No updates on the e-bike. Got probably 12 miles on it total. Haven't ridden it since school started.
That's sweet you got a scooter like that! I need something along those lines.. My father doesn't like the motorcycle idea. I want to swap the electronics to a scooter.. |
Just wait for heavy trash pickup and scan the streets for "stuff". I was actually on the way to drop off the parts at the machine shop we use on Friday so I drove up and down the streets around since it was heavy trash day. I have already picked up lawn mowers, 4 gas weed eaters, and a coupple of sets of M&K speakers along with a Polk center channel and a Klipsch speaker and a subwoofer. The tweeters were blown in 3 of M&k's but I was able to fix 2 of them (the others had been overdriven so hard the coils were de laminating from the forms).
Found a set of 12V 12Ah on Ebay for about 30 shipped but I noticed that there are 9Ah batteries that I could use 4 in the same space and have 18Ah Jeff |
Heavy track pickup- we don't get that here. You lucky bastard...
|
That's CA for you I guess everything just gets recycled? Well I do my own recycling, you know what they say ones mans trash....
Well You have scrap yards don't you? I have found Jet bandsaws and a few of those little baby crotch rockets and they will sell them to you for next to nothing like about $60-75. Jeff |
Yeah, there's a few scrap yards around. I suppose I should check them out sometime.
|
No my Young friend, you must check every day or so this stuff doesn't hang around very long. Some places will set stuff out that they may be able to sell but if it doesn't sell in a day or 2 it gets recycled.

Well last night I took a look on craigslist. Someone was selling a scooter for $25. After a few communications, they said they wanted to do a gas conversion. I threw a trade out there for my mini-bike as a roller and they took er up. I went and got it this morning. Everything is good except for the batteries. I am going to put my BL electronics on this scooter. :yipi:
It should be more efficient with the skinnier tires. It has better brakes and an optional seat. It has a larger "spur" so top speed will probably be slower.. Let's see how it turns out. http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/S7302080.jpg http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/S7302079.jpg |
I just got er all wired up. Works perfect! my gps tells me my top speed was 16.2mph... Not to impressive. :sarcastic: The batteries measured 23.5v at the end of the run. I hope I can crack 20 or so with some lipos...
I am going to try to hook up my multimeter to the bike and see how much my voltage drops during riding. I'll see if I can get pics up later tonight. |
It's a sleeper. Maybe a little more so if I could get a new speed controller and 9s lipos under the hood... Oh how I wish I had money.
No run with volt meter tonight. My dad's making pasta and It's pretty dark out. I feel like hanging it up for the day too. Don't know how I'll hook the volt meter up. http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/S7302083.jpg http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/S7302084.jpg http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/S7302086.jpg http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/S7302087.jpg http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/S7302089.jpg I love brushless stuff. :mdr: |
Cool, more useful than a pocketbike. How are those electronics working for you? Do you have any interest in my SLAs? I have 3 12v 12ah and 1 18v 7ah.

I forgot to mention there is no losing sync or cogging! :yipi:
I have pretty noticable acceleration. I have to put one of my feet on the back and push myself forward or else I fall backwards. And last night I went to test it after I charged the batteries, and it didn't turn on. I think the servo tester is getting too much voltage, the battery is around 12.5v. I'll need a new way to power the servo tester. I'll have to use a bec, especially after I get lipos. |
16 MPH is pretty good, but it would be nice to get that up around 25-30. Think you could fit another motor in there and gear it up a bit?

I just took it out with fresh batteries and I got 19.3mph. With the added power I need to accelerate slowly or something starts rattling real bad. Maybe it's the motor starting to lose sync... It had noticably more power and a pretty acceptable top speed. It would beat the stock scooter for sure. Looked it up and the stock is supposed to be 15mph. I would say 19mph is pretty fast, which is probably why the stock doesn't go that fast. With some lipos I expect a full 20-25mph after what I saw tonight. Possibly more if I risked 7s. |
it needs a flux capacitor!LOL, i havent been on this site long, but projects like this make this site addicting!--josh
