It does, but I think it's wrong though since this is a game. |
Lehman has been the talk of the stock market lately. I've read some good articles about them. It sucks that people blame Lehman for what has happened to the economy, but I'm sure most don't know the real deal of what happened. If they got bailed out like many others did, this economy would a different story. It would be nice to see the OTC stock (LEHMQ) go up to the moon in respect for Lehman the company .
|
Like I said, the OTC market get be crazy sometimes. I made a few bets on some companies and one paid off huge. Now, I'm going to wait until Lehman gets a little boost. Got to love the OTC, it's risky, but sometimes it's like winning the lotto.
|
Holy crap man. $40K into $12M..? yeah that's like the lotto. :)
And I was happy w/ my 5%'s I've been pulling all week. Finally closed above $1.5M. 50% total return over two/three hard fought months. But you pulled a 66% return on an already $17M portfolio in a day. Damn. Whenever I'm just starting to feel rich something else happens to make me feel really really poor. ;) You're playing this game on a whole 'nother level. :) |

Go Lehman go...If you guys want to take some profit on LEHMQ, go ahead. I'm going to hold this stock until the game ends. It might go back to $0.03-0.05 again. I'm going to just use the buying power and invest it in other stocks. If you guys want to wait until tomorrow or the day after, this will be at your own risk.
|
I picked some up when it dropped a bit, but i don't think I'll sell it out. Would have liked it more at .1 than 0.13, but eh. If I lose ~100K its ok.
Having another good day, so I'm also trying to capitalize on the margins. With any luck I'll close over 1.6M today. This week should be big for a few of my stocks, so it may be go big or go home. :) Edit: there are a few stocks I sold out early on and wish I could have back. I had ~250K DPTR @1.90 and sat on it for a while. Got impatient as it was going nowhere, and I had some better ideas at the time. Meant to go back to it but never did, but now it exploded last week and its now at $4. Think I did ok on the money I got from it, OTOH it may have been a lot more work to get to the same place. |

You are doing awesome for a few short months. It took me a while to get back in green territory. Before the game ends A123's stock might pop up and I'll be picking some up along with a few other what socalled "Green" stocks. |
'Ol Cloddy has been on a tear lately. Better watch out or I might get passed. :)
I am hoping to break into 3rd, but I need to double my current portf. to get to 2nd. Possible but I doubt likely. If I'm not careful I could be on my way down... |
What is A123's stock? I didn't know they had an IPO.
|
Quote:
The IPO for A123 will be out soon, probably in a few months. The ticker might be AONE and it might be in the $8+ range. |
heh....i've been all over the place for the past few months. i log in occasionally to check, and am surprised i'm up as high as i am.... i was way down, lol.
i stopped keeping track of what was hot when i was losing lots - i'll have to do some digging and use some of that new buying power.... edit: a123 doesn't open for trading until next week, under 'aone'. if i still have buying power then, i'll use it for that (thanks for the idea finn, lol) http://247wallst.com/2009/09/15/in-a...mr-ab-pg-aapl/ |

You never know with these stocks. I've been bouncing all over the place, but have a good run going. Almost one month ago (8/17) I was in 15th place w/ barely over a Mil (maybe less than,) by the end of the week I was in 5th. Standing over 1.7M right now, if not 1.8M on a couple little nudges.
The stocks I have are pretty volitile (not as much as some as the OTCs) but everything has been on a tear since July (and really since Mar.) The people who sold out of their 401ks in the begining of the year are going to be hurting later, so much has come back to reasonable levels. Luckily I had alot in cash in my (real) accts and I was able to move a lot into equities at the right time. There are things I wish I would have done a bit different, but its really hard to have not make money this summer. I'm not making crazy returns like I'm sure more daring and more experienced people are right now, but I've more than made up for any loses suffered last fall while not getting too risky. Some people are going to walk away from this like bandits. You gotta be a bit wary w/ the run ups, but so much was oversold it can come back along way before even coming close to where it was in 2008. My PNX has been taking off like a raped ape today, and so has some of the oils and others I've had. The trouble right now if figuring out what is the best ride on up. Way more opportunites than $$, OTOH I don't want to blunder into something too high on euphoria. |
EG.
I had been holding DPTR for quite a while since June/July ~$2. It was a $20 about a year ago. It was dead in the water so I sold it off for some better moving trains, then all of a sudden its rocketed to $4 in teh last week or so. Think I had 3-400K shares at the time. Damn. Wanted to get KOG @ ~.7 in July. It was dead for a while, now its nearly $3. Held some AEZ from .8 and sold it @ 1.2. Its now $2 and moving. Its hard to sit on something that's moving nowhere watching other things take off. You're tempted to jump off and go chasing, but it seems that's when your old ride gets going. You know its a bad idea, but you want to do it anyway. Just seeing how good some of the returns have been on guys who haven't done any trading is impressive. |
Yeas, it's a crazy ride. I just sold half of my Juniper and placed orders for the rest of the Brasilian companies trading in the OTC. Hopefully they all go through and I'll have some left for BRK.B as I would like to hold both Berkshires. The OTC market is very risky and unpredictable.

Does anyone know what's the most expensive OTC stock?
|
Q1: IDK... Wonder what the cheapest is. I've seen some prices that's just stupid. Silly to think you could go out and buy a billion shares of a company and only spend a few K. lol
What do you think of DRYS? Its looking good, buts its a crazy stock. Lots of upside if that thing ever got back to half of what it was. Gotta think the shippers have got to see some movement if the global economy starts picking up, but they are still pretty beaten down. Lastly, overall I can't complain, its not like the things I've bought haven't done well either. Its easy (and nice) to complain about about a wealth of excess. |
Quote:
Man, DRYS kicked my butt and I got fed up with it and sold them at a huge loss. I really don't know what's up with them. I thought they had one of the biggest fleet of ships out there and they were in pretty good condition. |
Just joined:yipi:I have always been interested in the stock market, but know very little about it. This looks like a great way to learn. Thanks.

Nice move to third place Finnster. I would be in a nicer position if I had held my LVS and DRYS . I'm riding the Lehman wave and it's fun, it topped out at $0.20 and I hope it goes higher. I'm glad I sold my Juniper position for a little profit, I just hope I made the correct move on it. The way things are going, in no time you'll be surpassing me.

Still got some headroom on some of my stocks. I'm really looking at PNX to breakout to $5-6. We're at the resistance level of 3.5. Needs some good news and we are off. Then the party starts. No way in hell I'm coming close to you tho. You are too kind. A move to $3M isn't impossible tho, but lots of things have to go well. I've altered my strat a bit. I'm trying to collect some other stocks w/ potential on margin as things move up, rather than trading from one to another. Should be good as things keep moving en masse upwards. Watching out for Oct/Nov tho! Can't continue like this forever. |

Looking good again Finnster. I had to make a move and bought a few shares of MSFT and a few expensive OTC stocks and I found a few more and will buy them soon. The Brasilian stocks listed in the OTC hard didn't went through so a caneled some and some expired, but I'll keep trying. I also just purchased 1000 more BRK.B, but have to wait and see if that will get filled. I will study a few high risk stocks and reorganize my picks and I'll be setting my goal for above $100 million clean.
|
I think I found the most expensive OTC stock. It's AMFI Corp. (AFIPA) trading at $59,800.00. I also just found out that you can own the Indians (INDN) for a nice $24,700.00 per share lol.
|
I think there is a glitch in my portfolio... It is telling me I don't own the 12500 shares of CMCSA (that I bought on 8/11), that the value is $0.00, and that I'm -$185,250. The stock is at $17.29 atm and I bought it for $14.82.
If the glitch was fixed I'd be in 9th place with ~$1,263,295! |

I've noticed glitches here and there. Clody had one the other week that put in in last or first to last. Got fixed and he had tons of dough after. I've had one or two but they get worked out fairly quickly.
|
I'll have to look at some OTC or small stocks again. I had a few of those, but as I said earlier, the volume limits always made them hard to play with in the game the way I was doing it.
However, I've had a few pay off pretty well recently (tho not like Luc's Juniper.) The GRMH I had been trying to accumulate (and often accidently sold when meant to buy when the error screen popped up I was over the volume limit reverted back to the default of "sell" :whip:) took off recently from $2 to $3.4 and moving. Since I'm just trying to build on margin, it way work better as I don't have to worry about cashing out so quickly. I have a bit of this in real life. A silly low number of shares, but maybe I'll cash them out here a bit and buy myself a 1527 for my Savage XL. [edit: that wierd, I wrote this Fri and it didn't post] |

I wish this game was a little better, but it's much better then another one that I'm playing. I like to play high risk stocks as they can sometimes do crazy things. Lehman for example, I've bought it at $0.03, $0.04 and $0.05, but since I hold more at $0.05, that's where I stand with it. I now have to make a decision if I should sell WAMUQ or keep it and this is where the fun begins . If this game was much closer to real life, it would be awesome. I don't like the 20min delay specially when you're trying to sell a stock. My friend was up nice with Lehman and he sold it, but with the 20min delay he lost over $300K. |
The 20min delay is a big PITA for short term stuff, or trying to squeeze the most out of the stocks. There has been a few times I saw something moving and wanted to buy/sell, put in a reasonable limit, and the order never goes thru. I hate putting market orders in for alot of things due to this. I'm glad its not too complicated w/ options and all those other things, but the time delay can be a real killer.

It looks like I hit the sell button on WAMUQ at the perfect time. Lucky move on that one. I'll watch it to see how low it'll go so I can get back in lol. Should I just walk away though with the profit I made on it? Let me know what you guys think.
|
I should've made a move on CHIP on Friday, but didn't want to sell any of my position to cover for it. What a mistake I made lol.
|
I should've held off on WAMUQ. I made some high risk buys and I hope it pays off. I'm going to sell the ones I've been messing around with and get more serious. I'll be going conservative and high risk at the same time. My plan still is to be at $100 million clean. If anyone has a hot stock that is bellow $1, let me know .
|
Ouchy, 30% loss today on wamuq, but you still had a great day.
Had a good day too and closed above $2M to take 3rd place Yeahhhhh!!!! Bad thing is I'm running out of tricks. A lot of the stocks I like/follow are at a point I'm not sure I want to dump more into. Still think they have more room to grow, doesn't mean its a strong buy tho. A lot of easy gains have already been made. Going have to get a bit more careful as things grow. |
