That's a whole spring/summer of racing and bashing on 4S with a few times having fun on 6S so they are very durable. An original idea from Lincpimp and I thank you for it.

I can't remember if I mentioned how I install them in the bulkheads now, I shave down some material on the aluminum cases of the diffs so that leaves the bulkheads intact except for a small portion that has to be Dremeled to accommodate for the front of the diffs where the two screws are. Here's a few pics, I hope they are self explanatory. This way of doing it coupled with the diff blocks really holds up to some serious abuse.

Based on your mods.

I took 1 step futher and did a machined version of the LST-revo diff mod... Removing the exact amount of material to fit and un modified Bulkhead (but the bolt part)

Here´s and album of it.

That is one tight fit. Nice work on that molak.

Deahttub 03.31.2011 04:11 PM

Molak,

Amazing work! My xxl diffs look nothing like those! I have a cpl extra cases...how much would you charge to machine them like you did??

lincpimp 03.31.2011 04:14 PM

Very nice Molak, This is what I originally wanted to do. Bit I lack the machine tools, and cutting the plastic bulk is much easier for me.

I am sure those cases would sell like hotcakes...

molak 03.31.2011 05:57 PM

Since Im from Argentina shipping costs and import duties (50%!!) will make those cases expensive!

I'll check how much that case cost in the nearest losi dealer to get an aproximate. But any machinist can do those. Maybe Mike could make them ..

I'm one of those ...

btw: LST cases are made from a quite soft material and are injected, which makes them porous...

Yes those cases are not the best, but they are the only option I know of right now to have an 8th scale drive line in the E-Revo.

Dude where did you get those brass inserts that you have used in the bulkhead???? I have a new bulkhead and found that some of the holes are striped right off the bat. I would really like to find those and put them in my truck... Thank you for your time...

molak 04.08.2011 12:53 AM

You should ask to Mistercrash.

But i think he used something like this

Those could work Molak. The ones I used I found at Tower Hobbies. They are distributed by Dubro. They don't come with metric threads so I got some 4/40 brass inserts which I tapped with M3 threads and some 8/32 inserts which I tapped with M4 threads. A trick I use to screw the inserts in the plastic is to heat them a bit with the flame of a lighter or even a heat gun. I heat them up just enough so they are easier to screw in the plastic. I let it cool and then I can extract the screw that was used to insert the insert.

Otherwise Tony's Screws has 4mm ones. Next time I order from him I was going to pickup a set. He has nice deals on very high quality hardware.

I tried the Tony Screws style inserts and after a couple started twisting in the plastic preventing me from removing the part, I went back to the screw style inserts.

Thanks for the heads up MC! I know what would solve our bulkhead issues.... the FLM combo bulk! Hopefully soon... :oh:
