Will do linc... Still worried on if I should even run it? I would like to sell it but would have no idea what I would get for it? Its basically brand new. Has only 3 runs on it.

This is why I like linc's posts as compared to others who just try something a couple of times, don't really test it throughly. then claim how great it is. (the others part is mainly referring to people on other boards, no this one)
This is one of those sites I read about 1000 times more than I ever post. There is always a lot of information on here, and a lot of detail. This is actually one of the few sites that doesn't constantly flame people. As far as trying to get 60 takedown, is there a specific reason you are using the 8xl. I got my pede (full FLM widened and lengthened, MM, 5700kv, 3s) up to 60. I think it was geared like 19/86. The nice thing about the MM is a controlled the punch and modified the throttle curve to help keep the front end on the ground and didn't have to use weights. It still wants to try and fly though. However, I have since grown bored with it and it is on it's way out the door although I will keep the MM ESC and sell everything else. If you are still on the plastic drive shafts don't worry, mine held up fine. Edit: oh yeah and that was proline street hawg tires. |
I agree this has been a very good read. I knew that the VXL wasn't made by Traxxas, but I wasn't really sure until I ran it, which it ran like my old feigao. Pretty powerful but still lacked. It has been a great car for me so far (3rd brushless believe it or not, thought I would know a thing or two by now :P) but I wouldn't mind going a bit more. The one thing I like about it though is the fact it has flexible wires, unlike my last feigao. Do Hacker motors have a similair wire? As the solid wires on my last Feigao were a pain. I guess my questions are a bit noobish, but i've been away from the brushless talk for a while now.

The reason I want to use the 8xl is because its the only motor that is suited for 5s that I have at the moment besides outrunners which wont work.

That's cool, I have no doubt the 8XL will sling it to 60 and beyond on 5s. I just wanted you to know it could be done cheaper.
