get a savage.

brushlessboy16 08.12.2008 10:26 AM

nick i wish it was that easy

brushlessboy16 08.12.2008 01:37 PM

I think i have figured out my slipper clutch dillema..

i have a few plans.
A. Get a Thrust bearing to go inbetween the spur and the spring to prevent the nut from backing off when the clutch slips

B. Get a shafts collar to back the nut to physically limit its movement

C. Glue the spur to the slipper (last resort)

i feel that the thrust bearing should eliminate the problem i just dont know if this bearing wil be enough to hold standup to the spring pressure

Between option A and locktite on the nut i think your issue will be solved

TexasSP 08.12.2008 01:46 PM

If you are looking for some heavier duty ones, check out www.mcmaster.com and search thrust bearings. Theirs will be a little beefier as they are typically meant for industrial applications.

brushlessboy16 08.12.2008 01:47 PM

that doesnt work, beleive me-i tried everything...

-original nut
-new nylock
-original with Locktite
-new with locktitie
-both nuts
-CA on the threads for heavan's sakes!!!

its always loostens them

i found all steel ones on tower, mmc was plan B:lol:

TexasSP 08.12.2008 01:57 PM

McMaster is one of my favorite resources. They literally have everything. I usually buy all my metric screws from them as well as many other items which cost 2-10 times the price buying through a typical rc retailer. The worst is what some rc places charge for screw kits. 12.9 steel is 12.9 steel and no matter where it comes from it has to meet ASTM and ASME standards.

Their shipping is also ultra fast. Same day in most cases and most of the time I get my stuff from the Atlanta warehouse next day.

brushlessboy16 08.12.2008 02:06 PM

i have tower credit so i might go that route, then again i know someone who works ar MMC in georgia :D

brushlessboy16 08.13.2008 05:11 PM

COP-i figured out the problem. the outer pressure plate on the E-savage clutch is keyed to the shaft, since the spring rides on the outer plate instead of the spur gear itself-it wont spin. so then since i knew that i needed to incorperate the other plate i decided to get the savage X style dual sided spur gear-made for a dual plate slipper.. should eliminate the problem. In other news while running 2 days ago the front center drive cup went shooting off the transmission and landed somewhere in my neighbors front lawn- lost forever...
i also noticed that the front center dogbone was very worn

with the help of Takedown and some creative back-tracking i found out that the drive cups were from an FLM extended tvp kit for the e-savage. called up FLM and they said i only need to pay 5 Bucks for shipping. afterwards i called the FLM machine shop and asked jamie how much for him to whip up a 94mm dogbone for me, $7.50. so for 12.50 i got everything i need..

i currently have 40 dollars and am debating on what to do with it
1. get spare parts
2. save for MMM
3. put it towards a digital camera for mom.

i will keep you posted

trev3813 08.13.2008 06:51 PM

MMM or Spare parts

Arct1k 08.13.2008 07:51 PM

brushlessboy16 08.13.2008 07:55 PM

Ran the truck just now with the outer plate just sitting on the shaft, it finaly holds!!!! and i actually ran the pack down :D (first time in a while) wheelies untill the cutoff :D video should be up today.
Also got an offer of 140 for my Mamba max, Bec, caps, and 9xl

Takedown 08.14.2008 10:02 AM

I would take that deal and save for the MMM.

brushlessboy16 08.14.2008 10:12 AM

if that guy comes through i will have enough for the mmm :D

brushlessboy16 08.14.2008 10:55 AM

Just ran the truck for 5 minutes or so, needs alot of punch control added, i was jumping tried to correct in the air and the truck landed on its back, shearing the front body mount... :(, truck runs fine though

brushlessboy16 08.14.2008 04:37 PM

more lost or broken parts-

lost my 16t pinion now
!!! with thread locker!

temps were 103 on batt
145 on the motor
and 125 on the esc..
after 10 mins running in tall grass

its telling me to turn timing down

trev3813 08.14.2008 09:28 PM

brushlessboy16 08.17.2008 01:18 PM

Update, my smooth can 9xl, Mamba Max, BEC and cap board were shipped out friday morning.. trying to decide where i want to order from- Mike gave me a good deal, but troy at bpp gave me an offer i almost fell out of the chair for. >$150 :D

My mom and her wealth of Motorcycle community freinds is getting me a job at a local cycle dealership  dream job for me-especially for a first job. if this goes through i smell a Medusa 36-74 when they come out...or maybe a neu ;).. right after i repay mr. Lincpimp for his motor.

Also ordered my spur gear (double sided slipper) and a new set of body mounts off the bay.

brushlessboy16 08.18.2008 06:32 PM

body mounts are on the way, no word on anything else

ASYSTEMERROR 08.21.2008 10:05 PM

I know but i sunk a ton into my Mt2 and it's what i drag race so it's been keeping me with something to run other than BL'ed mini's ! PLUS i when to get a CC link & CC BEC and got suckered into a Dx3r so that was a chunk of my budget for the truck i just figured i'd make it up somewhere along the way but with school coming up sooooo fast i think i need to get uniforms and blahblahblah before it's to late and i'm labeled a bad parent ! but the build moust go on ! if you been crusing the ads on rcu i got the e savage with all the work in it extended chasis cvd's my son will be happy if he don't screw up before it get here.

moms camera
hundreds of dollars in AA batteries :D

brushlessboy16 08.24.2008 02:51 PM

My MMM was shipped friday or saturday.

i need to figure out some different wiring options, should should i solder the motor wires that come with the MMM to my 8xl?

brushlessboy16 08.30.2008 08:50 AM

My v2 MMM arrived on yesterday, was promptly installed. i love it, very smooth at low speeds, tonns of torque, i only ran it for 5 mins and it ripped up a cvd :D

brushlessboy16 08.30.2008 11:58 AM

I almost had an episode...
In fear of my bad cell, i set my lipo cutoff to 16.4v, i jammed the throttle once and the esc hit the cutoff (pack was 3/4 drained) so i checked the pack- all the cells held up fine. the esc registers on ccl, but it cuts off when i arm it... is it toast?

brushlessboy16 08.30.2008 12:09 PM

it died... :( no smokke, castle link still works, no broken connections, full story in the CC section....

brushlessboy16 08.30.2008 02:33 PM

WHOAAA BREAKING DEVELOPMENTS!!!
Hey, anyone outther with a MMM, unplug all connections for motor and batt, plug a rx pack into your rx, and pull the trigger, it spinns the fan variably

well i tried that, now i plugged in all connections with the motor and batts and it works!!!!! Flawlessly, so im using an rx pack now i gues :D
