Anyway, if (and I mean IF) I decide to go with the 1717, I'll probably need to make a new mount.

You could say that! I sold alot of my "other" rcs to focus on getting the big cool stuff rolling. I have to make aot of parts for these and kinda got worn out with it. Good stuff to fool with in the summer, as my hobby room has AC!

The large diameter of the 1717 will most likely require a custom mount in most applications. Fine with me!

Patric, looks like you put 2025 diameter as the 1717. Is that a pre-introduction? :mdr:

Urgeoner 11.30.2009 08:06 AM

so thats not the correct diameter of the 1717?

rabosi 11.30.2009 11:47 AM

I think Himalaya is right. In post #11 Patrick show a caliper measurement for the 2025 to be 53.67mm. I did a rough comparison measurement from the photo on page one and it seems like the diameter for the 1717 is around 45mm (+/- 1 maybe?).

Unsullied_Spy 11.30.2009 02:25 PM

I'm sticking to the 1717 for my Muggy, will get plenty of pics when it arrives and let you guys know what is needed to make it work.

That measurement is on the end cap, the o.d. of the fins will be quite a bit larger. The 1717 (1.7 diameter rotor) will need to be at least .2 inches larger or about 5mm than a 15 series (1.5 diameter rotor), and more yet if they pack more/larger windings in there.

lincpimp 11.30.2009 04:49 PM

If it is closer to 45mm (like a kb45) it will fit quite easily...

bruce750i 11.30.2009 07:07 PM

IDK, My tekno neu 1515 1y/F is 44mm.

Urgeoner 11.30.2009 07:46 PM

man I sure hope it will fit the Muggy RCM motor mount

Unsullied_Spy 11.30.2009 07:52 PM

Because of the 4mm mounting screws we'll need to drill our RC-M mounts to fit the screws but I bet they'll fit fine. I intend to start off with a 14T pinion, we'll see how well it fits.

Urgeoner 11.30.2009 07:59 PM

oh drilling the holes a little bigger=no problemo!

suicideneil 11.30.2009 09:20 PM

Just ordered my 1518; and now we wait....

Say 1515,the first 15 is the can dia.(w/o fins), not rotor dia. for instance the Neu 15 series has a dia. of 1.53"(39mm). the latter 15 is the rotor magnetic length.

Correct. The endcap is about 0.2mm smaller than the can. With fins added the can gets 1.8mm larger, thats exactly 55.6mm shown on Castle website. It's def a 2025.
I was trying to figure out if my KB45 watercooling jackets fit the 1717 and found this on CC website.

Unsullied_Spy 12.01.2009 12:04 AM

KB45 water jackets fit the 15** CC Neus with a little silicone but I think the 1717 may be too big.

bdebde 12.01.2009 12:58 AM

Oops, yeah, neu does use stator size, sorry. I'm used to the lehners that use rotor size. Regardless, it should be still be about .2 in (5mm) larger at minimum.

himalaya 12.03.2009 04:56 AM

So anyone has the 1717 in hand? What's the exact diameter? (w/&w/o fins)

Electric Eel 12.03.2009 07:21 AM

About 46mm diameter. With the fins about 50mm.

sikeston34m 12.04.2009 10:02 PM

So has anyone got the mean motor they ordered?

We need an update with pitchers.

LOL

Bondonutz 12.04.2009 10:44 PM

Enjoy...

Urgeoner 12.05.2009 12:37 AM

those are some pretty nice pitchers lol
naw but seriously anyone got their motor yet?

snellemin 12.05.2009 12:39 AM

Hopefully before christmas.

Duster_360 12.05.2009 04:32 PM

I ordered a cm 2646 motor with a 1717 as well and several on rctech have gotten their 2646s. I guess the 1717 is not ready or the packaging needed for it is not ready. The confimation email I received said 1 to 2 weeks (that was on 12/3). Should be before Xmas....

rabosi 12.09.2009 12:24 PM

I see CC has updated the dimensions info on the 1717. O.D. with fins is 49.95 mm. About 8mm more than their 15 series.

NickRummy 12.09.2009 05:49 PM

Just got this from CC and there's only one thing I'm expecting from them

A package was shipped to you on 12/09/2009 via U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail to the following address:

Unsullied_Spy 12.09.2009 05:54 PM

Sweet! Hopefully I'll get mine soon, too. I think I ordered mine the day after they were available to order, hopefully not too many people jumped on it....

snellemin 12.09.2009 06:12 PM

I got a confirmation as well.

suicideneil 12.09.2009 06:21 PM

Me too :yipi:

Unsullied_Spy 12.09.2009 07:11 PM

So when will the 2025 be coming out ? My 1.1m Deep-Vee is waiting for the green monster.

ZippyBasher 12.10.2009 01:57 AM

My question is when will these be hitting the big Dealers? IE Tower... I got a birthday coming and I could use this as an excuse for a bigger motor LOL

Right now our quantities are pretty limited on these motors. We should be getting more in late Jan.

Patrick

bruce750i 12.10.2009 12:23 PM

I got my tracking info yesterday, it says it should show up today. Now how can I leave work to set up my ambush on the UPS guy? Ding Dong.....(Spilt second later, acting all casual like I was just walking by the door when the door bell rang instead of sitting in stealth mode waiting for the sound of the brownie truck) "Hello?"

nitrostarter 12.10.2009 12:44 PM

Wish I had the funds....

riverat1540 12.10.2009 01:16 PM

Me as well but its only a matter of time before one of those 1520's is mine

bruce750i 12.10.2009 07:51 PM

The shaft size is also wrong on the chart for the 1717:whip: Somehow they conveniently missed this error, it's 6.0mm! Anyway here are some pics.

Motors look reallll nice, my 1800kver should be coming any day now. BTW sorry about your 1717.

snellemin 12.10.2009 08:40 PM

3 motors!!! Santa has been good.

sikeston34m 12.10.2009 08:40 PM

Hmmmm............I wonder if Castle will start carrying the pinions for the 6mm shaft size?

Nobody offers them at a fair price as of yet.

MetalMan 12.10.2009 09:14 PM

If you use a plastic spur then SDP-SI has 12, 14, 15, 18, 20 tooth 6mm bore Mod1 pinions in carbon steel for $10-18 depending on the gear. These could possibly be hardened and used with steel spur gears...
