So far.... Not a single bean spilled????

Dafni 03.07.2007 03:15 AM

LOL No, the cat's still in the bag :)

But here's good news: I finally have my compressed air system running in my house. Complete with moisture trap, taps and valves in my hobby room. Now I will finally be able to get some bodies done.

The lack of worthy bodies kept me from putting the new rides on to the cat-walk :)
And yes, I realize you want to see them naked anyway, but bear with me. I want to have them completed.

BlackedOutREVO 03.07.2007 03:16 AM

JUST POST THE CAR!!!!!!!!!! lol

suicideneil 03.12.2007 04:13 PM

Just spent the last 3 hours reading through all your E-revo threads etc and assimilatiing all the detail and pictures; you got skills boy (understatement of the century). Any new pics of the truck? Though I find it hard to believe you could improve it any further.....

Dafni 03.13.2007 03:02 AM

Thank you for the kind words, Neil. No new pics at the moment, BUT: I got the okay from the Monster to post some! I will snap some new ones, and post some I took during the last rebuild too.
I hated not sharing it, but that's the thing about testing. And I haven't expected people to ask me for new pics either. Next time I should just build a new one :)

Anyway, pics will follow soon. But here's a list of the goodies. Most are custom made, the extension and "tranny" were done by Mike and me.

-custom extended rear plates, for 1/8 scale dimensions
-6mm Titanium pushrods and turnbuckles, homegrown
-1/8 scale diffs, 3 of them :)
-revo slipper, AKA Slipperential, with nice motor mount.
-rear sway bar, homegrown
-custom wing mounting plate
-flextek arms with custom bushings
-RD Racing axle carriers and 23mm hex-nuts

That's about it, I think. Stay tuned for pictures!

Daf

And i can promise you;

It will look STUNNING! it's not a vehicle.. It's a high tech precision Swiss instrument

Dafni 03.13.2007 03:13 AM

Thank you Rene! You only ever saw fragments, though. I hope you'll like the complete one just as much.

Sylvester 03.13.2007 10:09 AM

Damn daf! Sounds similar to some of my ideas! Is Mike gonna carry those homegrown 6mm pushrods/turnbuckles ?

Dafni 03.13.2007 03:07 PM

I never asked Mike about pushrods/turnbuckles, I made them here. No doubt he could do them, but I don't think there's a real market. People seem to be very happy with the currently available options, such as Lunsford, Traxxas or those CF ones.

Dafni 03.13.2007 03:19 PM

Okay, now for some pics. I made these during the last big rebuild, when most of the stuff was still new.
Please ignore things like the toe settings and the generall lack of dirt. :)

First some details:

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Phase_2011.jpg
The titanium rods and turnbuckles. When I still had the RD Logics knuckles.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1.../phase6008.jpg
The new RD Racing stuff.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Phase_3006.jpg
The rear sway bar, note the extended plates too. (I had to put some extra stand-offs under them in the meantime)

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1.../phase6009.jpg
The sexy motor mount. Gear mesh is set from below, nitro-style. The whole mount can slide from side to side.

Now some complete shots!

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...phase_4010.jpg
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1.../phase6001.jpg
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1.../phase6007.jpg
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1.../phase6003.jpg
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1.../phase6002.jpg

I will try to shoot some fresh pics too. The slipperential I tested held up fine so far, the diffs too. Along the way I bent two gorilla front skid plates, they are just weak by design. One is bent slightly, the other severe. Let's hope the new ones will be better.

rchippie 03.13.2007 03:33 PM

Dafi your truck looks great .

Serum 03.13.2007 03:47 PM

Yeah, stunning!

Can't wait to test the new slipperential!!

it's a work of art..

It's one TALL MTF daff!

suicideneil 03.13.2007 03:56 PM

So, god does exist. He's just decided to take the form of a custom E-revo.

Wow......

cemetery gates 03.13.2007 04:02 PM

Super AWESOME dafni!

You should sand blast the springs so that they are sliver and dye the rubber boots black!

what is the weight on this beast? Also what esc and lipos are you going to run?(flightpower?)

*EDIT*

I forgot :004: :004: :004: :004: :004:

Dafni 03.13.2007 04:07 PM

It runs on a Lehner 1950/6 or 8, Mamba Max esc, and 2 TrackPower packs. I use the Maxamps 8000 on there too. I have a mount for the Quark too.

I want to keep the springs red and the boots blue, to keep a bit of a revo feeling :)

Dafni do you have good luck with that motor & esc combo ?. I could'nt get the MM & 7XL to work in my buggy.

jnev 03.13.2007 06:15 PM

Oh my.... I think sexy is an under statement. That thing is amazing!!!

So far the MM does a fine job, maybe the cold weather helps. Let's see how it does when it gets warmer around here.

Cool please let me know, & again Your work is in a class of it's own .

Dafni 03.13.2007 06:36 PM

Will do! And thank you!

entjoles 03.13.2007 07:15 PM

omg! where does one go from there? amazing work

cadima 03.13.2007 07:59 PM

Daf, love the sway bars, very trick.
Cheers

squeeforever 03.13.2007 08:03 PM

VERY NICE! The slipperential looks a little on the chucky side to me, but has/will probably be redesigned slightly, correct?

Sylvester 03.13.2007 08:06 PM

DAMN! That looks sexy! Sorta looks like a swedish spaceship!:)

BrianG 03.13.2007 09:39 PM

Damn, that looks nice! Just a "little" cash in that project, eh? ;)

jhautz 03.13.2007 10:12 PM

 Dang DAF!!! You weren't kidding when you said you were doing a redesign. I think the only part still on the truck that was on there the last time you posted pictures were the shocks and the G2R chassis. I thought it would be impossible to out do the last version. Man was I wrong!

Whats the fully loaded race weight? Do you like those extra wide offset wheels like that? I had trouble finding my line out of the corners when I tried wheels that far offset on my Revo. Of course comparing my Revo to that work of art is like comparing stick drawings to a Picasso.

That V2 Slipperential is seriously sexy... But somehow I was rather fond of your old center diff and motor mount.:dft012:

So when you show up to the track to race.... Do they just hand you the trophy and spend the next hour ogling that beast???:027:

EDIT: Boy when you spill the beans, its ALOT of beans!!!!!!!!!:005:

BrianG 03.13.2007 10:17 PM

Lol, the only "Revo" parts on there now looks like the springs and bulks. :)

BP-Revo 03.13.2007 10:41 PM

Nah, he has stock axles too :p

Not really. He has the 8mm axles with stock sliders. :p

MetalMan 03.13.2007 11:26 PM

That sure is one nice Revo... The truggies don't stand a chance :).

BP-Revo 03.13.2007 11:29 PM

I mean sliders...I saw he had the 8mm axle setup (which are awesome).

But yea...that is a awesome looking Revo...

This was one of the first two prototypes. No champhers no nothing, I did the champhers later on myself. You can definitely expect the production series to look better. We weren't fumbling around with the details, as my time in the states was limited, but it worked for testing.

Swedish? :032:

Wasn't cheap, true. Almost every dollar I put in it was earned by RC work, though. Sold stuff, did parts for other people or fixed their trucks.

Thank you! Even parts of the G2R chassis changed: obviously the extended plates, and as I said, I bent two front skids.

Haven't weighted it yet, but it definitely feels just right, not too light and not too heavy. As for the offset wheels, I felt I needed them with a wheelbase like this. To be honest, I never tried non-offset wheels on it. Maybe I should.

Nothing wrong with the direct drive, jhautz. Actually I'd wish we could put the motor back in the center on the slipperential too, but this would not work for long motors on non-extended gorilla chassis'.

LOL, funny thing about showing up at tracks and bashing spots here, either with the G2R or my other BL Revo (stock chassis), the people hardly seem to understand what's so special about them. It's a revo, so what? Ah, a converted one.. why'd you do that? :005: But it's coming, people begin to realize the potential of BL. Those who are into it, know their way around it, but this is still a minority here. Most racers here are into on-road, or 1/10 offroad. Some 1/8 buggy guys too, but not in my part of the country.

Well I hope I get a lot of chances to actually race next season, even if this means I'll have to travel around much. I'll definitely report back.
Racing is 80% driver, 20% car, and a nice ride does not win you any races.
However, I kept my RC18 track routine up over the winter, and I'm confident I can tune a revo suspension by now. Let's see what the season brings!

Thank you guys for all the kind words, you're awesome.
Big shout-outs go to Mike, without him all this would not have been possible!

DAF

jhautz 03.14.2007 03:20 AM

What does that clear shield you have mounted between the x-braces under the motor do? Stone guard for the slipperential gears or something?

Dafni 03.14.2007 03:47 AM

Oh, this is the ESC mount. For the MM.

Since those pics I made a stone guard indeed. All the big holes of the Gorilla chassis plate are covered, only 2 small holes for gear adjustment left.

coolhandcountry 03.14.2007 03:29 PM

That is nice daf.
I kind of like the design of the slipperential.

Mr.lst 03.14.2007 05:06 PM

hmm I might have to sell my whole collection to get something that nice!

celticclown 03.14.2007 05:24 PM

Whats up with the rear swaybar? Does it work well? Where'd you get it from and how much? The rd racing products page is down. Sick ride. Makes me really want to finish mine.

I'm just guessing, but I think that he made it himself along with a host of other parts on his revo.

Bye:027:

Again, sweeeeeeeeeet ride!:004:

coolhandcountry 03.14.2007 07:59 PM

I think it was home grown. :D

Dafni 03.15.2007 03:19 AM

Thank you.

Yes, sway bars are self made. Please read the posts. There's a post with some more info, 3 post before the pics, and you'll see a short list of some of the things that are on there.

I like how the titanium rods and 'buckles look together with the Flextek arms. I should replace the sway bar push rods with titanium too, just for looks.

Daf
