Chris will be fine with everything.. well that is unless his GF finds out he made a order the other night
|
Chris- invest in one of the Proxxon micro mills. They cost $300 and would be a great addition to your shop!

Lets not get into the Chevy v. Ford argument...
@ post #160 by Ben And she knows that I ordered all this stuff. And I will look into one, but that price makes me wonder if they are any better than the Harbor Freight micro mills? |
Love the build, Chris. As said earlier, functionality over looks is a big plus.

Thanks! And I am trying to keep it looking halfway decent though, trying to keep it limited to blue, black, and silver for the colors.
New update, will have pictures later. Just got my Integy aluminum center diff mounts, and actually they seem really sturdy, time will tell though. For this application though, they should hold up just fine. I have a question about mounting my receiver.... Now as sad as this seems, I am still using the stock Rx and Tx (probably going to put my JR XR2i in it in a few days). But anyway, I am wondering if it would be alright to mount the receiver up front next the motor, opposite the steering servo. Would there be alot of interference with it right there next to the motor? The motor wires would be opposite the receiver so I dont think that is so much of an issue, but would the fact of it being that close to the motor in general be bad and cause interference? |
So far as I know, thats about the worst place you put put the rx, apart from next to the esc- massive amounts of rf and em interference coming from the motor and motor power wires.

Hey Neil, have a look at my other thread, if you have some ideas about where to mount the receiver please post there - http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20702

Alright people, I finally have pictures (and a quick video) of my Maxx center diff conversion completed!

aww i wanted to see it running! anyways, I think it's a little risky with the soft cased lipo so close to the spurgear, even with those posts there. one nasty crash and it might just get chewed to bits(followed immediatly by fire)
|
Looks pretty good.. I agree with mike.. Use some protection
|
Looks good Chris. What are you going to make for battery trays?

I'm not sure I'd trust electrical tape to hold your $200 pair of lipos...
|
Heh, I had some of those battery trays once on my TXT-1. What you could do is have a piece of plastic/ alloy in place of the posts (on edge), with a channel for the spur gear if some clearance is required on the insides.

To Ian - it actually holds really good, they hardly move at all. |
Just got some video of it doing some speed runs and bashing, and my front diff stripped. Seems like it only breaks when its being filmed...
It's uploading now, have to edit it, will be posted in a couple hours. |
|
Cool video. I can hear you:
"Ok, my front diff is gone. I know! I'll just drive in reverse!" |

10k in the center, grease in the front and rear since they aren't sealed.
