Looks great, wow, that thing will have some power and then some more and when you're begging for mercy there will still be more power!!!
|
 Cheers guys.
Well, I took it out for a test-drive today...and I'm very pleased so far. I couldn't get a vid as I couldn't get hold of anyone to do it (and it would've been lame anyway), but so far, no problems! At the moment it's very controllable and driveable, but I have punch control maxxed-out. Obviously I'm now going to totally disable this, and I'm gonna do a proper test-drive tomorrow. I'll give a full report then (and hopefully a vid) as it's late now...but I'm VERY happy.:yipi: |
Ok guys...I just got back in from a proper run, after disabling Punch Control and tightening up the diff.
WOW.:surprised: I have it geared for just over 60mph according to Brian's calc, and after about 20 mins of moderate bashing about, the motor only just scraped 100F! She's got all the power you'd expect from this setup, but in such a relatively light truck, the motor really does throw it around. Wheelies at any speed, and no drivetrain issues whatsoever. She even took a couple of nasty tumbles with no problems; which is just why I chose the Havoc. What really surprised me, though, is just how driveable the truck is. Being RWD, I was expecting it to be sketchy...but far from it. On tarmac and grass, it launches controllably and predictably, and braking is also drama-free. Cornering was brilliant; it almost felt like a 4WD, until you hit the gravel. The V1 Monster presented no problems whatsover either; it was pretty smooth, and braking was exceptional as I already said. I couldn't get a temp on it, but it can't have been stressed in this setup. I didn't temp the Elite LiPo, but I did touch it once; it was just about luke-warm. I'd say around 70-80F. Top speed was the thick-end of fast, too; must've been close on 50-60mph. I did get a (fairly naff) video which I'll upload to YouTube sometime soon, but I LOVE this thing!:yipi: Thanks for all your interest and advice on this thing guys, I really appreciate it.:yipi: |
Sounds great. It will look great once a cinematic display shows up on my screen.

That looks great! Nice conversion. That's the best havoc I've seen.
|
It's a really nice conversion, it's looking good. I think the CC Neu is a perfect choice, your Havoc is powerful but not uncontrollable, just as it should be. I've seen better videos (:na:) but it's just a cool truck, 5 Stars on Youtube.

Cheers guys! Lol agreed, the vid is *rubbish* I just took her out today again to a much larger green, with a gravelly area on the side. This thing is TOO much fun! I'm having a little trouble maxxing out the throttle, as at near-top end, the front gets very light indeed, even if I'm super-easy on it...and earlier, I pushed it too far. Too much throttle too soon, the rear of the bodyshell dug into the ground, and I got to watch a 50mph somersault!:surprised: It really was a cringe moment, but all that happened was a ball stud being pulled out of a front C-Hub. Shame I didn't get that on video! lol.
And being RWD, donuts are lethal (I'll remember to move at least 50m away next time I try one on gravel lol)! Great fun.:yipi: |
Sweet looking project dagger thrasher.
I bet that is a blast to play with. You know the finish weight? |
|
Thanks Coolhand. Read to run (with battery and shell), she's weighing in at 4.4kg (9.7lbs), which I guess isn't too bad. Then again, it was my cheapo digital bathroom scales...so who knows how accurate they are lol.
S.Nase, thanks for the link. I just chucked it through Babelfish, and it's interesting stuff. |
