Gustav, the theory sounds right, and if it worked it would be a killer, you could have a self adjusting brake bias.

As It comes with an open diff in the kit, I'll work with that and try a few weights.

I would buy a center torsen if the spur adapter mike made me would fit to it, I have never scene one in person if it uses the same spur gear as stock then the adapter would fit, but it looks like it comes with the spur gear already attached, I dont think I want to use a steel spur gear, although it may be a good idea with the 2240 if I can find a super hard pinion.

squeeforever 05.18.2006 01:15 PM

Mike started selling hardened pinions if thats the route your gonna go although I would stick with plastic.

Dafni 05.18.2006 04:59 PM

nl12, your adapter plate wont fit a torsen diff. But actually it would be very easy to make an adapter for an (ofna) torsen, because the piece which holds the bearing and the output shaft is not part of the spur. You would only need to make a disc with a big hole in the center and 6 small holes around (the ofna torsen uses only 2 screws to attach the spur to the diff)

I will set it up without a torsen, hopefully I will get it running next week, Mike is helping me out on the motor mount. I am getting some titanium turnbuckles, King Headz parts, aluminum arm holders, shock parts, and a few other things today just so I can play with the truck, I like taking it apart and putting it back together :027: I would rather be driving it though

well I have a Hong Nor CRT X1 :004: at last, doesn't sound as cool as a Jammin' but hey this IS the UK , what did I expect. :p
A Couple of Red eye nights later, and its now ready for some Brushless.
question is what?
What I want is a killer race set up, plenty of torque 40mph and a good 10mins or more with the throttle on.
I do have a 7XL and a 8XL already and a Quark125 speedo.
would either of these be the choice, or is it time for a Lehner.
Also any advice on lipo choice for this set up would be great.

always greatful.......steve

coolhandcountry 06.04.2006 08:15 AM

The 8xl may get you the 10 min but i find it close with a 7xl. A lehner will be great as well. If you take and try the motors you have then go from there. That is a good thing about owning a few before hand.

Serum 06.04.2006 08:35 AM

yeh, but the 8xl would do nice on 5 or 6S lipo.

about the lipo's

flightpowers are the lipo's you want. they are in the UK as well.

Hong nor, ofna, jammin' it's all the very same product.

Cabking;
I am running a hyper 7 on an 8XL with 4s li ion (pretty close in Voltage to li po).

I have been testing for a few weeks.
Running 13/44 gearing. Speed I would guess around 30 MPH
Race conditions tests for 10 min races.
Motor requires a FAN to stay with the 150 F With a fan the motor is fine.
The weak link is the 9920 gets hot.
Run times on a 6000 MAH battery is unknow. I ran 45 min yesterday (with pit stops and cool down periods) and it only used 4500 mah.

If I were to do it over again I would get a 9XL 5s lipos and a Quark 125.

I may have to goto to 10xl or 9XL 5s or 6s lipos to get the amps down, to try and keep the 9920 cooler to race a 20 min race.

Thanks for the imput guys,
I should have remebered Flightpower, they sold me my 18.97.........still I wont hold it against them. :027:

this would be nice but at 258mm its too long for the chassis http://www.flightpower.co.uk/core/da...a_5s2p5000.htm

this one would fit better, http://www.flightpower.co.uk/core/da...a_5s1p3700.htm but i'm not sure the runtime would be enough....

Dan, did the 9920 cut out? I'm guessing it had a fan

Serum 06.05.2006 06:02 PM

Did you used a fan on your 9920, Dan?

fishmasterdan 06.05.2006 08:51 PM

No fan on the 9920 (yet). It has not cut out yet.
There is 2 tracks close by. One is very fast with BIG jumps and good traction one is smaller and poor traction.
Amazingly the faster track keeps everthing cooler (I guess alot more airflow) but it is HARD on the car.

On the bigger track the jumps are larger and I had to put rear support on the motor because the motor mount came apart. I WISH SOMEONE WOULD MAKE A MOTOR MOUNT I COULD BUY THAT WOULD INCORPORATE THE DIFF SUPPORT..

Trying not to Hijack we need to get back on track.

coolhandcountry 06.05.2006 09:30 PM

Well you draw more amps to get the car up to speed. It is easier to keep the car there than getting it there. That is why it gets hotter. Have you considered a pinion change. go down a tooth or so for the shorter track.

squeeforever 06.05.2006 10:21 PM

Dan, why not use some of the mount/clamps they use on boats? 2 of them can suppoer the hole motor.

giftacrylic 06.24.2006 09:02 AM

I also plan on converting a X1-CRT. What pinion/spur combo would work best on a 9920 / 7XL?
