The gsx 1 liter!!

Sport Bikes rock! my dream is the ducati desmosedici... but since it is almos impossible to get one i would be happy with a ducati 1198

SEE im not the only one here with nitro in the shelfs!!

dirt101 12.04.2008 08:27 PM

yeah I would like to ride sport bikes, but im too young for all that right now. my 450 keeps me happy as of now anyways. I think I would be more of a 600 kind of guy, because my 50hp gets me in to much trouble as it is.

I just got rid of my last bottle of nitro about 2 weeks ago, so im all clean from now on.

trev3813 12.04.2008 09:41 PM

Gee 12.22.2008 12:44 AM

Finally found (or took) the time to do a little organizing and cleaning up. Didn't want to burn the daylight during the summmer. Snow on the ground and I've been wanting to share my laundry room with you all. There's a lot in a little space and I ended up with way to many pictures. It's taken a lot of time just to pick which ones and then try and combine them. It great that Magman started this thread. It not often that when you show your workspace to visitors that they "get it". You know what I mean. Some of these picture are like a collage. To save taking up a whole page of this thread.

One thing you might gather from this is that I like to see everything. The cabnet and drawer really don't have anything useful in them, Everything is out in the open.

This has been on my to do list since early summer.

Here's the cart. This is where it all started. It use to be a old dot matrix printer stand from work. I started adding crap to it after I got my second RC the pede. It's got a few amenities, can put tools on each end one has a peg board the other has and magnetic strip. Has drill holders up front so I don't have to lay them on the table. Because it usually has crap all over it. It's on a platform with wheels so I can move it around easily. Has three differnt spots for the rcs to sit on. The office has a raised floor and these were floor jacks that have a top part that slides down onto the bottom section. I made some custom cutouts for the different rcs to sit on. You can just pick up the top part and put it on the base portion of your choice. They can spin around freely for easy access to what ever. It also can be a pain at times so you can also lock them down with a thumb bolt. The top of the cart has a grove routed along the edget to catch the nuts and bolts and there are holes drilled through it to put hex drivers in. The center is made out of acrylic so the light shine up through it. If I need a flat area on it I can just pull the section out and flip it over. The lights were the latest addition. It seemed like no matter where I would stand I was still blocking the light. Old eyes maybe. I need to add a support piece to it. Looks like the big fellows could use a diet. Behind it is my laundry room. There rest of this should be so long winded..
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...10aTheCart.jpg

Here a collage of the cart and how the jacks work.

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...ackcollage.jpg

Here looking into the room from the back door,

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...inginwtest.jpg

Here the steel rack converted into a paint stall.
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...paintstall.jpg

Rc paints and the gears/transmission area. Working on the gears and transmissions is about the only time I like to sit down.

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...diffsgears.jpg

Here's a the dremmel collage. Made the storage case for bits and stuff out of old tape backup cases. Visual thing. I could see what was there. The other spinning rack at one time held large kitchen utensiles. It was drafted to do a more important job. Got the craftsman dremmel hanging on a swing out.

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...tA4dremmel.jpg

In the lower right hand corner or the dremmel picture. Those are the BEST damn screw extractors I have ever used. I stumbled on them at a General Store in town and they were the last ones they had. Under 20.00 they have not failed to get a screw out for me yet.

Shock workstation and and old VCR storage rack. Also drafted for more important duties.

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...pringwtext.jpg

The corner...

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...7thecorner.jpg

Battery charging area and canned paints, stains, etc. In the upper right hand corner I made a rack to for some cordless tools. Only really heavy tools in the wood shop for long term.

Metallover 12.22.2008 12:49 AM

You have a LOT of stuff.:gasp:

Gee 12.22.2008 12:51 AM

Okay just a couple more. Here's the latest addition to the area.

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...kwithglass.jpg

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...wrackwtext.jpg

Last picture. Might remember me asking about the electrical boxes in the picture. I use it now as a timer for the soldering iron(s). About 45min worth. Wood shop is a mess. No heat other then a Kerosene turbine out there. So it's usually a real fast trip in and out. Electronics play area and the track is buried deep now.

This is more like Gee's factory or Gee's warehouse. Maybe even Gee's Villiage.:surprised:

Gee.....

Gee 12.22.2008 02:18 AM

Neighbors call it Guy-Mart. They usually check to see if I got something that will work before they get in the car and head to wal-mart. I don't have any picture but have a lighting isle, plumbing isle, and electrical isle. Mainly just a box of too. Except to the lighting dept. Those are hanging in the entry way. Three chandlers a friend ask me if I wanted and to this day I am still wondering why I said yeah.

Here's the lighting isle. It's more of an inside joke with the neighbors when they come in the house they are in the lighting isle.

jayjay283 12.22.2008 02:23 AM

Gee, If I had that much stuff in a space like that you would have to wade through it with mudders on. I commend you on your organization and Cool stuff

Andrew32 12.22.2008 02:31 AM

GEE... REALLY?!.......its a hobby shop.....

Ryu James 12.22.2008 04:47 AM

nice space gee! you have a ton of shit! i love it. whenever you want to buy a new RC and need some dough just dig through one corner of your shop and find enough stuff to sell on fleabay to pay for a couple of new RCs. lol.

lincpimp 12.22.2008 04:58 AM

Wow, and I thought I had a problem...

That is a bunch of stuff, even by my standards, but you did a great job organizing it. If you ever want a break from the cold weather roll down to New Orleans, and you can help me organize my mess of rc. I have a 600sq/ft room, but i would like to reclaim about 1/2 of it so that I can setup a audio/video area. Just too much stuff and not enough shelves!!! HAHA.

SeanZ0r 12.22.2008 05:02 AM

Wow, I only went back a few pages at a time, But pretty cool stuff guys, Gee hahaha!! You have some cool stuff as well, I like you have alot of hobby specific tools, and setups, giving me ideas. I wish my dad was into mechanics and shit so i would have atleast some tools to start working on things with, so i don't have to hit up harbor freight or Homedepot for tools.

Gee 12.22.2008 06:04 AM

Yes, I often say that to myself. I bounce around a lot on different projects or ideas it can leave the place in hell of a mess at times. I'll have to get a couple of shot of in the garage. Then you will say I have got a lot of shit. Got lots of tools. Better odds of finding the wire snipe when there are six or so around. I make my self walk through the places I had been working the day before and gather all the tools and put them up before I start back into what ever I was up to.

I do have a bad habit of buying stuff that I don't need but think it may come in handy for some else, someday. It's cool when someone asks. You wouldn't happen to have.... If I can walk out of the garage or back room with what they need or something that will work. It makes me feel good that I helped them out and this shit pays off in a way.

That and it my own personal playground. I like trying to make something out of what I got sort of speak. Its nice to "get er done" without having to go out and buy it. Already did buy one. Sometimes it works out sometimes not. I learn alot in the process and it can be a challange. Like how can I make a old dot matrix printer stand more useful to me then the purpose it was designed for.

Always something to do or mess with at Guy-Mart. Man I am rambling...... :slap:

I'm back. James if I ever get chance to stop by your place I will definalty let you know. It won't be to organize your shop but we can tip one back and definalty discuss it. You guys do realize that I cleaned the place up just so I could take pictures right. I mean it has been on my to do list since early summer. So that should tell you something. The rest of you clean up before taking pictures right. I've alway admired people that were organized "they call themselve anal" but it is a quality to be admired. I make attemps. Buy organizers, have visions of how it should look. Like in some of the other posts. But never make it all the way to organized.

Sean I like coming up with something that will make it easier for me to do. Its a pain wrapping you maxx in plastic wrap but heck if you hang him and spin it a lot easier. IIt's easier to take the heat gun to it after a snow run too. I'm always in a hurry to get the car out before the sun goes down. So finding easier faster ways is fun. Keep an eye out for tools at thrift store. You can get some good stuff. I mean this guy must of died cuz why else would a dewalt be in here. You know he'd want it to be used though. It just being there at the right time. I was walking out one day and truck was pulling up with a radial arms saw in the back of his truck. Yep, got it the back of a toyoto station wagon and brought it home. That's were a lot of my shit has come from. Hell I couldn't afford to buy new stuff and honestly why? Escpecially if I am just going to pass it on. Now underwear, socks, toothbrushes, etc you know those are gimmies on that question. If you can't buy em new don't use em. Got a lot of harbor frieght items also.

Still rambling, I shouldn't of come back after I saw yours and James posts.

magman 12.22.2008 05:26 PM

Gee....very impressive space and set up you have there. I am glad people are using this thread for good ideas. My space is tiny so I used a couple of ideas for mine...I will post pics this weekend!

rabosi 12.22.2008 05:27 PM

Damn GEE!!! Not bad for "not all the way organized". Definitely a guy-mart.

Gee 12.23.2008 09:19 PM

Thanks. It may look like it organized cuz I made an arrow where the stuff is suppose to be. That doesn't mean that's where you find it though. The laundry room keeps getting more cramped. Too cold in the shop. Felt like I froze my fingers off using the drill press the other day. I hauled the band saw in and took the heat gun to it so I could finish what I was working on. By the end of winter the garage will be empty and spring I will start hauling it back out there.

JERRY2KONE 12.23.2008 09:34 PM

Space...

Hey there Gee you have a lot of very useful work space on your hands. Why not just put a heater in the garage? Please no offense, but If you emplore a little bit of self dicipline upon yourself you can get really organized and become more efficiant with your work. Just think of the time you can save on moving stuff back and forth if you just take one week and rethink the way you are using your work areas. We all know how hard it is to get started, but once you do it will pay off in the long run. Things can get a little bit overwhelming once they are left go for too long. You have a lot of really cool stuff, and a really nice place to work with if you only take the time to set it up to suit your needs. If you don't feel up to the challenge then hire someone to come in and clean it up for you. Just a suggestion....:intello: I know it is easier if you have a smaller space, but I wish that I had the kind of room you have.

Jerry - you sound like my DW! LEAVE US ALONE!!!!!!:na: We like our organized messes....!!!!

Metallover 12.23.2008 11:32 PM

You need a some sort of Propane heater for christmas.:yipi:
http://www.heatershop.com/propane_heaters.html
More specifically - http://www.heatershop.com/garage_heater_gp30t.html
My friend had one and it heated up his garage in less then 30 minutes. It was coming from a sub-zero night. I wish I had one.

jayjay283 12.23.2008 11:58 PM

Jerry, I think you are over thinking Gees space, If that was mine I would find it (anything) in a second. As JT said" organized mess", too organized wouldn't be personalized, as though your wife did it or made you do it

JERRY2KONE 12.24.2008 05:04 AM

Organized.

Overthinking?? I think not, Not at all. I have been a mechanic for many years(over 30 years) and I have worked in enginerooms and industrial workshops all over the world with people from all walks of life. I to have had to work in places lacking in organizational conditioning, and some of them were due to my own lack of organizational skills. I am not putting anyones work space down or trying to insult anyone. I never said that his space was messy. So please don't try to start something over nothing:neutral:.

I am merely making a suggestion which can help anyone be more efficient. I also learned this the hard way in that organization is a good thing. Yes even in a mess one can find what they are looking for if they know the space in question. No one is disputing that. I was only saying that compared to a lot of the guys on here and everywhere, some are forced to work with tiny spaces for hobby work. The photos depicted show a space that is gigantic and he obviously has a huge stockpile of stuff keeping him knee deep in R/C heaven. If he got his setup a little bit more organized then he would not have to move from one place to another to keep working due to heat issues, or working room. Nothing more, nothing less.

Gee 12.24.2008 05:45 AM

I get what you saying Jerry. I may admire people that are organized and such. But that doesn't mean I want to be like them. I mean talk about anal. That would drive me nuts. I'm too laid back for that kind of stress.

I got a big kerosene turbine heater for the garage. It will warm it up fast but no insulation so it don't last long. Doesn't heat the metal tables or drill bits though that have been chilled to the fine temp of 10 degree. I take the heat gun to them. I will warm it before I got out there if I know I need to out there for a long time. But to heat it for 15-20min worth of work isn't cost effective. I think it's around 45.00 for 5 gallons. I already heat this big ole house and got lots of space so may as well use it. So yeah get off my back! I'm taking a vacation from having any meaningful, we need to talk, what's wrong, yes dear, long or short term, get your stuff off my table relationships. I'm gonna enjoy myself while I can. Beside I haven't turned the living or dinning room into my works space yet. For RC anyways.

Here's some utilization. The work cart is picking up some overtime. This dremmel router table is in a Planner, Big Router table cabnet from the garage. It's in a drawer I made in the cabnet that you can pull out when you need to use it. When I bring it inside, I just pop the top on the cart and you have a router table.

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...utertable1.jpg

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...uterTable3.jpg

There's my latest impulse project on the router table. It's turning out pretty cool. I think a few of you will like it.

JERRY2KONE 12.24.2008 09:53 AM

Gadgits

You have a lot of neet stuff Gee. You seem to be pretty creative. That projects almost looks like an EMAXX tranny half. I can only assume that it may be a center diff motor mount of sorts. Anyway you just keep on truckin. You do have a pretty cool place to work there. Merry Christmas Gee.

Gee 12.24.2008 10:10 AM

Thanks Jerry and keep the advice and tips coming. Some of it does get thru to us. Good eyes on the work piece. I am almost done with it then I can post up some pics of it. One of those projects that is hard to stop on. You want to get it finished or close enough to share.
