I believe you basically need the LST2 alloy diff case and diff, then perform the required mods to a bit of plastic plumbing, and drill out a maxx diff collar.

I love my Ultralite/HB diff, but it is very expensive by comparison.

100% correct!

and yes ive been looking at the UE arms though im not sure if I want to use them??!?!?!

Ok so im really thinking about doing this conversion as the diffs are much cheaper then the hot bodies ones. My only concern is the outdrives for the transmission. Have any of you done a center diff in a stock chassis? And is not is it even possible?

The bling can wait :) I wana get this sucker running :yipi:

mriccucci- A center diff on the stock 3906 or 3905 chassis would be entirely possible (anything is possible with the right tools & some imagination). I would envisage something like a center diff unit taken from a 1/8 buggy/truggy, mounted to a metal/CF plate, and then bolt that to the chassis rails/braces, so that the whole unit pokes up through the hole (which would need enlarging) in the middle of the chassis- then just run the center driveshafts to the front and rear diffs. The motor would need to be bolted to a seperate mount, above the chassis and be adjustable up * down for gear mesh. Not the simplest idea, but do-able with a little effort.

Yep, bling can wait, so long as the mutant truck actually runs, thats the important thing

Does anyone have a list of the major manfactures that run a mod1 gear in the center diff? Im looking to either fabricate a chasis around a center diff, or use the FLM Chassis and add a center diff plate. Any suggestions?

Your best bet is a kyosho 44t plactic spur, and a diff cup from an ofna hyper, Hot bodies, or kyosho. They all fit the same way, and can use the same spur, internals etc.

Linc hit the nail on the head, MOST if not all 1/8th diffs are very similar if not interchangeable...The ones that I know off hand that are not are Sportwerks/Losi are a bit more narrow then others.

hey its me, im after a few of the compnets that you have used in your build. The first is the cross beams that you have? It looks to me like they came off a gmaxx chassis. The other is the main chassis plate. Im assuming that its home made. If so what did you use to cut it? And what thickness is the metal?

suicideneil 04.01.2008 06:25 PM

Cross beams? You mean the chassis braces/rails- they are upside down FLM extended chassis braces.

Any idea if i can buy just thoose from FLM?

suicideneil 04.02.2008 05:34 PM

I dont believe so- you would have to email FLM and ask pretty-please to buy just them on their own, separate from the chassis.

Paralyzed- did you get them from Mike?

_paralyzed_ 04.03.2008 01:28 AM

suicide- yes, custom r/c monster! ssspconcepts and I are the only ones with one so far, he has much better pics in the customer feedback and testimonial section on the first page under the heading: RC Monster direct drive unit for FLM E-Maxx
