I think LST tires on 40s will be pretty tight. I use mine on TwinForce wheels.
Here are some wheel dimensions (diameter x width) :
Maxx: 87 x 56mm
40s: 102 x 86mm
LST: 87 x 77mm

The LST tires fit on standard Maxx wheels no problem, but it makes the tire more narrow. That's why I used the TF wheels in the end, they are a bit wider.

Pics? Not really any new ones. Here are the only 3 I have here.
Rene has some acion shots and even some short vids from my vacation in Holland. Maybe he can upload some?

daniel how much is the difference in ground clearance between the nitro chassis and the g2r chassis in the middle under the gear box. given: same tires, same springs etc.
is there a difference at all?

bye

Dafni 04.20.2006 08:47 AM

I will check tonight!

The lowest point, in both versions, is the front skidplate, by the way.
But If you want, I can check at the center tonight.

Later
DAF

rhylsadar 04.20.2006 08:52 AM

hi
yes i see the lowest point. i am interested in the center height.
thx.

Dafni 04.20.2006 09:28 AM

PM sent!

coolhandcountry 04.20.2006 02:06 PM

Gee daf. I was kind of wondering the same to. The higher center makes for better bashing sometime.

Dafni 04.20.2006 03:11 PM

Just had a close look at both of them. In my stock chassis the tranny sits higher, indeed. A bit less than 2cm difference.
And the Gorilla always seems lower because the center plate is so wide, too.
Yes, the stock chassis is better for bashing, IMHO. The Gorilla screams for tracks.

coolhandcountry 04.20.2006 03:49 PM

Thanks daniel. I keep this in mind if i go revo. I keep looking but haven't got one yet.

Dafni 04.21.2006 04:11 AM

Okay, here are some pics of the underside. It gives you an idea.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...april06016.jpg

I guess all of you know how it looks on a Gorilla, so I haven't bothered taking pics of mine. (Would have been useless in terms of demonstrating the tranny clearance anyway, since I run a center diff)

Hope this clears it up.

coolhandcountry 04.21.2006 09:30 AM

Well the tranny don't hang no lower than the bottom plate on the g2r. Thanks for the pic. I was just wondering which one to go with.

Dafni 04.21.2006 10:00 AM

For bashing I would still go with the stocker, and maybe one of those Hardcore Racing Titanium skids.

rhylsadar 04.21.2006 11:36 AM

thx for the pics.
bye

You're welcome! Always!

ay dafni like ur conversion and plan on doing sumthing like it like every1 else is. i got a question for the tranny mounting on the stock revo chassis did u just line up the tranny with the holes already in the chassis and drill in some other more holes?

Yeah, it seems so :) Glad to be an inspiration to so many people!

Yeah, you have to drill some more, and I "moved" the existing holes with a small round file a bit. Just a mm or so. Actually quite easy to do.

Just LMK when you have more Questions!

DAF

brushless losi 05.04.2006 02:05 AM

yea i was trying to get the driveline in the center straight and ended up shaving more metal so i didnt have enouh meat to drill holes. i may just end up using bits of an e-maxx chassis and bolt on to the revo chassis

Dafni 05.04.2006 03:44 AM

My tranny is off-center. (actually not a bad thing, with one motor)

Check the pic to see how I re-inforced the area around the holes with some alu:

brushless losi 05.04.2006 05:27 AM

thanks dafni these were very helpful u got the info i needed now i need to get some new dremel atachments the chassis chewd mine away i saw the sander shrink every time i started sanding down until it was gone.

Dafni 05.04.2006 05:33 AM

I don't use the dremel for chassis-fights anymore. For this kind of work I use files (rasps), a rough file and a finer file. Full-contact, head-on :) Have fun.

Welcome, mate. Anytime. And make sure to post pics of the finished truck!

DAF

brushless losi 05.04.2006 06:23 AM

thmx for the tip

coolhandcountry 05.04.2006 07:27 AM

I find the file works better in some situations. Just to let you know. It seem more precise and less likely to mess up a chassis. Some time it seems faster to.

Serum 05.04.2006 12:20 PM

Daniel..

I have got both...

the P in my B and the Q on the S...

Dafni 05.04.2006 02:07 PM

Serum, no idea what you are talking about. Altough I came up with some funny versions on your riddle!

Coolhand, yeah, you're right. I generally don't use a Dremel on alu, much prefer files. I also use those small thin files a lot. Back in the days I enjoyed carving wood and soapstone... now I like alu :)

Dafni 05.04.2006 03:56 PM

Oh gosh, I haven't even solved my OWN riddle! :013:

its too bad you didnt find out your own riddle

Serum 05.05.2006 01:20 AM

It wasn't too hard Daniel?
:p

Dafni 05.05.2006 02:16 AM

No, Serum, it wasn't. But somehow I was looking to far.
Lucky boy, you are. But I can't complain either, really.

Boss, I'll spare you ;)

boss 302 05.05.2006 06:51 AM

ok Dafni

Dafni 05.18.2006 05:09 PM

Just an update: Truck is still going strong, became a regular basher here, let all my friends drive it.
Almost no weak spots left, but for those ringgears... stupid things, even with alu diffs, keep shredding them on a regular basis.
Fingers are still crossed for bulkless! Even bought the needed diffs in advance.

Rcbros 05.18.2006 05:25 PM

Dafni, The bulkless will eventually be made by FLM. Its just a matter of them finding the time. There expanding in sales but not in employees. Time is a lost art over their for those guys lol. Not to mention they've had some terrible luck within the last month.

jameschatz 07.04.2006 10:47 AM

Sweet revo Dafni, jus wondering if you had to cut away any of the original chassis?

Inspired me to do one :D

Thanks

squeeforever 07.04.2006 12:06 PM

Yes, you have to cut away about 2+/-mm away so the tranny will fit in the chassis.

jameschatz 07.04.2006 01:45 PM

Thanks alot, now I just gotta find me a roller :S

squeeforever 07.04.2006 01:54 PM

Have you seen the G2R?

jameschatz 07.05.2006 01:02 PM

Yep but a bit expensive for me thanks :)

squeeforever 07.05.2006 01:23 PM

Also, have you seen my E-Revo? I'm gonna try and snap some more pictures soon. It's rather different now.

Dafni 08.15.2006 04:39 PM

Look at this! This thread has more than 10'000 hits! :)
And the good old truck is still going strong! When I look at it now it seems obsolete and like a hack job, all beaten up, nothing with what I would show up at a track, but it does a great job as basher. We bash it really hard.

Thank all of you who posted here.

DAF

coolhandcountry 08.15.2006 05:52 PM

That is cause it was an awesome job of building the first time.
Don't worry daniel. It is character on the truck. Not beat up.

Rcbros 09.14.2006 12:33 AM

Dafni, Now that you've had some time to play with it. I have a quick question.

I'm looking for a semi cheap motor for a truck similar to yours. I have a warrior 9920 esc so I'd like it to work with that controller.

High run times are a must. Nothing to fast, around 35-40 if possible.

LMK what you have in mind. Thanks a bunch!
