Silver5 - they are stainless steel screws from my local hardware store for the V--MAXX build. The # two is using the screws from FLM for that truck's upgrade.

Thanks. I know Tony's Screws are the best but I am thinking of running in wet weather and I hate rusting screws.

So Silver5, can you post which screws you decided to use? No more bent, rusted or stripped head screws is a good thing!

Hi, I haven't decided on what screws to use yet. I believe RCscrews make stainless steel screws but they aren't as strong as Tony's screws.

Silver5, here's another consideration in case you are still researching:http://www.rcscrewz.com

The FLM #2 truck is ready for a brushless system. Now the fun part begins - choosing the combo that I like!:party:

looks good .....
buy some electronics and get it dirty .... :)

Bravo! Looks great man!

For screws, I ended up buying a couple different packs of 100 stainless screws in different sizes. I use them in different vehicles so it was better than buying those prepackaged packs. I feel I got better quality this way as well.

lol Tinuss! This truck was purchased in September of 2009. It has been really dirty. However, I learned from my grandfather, years ago, to always clean up the things that will require maintenance later. He was talented in building many things - including his own homes and repairing his own cares. This list could go on. So, anytime I run the trucks, when I get home they will get cleaned up. (makes them easier to work on later)

Nitrostarter, that's the reason I have been purchasing those stainless steel screws from the local hardware store. The quality of the screws are good.

Whew! There has been a few upgrades for the #number two truck. I certainly have considered purchasing the brushless combo for the truck. But, I will do a couple more upgrades from Robinson Racing and Hot Racing. I like Proline's-F-100-1956 body as well.

V-Maxx Chassis build still in process.

Maxxamongus 04.05.2017 09:56 PM

I had some issues with my 1/8th scale diff upgrades on my builds. I changed the diff case gaskets that measured 0.55 mm in thickness, to 0.50 mm and the diff challenges do not exist any longer. In fact, did not need to shim the diffs at all. They are operating like they were factory built. And, for me that was good news!

Neat looking ride! I'd change the stainless countersunk screws for the standard 12.9's though. Those stainless bolts are rather soft and might shear on impact and the allen head strips out rather easy too. I know mcmaster sells some blue 12.9's in countersunk as well. They are dark blue. Avoid the a2 stainless bolts.

Maxxamongus 04.08.2017 11:17 PM

Thanks Serum for the information! I'll check those mcmasters 12.9's out.
