafni 08.27.2005 05:54 PM

Better wait for your bro! :p

Re~Mix 08.27.2005 05:56 PM

Alright, I just may take it. The only thing im stuck on is whether to buy a new servo or not. It's 4wd, so that usually takes a bit more torque to get around correct? I run a s3003 in my xxx-t since the steering assembly is butter smooth and any servo swings those tires. I was thinking of getting a futaba digital high torque servo? Good or uneccessary?

Got a hole burning in my pocket :-)

squeeforever 08.27.2005 07:13 PM

i would look at the bluebirds.

camel_rc 08.27.2005 08:16 PM

Did a little bit of taping Batfish style until I crashed...hardcore, and loosened my motor screws :D.

I run a BMS-620MG. No trouble with not having enough torque.

I like hearing it more each time :)

(not the part about you crashing, mind you) ;)

coolhandcountry 08.27.2005 08:54 PM

I think I have got you known for something there batfish. More than just some clean rides.

camel_rc 08.27.2005 09:00 PM

Here's a short vid of it driving around in the grass in my backyard:

I filmed it, you guessed it, Batfish style.
