I dropped the punch control fro 80% to 50%. The truck run great but the diff is unloading now. I just finished putting ofna diff lock lube in the CD and am on wy way out to test it now.

15 min run, much better with the CD. it doesn't unload but still has enough give in the fluid that it functions. that ofna diff lock lube is the stickiest stuff I have ever been around honey to the 10th power. lol

I went out:
12 old nimh
mm settings:
Punch control: 50%
motor timing: normal
brake: 45%
1st bar on throttle curve raised to 10%

all other settings at default

14 minutes of dead starts and hard stops and hard corners under power (still under powered) and the fronts showed zero signs of ballooning and it certainly has not lost any handling, amazingly no cogging, even with the crap batteries. castle nailed it with this last update.

I have the suspension pretty dialed in right now, but that will all have to be readjusted when the lipos arrive.

Thank you everyone who has helped me get my 1st conversion drivable. Special notes to Serum and BrianG, I could not have done it with out you guys! . Here's looking forward to project completion. :D

Glad to hear you got it dialed!

The lipos will have more punch and probably be lighter than the NiMHs you're using so you might have to increase the punch control a bit more to compensate for the added grunt...

More voltage too! They will definitely be lighter. 12 nimh with the voltage of 10 nimh compared to a new 4s 8000 mah lipo pack is just not comparable.

You calculator and my gearing on 4s is just over 40 mph, which is great for 80% of my bashing. 5s pushes it to just over 50.

It feels like it will take even less punch control than I have set now. I'll try tomorrow. Yes I am trying to destroy these old batteries. Revo testing is their last stand ;)

Friday I am buying my 1st lipo battery for this thing. I only have budget for 1 pack right now since I still need dirt tires and a body.

My question is should I get a 4s pack 1st and get used to the power or should I go straight balls out into 5s?

RUSTY XL-5 02.12.2008 12:51 PM

Go 5 cell and hang on tight!!!

BrianG 02.12.2008 01:09 PM

I agree. You can always set the EPA on your radio lower until you get used to the power.

pipeous 02.12.2008 02:18 PM

what if your mamba can't take the 5 cels? some versions can't from what I have read. if you buy a 5s pack and can't use it, you'd certainly be PO'd... I know I would be.

squeeforever 02.12.2008 02:32 PM

If that was the case, just take a cell out and re-shrink it.

I have an ubec and it has GriffinRu stage 1 mod, plus 12ga wires and castle 5mm connectors. I think it should be ok? The MM is only until the MMM is released. I guess to be on the safe side I can get a 4s pack until the MMM is available...... I don't know, I hate these decisions.

I was almost decided on 5s until doubt of the MM's power handling was put into my head.

got a shell for it:

I like very much.

So whats the plan for this truck anyway? Certainly looks nice... will it be a show car or a racer or basher or what? I'm pretty much assuming from the center diff that you'll be racing? maybe only on road by the looks of those tyres :P lol revo tourer conversion, now thatd be interesting... pointless maybe? haha. nice work anyway, I like the colouring. particularly the silver chassis and black dyed rockers.

DickyT 02.14.2008 11:16 AM

Thank man. The truck will be a basher that might see some track time if I can find a gorup that will let me run with them. The local tracks are nitro based with no BL classes. And the nitro guys do not want to run against electrics.

I have another set of Wabash that I need to dye and mount a set of bowties or crime fighters too for dirt. The road rages are just for my condo and work parking lots.

I put the center diff in so it is not a wheelie machine. bashing or not i like to have all 4 on the ground unless jumped.

86ragtopstang 02.14.2008 11:23 AM

i just noticed a somewhat odd issue with my revo project. when you move the truck forward wheels dont turn. push it backwards and they do. is this a brake issue?
