Some guy in rcgroups said the A123 IPO will be out later this week. I will be watching for it.
|
A123, I've been waiting for that too. I'll have to pick some up regardless. :)
I'm wondering about a pullback too, but I think we are mostly good thru this month. Really everyone's felt a bit edgy since april since things have moved up from march lows. Couple dips, but no big pull back yet surprisingly. I don't see a huge reason so far as all the data has generally been positive. Felt more bullish than I have all year (which may be a bad sign, idk lol.) I think there are some pushes to show some good gains for the Q and year end. We'll see what Oct and Nov brings. I don't see any reason we should have any massive dips unless secondary effects of the recession are unleashed (ie high inflation, commercial real estate, % interest rate hikes, big fall in $, end of Fed money, other worries out there.) I personally don't see anything coming anytime soon, but I really know nothing when it comes to these things (prolly the safest assumption imo.) I think Jan-Feb is going to go in the doldrums perhaps. After year end, but waiting for further direction on the new year. Hopefully we will just see slow and steady gains on out, but that's awfully optimistic and really you've got to be ready for anything. Who knows what news will come. By quite a bit of good fortune and timing, my retirement accts and investment accts will have done pretty well this year. I'd really like to hold & build on them. In a way, the Great Recession has been a once in a lifetime opportunity for the fortunate, but I'm sure there plenty of surprises ahead. |

Slow and steady growth will be good. There seems to be news of companies that will be BK sometime in the near future and that will play a big part of any big dips and that might cause a little panic which can become a big panic specially after what we saw. Good thing about the stock market is that you can bet on stocks when it goes down . |
Man, I was happy at 1% gain, but then it went red. The big winner today was scarletboa. Use the buying power scarletboa.
|
So A123 stock is at $13.50 and I have no buying power at all. I'm also frustrated that I was planning on buying more BAYN at a very good price, but decided to sell the few shares I had and now look at it, it's above $3+. It could've been a good day if I had invested a few million in it at bellow the $2+ I paid for it. I hope the market comes back to green.
Edit: Goodness...Look at A123 (AONE) go. From $13.50 to $18.80+ and seems to be going higher lol. I guess people really like A123 lol. Too bad they only have 6 batteries so far and only 3 in production. I guess they forgot to add in one of the SEC Files that they own Enerland. |
Mine is getting hit pretty bad today too, bit on a downcycle, but no worries. No buying power at all tho. :(
AONE is rocking. I'll look at getting it once the excitement slows down. |

I just checked after hours and AONE is already down $0.40+.
|
Haven't been looking at the game lately (until my picks swing back up to get buying power, there's no point...)
but, I saw AONE is on a bit of a tear today, last was ~$21.5 last time I saw. Wonder what it will do after the Q3 is over. Their earnings can't be too good, they are still losing $, and there should be some charges w. the IPO I would think. It was @ 18.5 yesterday, but I wonder how it will do over Oct. On the upside they raised over $400M on the IPO, so there should be some good things down the road. |

A123 has to come out with new and better products. I think they still have a law suit pending against them. Do you think Enerland is making them a few bucks? I haven't heard anything about it and they didn't even mention Enerland in their SEC Files. I think the investors going with it are lacking a lot of information and just going with the trend. We will see a Green Tech bubble bursting in a few years from now. |
Man, AONE is still off to the races, over $24 now....I still it has to come down, I hope. :)
Haven't looked at things in a couple days and things have gotten a bit ugly. Whole market is pulling things down. I hope this doesn't continue for the month. Jul-Sept was awesome, I just hope we don't give up all/much of those gains |
Quote:
Could this be the dip that everyone's been talking about? I'm getting pounded and that little glitch with the prices just made it awful . I'll hold a bit to see what new year will bring. One lucky member got in AONE and is doing good with it. |

if it drops again to below what i paid, i have more buying power. i'll just get more, lol |
Nice, I wanted to get some on Tues when it dropped to low 18s, but didn't have any buying power. I almost bought some w/ some real money then too, but decided I'm going to hang out in cash for a while (plus IDK if its the best deal out there, but that doesn't always matter.) I almost bought some AEZ and BIOF then too, but held off and they both rebounded this week.
Not sure where things are headed and had some good gains over the summer, but I don't want to see them evaporate while the market figures out the next direction. Think I'll wait for some deals to come along. I think my portfolio is going to be crappy for the next few weeks. Maybe by the end of the month things will get moving. |
Jesus, AONE might hit 27 today.
I'm going to do somehting crazy and short it. I said back in July I wouldn't short again... Oh well, Fridays are good for doing stupid stuff. |
You guys are doing good. I'm taking a pounding, but as soon as I get back into the buying power, I'll start playing safer bets.

No biggie as everything goes up and down, just hope not to go down to 15th again before it heads up. Missed my limit on the A123 short. We'll see what happens on Mon. It was just a dayorder. |
So AONE did crash after it hit $27. We'll see where it goes.
The AEZ I mentioned above kept on going. Its over $2.60 now from $1.60. I nearly bought some of this w/ my real money, but after it moved upto $1.90 while I was pondering, I gave up on it (figured it was good to ~$2.) Goddamit, its over +60% in a week. PNX has been kicking ass too, over $4 from 2.75 low last week (YTD high.) So I got all my cash/buying power back.... BUT.... There is a F'up in one of my stocks. They did a reverse split and the #of shares didn't change. I have like $7.5M now. I figure I should be at $2.2M or so. I can't figure out how to fix it, and I want to do some trading as PNX is up so high, but I don't want to go over when the one stock corrects and screws my actual buying power over. I have $3-4M in buying power lol. I'm trying to estimate my real power while I wait. When I first saw it I thought something huge happened, but later figured it out and was pretty sad. Thought I'd give Luciano a run... guess not :) |

Shite, its still messed up. How can I fix it? PNX is now upto ~4.50 and I should have tons of buying power, but the other one is screwing up the real value. Their help section is useless. I should be closing in on 2.5M I think if things were right.
|
Today might be a good day for you guys. The Futures are looking good and the World's markets are basically all green.
|
Dow over 10000. W00t.
Cashed some things out today, but overall things look strong. My acct is still overvalued about $5M. I got a reply back on that email, but they said to email someone else. |
Quote:
Let me know what they say and if they'll fix it. I would've had over $100 million if I had kept my AIG shares before they had the split. |
Quote:
I wish You would think the game would know how to handle the splits. They are not that uncommon, and they seem to have a good number of players, so having to go into every acct everytime there is a split could be a fulltime job. |

My CMCS.A shares got fixed. Put me back in 9th! Woohoo.

I've emailed them 5 times now on the price issue and so far no resolution. I'm thinking its not going to get fixed...
I just now looked at the market for today, and it was ugly there. WTF, big freakout on the Wells downgrade. Not a good sign. Previous worries proved unfounded, but IDK. We've had such a good recovery its had to end/slow before too long. Maybe the jig is finally up. What I've been hoping to do is make it thru to early Nov when PNX has earnings release and hopefully some news. After that I don't have too many plans other than some conservative oils. I'd like to head to cash for the most part before too long and wait it out a bit. Made a quite a bit of $, and want to keep it and not get greedy chasing the last 10% down a hole. hmm.... |

I'll be holding my positions through good or bad news. I really don't know when and if the markets will go downhill, but people will be taking some profits like always and now they're prpbably worried as well from what had happaned. More and more companies are still getting rid of hard working employees, closing plants, closing for good and going BK. We'll see how everything goes. |
wow, i've been getting hammered for a few days now. AONE just dropped below what i originally paid, so i used the last $350,000 of my buying power to buy 15,000 more shares.
|
hehe, I've been getting pounded too today. My major holding, PNX, got killed today. I had sold some off at $4.4, but its dropped down to $3.6. Wish I sold more off, but eh. Holding some cash so I'll see where it levels out. Market has looked a bit ugly lately, but I hate moving too fast as its easy to sell yourself out on a little dip and miss the bounce back up. Hopefully the correction is short lived.
|
Man, I was happy when the market was up and then I didn't check it and then :surprised:. I'll just hold my positions for now and see where it'll take me.
|
OMG..still dropping. Really wish I would have sold more off. My PNX is down to $3.0x from ~$4.5.
Bunch of things got nailed. Hopefully market reaches a bottom soon as things get way oversold. Damn, if I only went to more cash sooner.... buying power dies bc of the margins. Ack... |

Its bad when many of the major 401k funds we're offered at work have a YTD return of 40%, but the 10yr is 3%. For F's sake, might as well buy something safe, wait for a bubble to burst, put it in during the recovery, then get the F out again. In the meantime, you're way way ahead, so I got to work a bit harder :) I knew it was time to sell when you starting seeing a lot of blogs and message boards lighting up lately talking about how "we are taking this b!tch to $X.X." Doing the opposite of the herd turns out right more often than not it seems. |

Finnster,
Do you have any Pharmaceuticals in your portfolio (Not in the game)? If so, do they make the H1N1 vaccine? OT: This will play a big part when I get the information from my uncles and a few other people. |
