:whip:Is this animal going to be a candidate for a 1/10 slipperential!!

RC-Monster Mike 03.14.2010 04:14 PM

These will be available soon after I return from RCX. I got started on them, but won't finish all the pieces(spur especially) until I return at the end of the month.
I had initially planned Slipperential compatibility, but it would have required custom out drives and a custom front cd bulk, among other things(losi diff is shorter from bearing to bearing, but has very long out drives and smaller diameter shaft ends). If I do one for myself, I will make it available for everyone else. :)

suicideneil 03.14.2010 04:42 PM

Cool, I understand now- quite clever really. I think people's concerns come from convential mounting methods & paranoia really- quite different to the usual 2 screw method that we've all come to know and love on the emaxx and such. Im looking forward to seeing how durable this truck turns out to be in the long-ish run, might be a suitable platfrom for my purpose built basher plans ( next winter project I guess ).

Moller123456 ! 03.15.2010 04:44 PM

ARGH Maannn at the end of this month:( That sucks:( And i just broke my e-revo, so i have no working RC's

ebomb 03.16.2010 12:12 AM

wheres the video, all i have to say is sweet lookin, unenjoyment just doesnt pay enough!!!

BrianG 03.16.2010 12:29 AM

Video will have to wait until the ground un-muddifies. But really, what is the purpose of a video? After all, it's basically like the rest of Mike's conversions. Anyway, I will get a vid at some point. It's just with all the snow melt and rain the last week or so, the ground is a sodden mess. I took my XT8 out last weekend and it got so muddy, that it was easier to simply hose it down than to try to clean it any other way.

bryan 03.16.2010 10:00 PM

:angel:So, would a mmp with a castle cm36 series motor work on this project.Just asking because i have a 9000,and 6900kv staring at me.

BrianG 03.16.2010 10:07 PM

This truck has about the same loading characteristics as an 1/8 scale buggy. So, those Castle motors are much too small. However, the MMPro ESC should be fine if matched with a low kv (~1400kv) buggy-size motor (1512 series Neu or Castle, or Tekin equivalent, or as small as a 60mm Medusa) running on 5s or 6s geared for ~35-40mph.

nitrostarter 03.16.2010 11:00 PM

Definitely skip on the CM36 series motors.

If you're looking for the cheaper route, the Feigao XL motors would work great as well.

Moller123456 ! 03.20.2010 02:44 PM

Does anyone know if the Tent comes with spek V1 og V2?

FG101C 03.20.2010 04:04 PM

uhhhhh......

bryan 03.20.2010 08:06 PM

In a previos post the battery tray described to be 45mm by 168mm.Will a 45mm wide battery fit or will it be too tight.I guess what im asking is that the usable size or the actual dimension?

I had the same problem, but i have chosen to make my own battery tray with carbon fibre:):whip:

BrianG 03.20.2010 08:10 PM

The usable inside tray width is exactly 50mm. I just measured it. Not sure if the production version will be different, but I can't imagine it would be.

BrianG 03.20.2010 08:17 PM

By the way, I was able to squeeze in a pack and half of runtime the other day and everything is holding up fine. Despite a few crashes and cartwheels (those curbs do jump out of nowhere), the single screw motor mount is holding up great. Also, the nylon or Delrin (whatever it is) also held up fine, and I was running on gravel driveway, asphalt street, and gravel ridden lawn (the snowblower does that).

This Tekin combo is sweet. I can definitely feel in improvement in control, primarily at low speeds. Brakes are also smoother. Castle really needs to add a sensor port to their products and some sensored motors to go with them. The MM/MMPro/MMM are smooth, don't get me wrong, but the Tekin sensored setup really redefines smooth.

Thats great! I cant wait to get the kit when it becomes available.I bought a roller off ebay ,ordered motor/esc but they are currently on back order through gp.I already have a nice steering servo, and spektrum reciever. This is gonna be cool. I AM CURRENTLY JEALOUS

Moller123456 ! 03.22.2010 04:24 PM

Argh was told the 1st. february that the conversion should be finished in 2 or 3 weeks thats 8 weeks ago :@
Sorry, but i HATE waiting, and i REALLY hate it when things get delayed -.-
Mike come home and sell the conversion! :P

Anyway, here are the pics of it all complete:

Drove it around in the basement and am pretty impressed. Sensored works wonderfully at low speed, and brakes are smoother. The buggy motor has plenty of power for this vehicle.

Hey, Brian G, Now that you have ran the ten with the 1900kv tekin setup what are your thoughts other than being sensored. Is it too much motor or is it "the sweet set up"?

BrianG 03.22.2010 08:36 PM

I think it's a sweet setup. Gotta figure it's about the same size and weight as an 8th scale buggy with buggy diameter tires, so it only makes sense that a buggy motor would be perfect for it.

Arct1k 03.22.2010 09:44 PM

If I could just get rid of one of my CRT.5's I'd pick one of these up...

nitrostarter 03.22.2010 09:46 PM

Chris, they are picking up these rollers for $100 or less after selling the DX3s and engine and starting system.

Arct1k 03.22.2010 10:00 PM

Its not the $'s... Its I can't have another car in the basement...

6 Crawlers, 3 racers, 3 bashers... is too many already...

I really need to sell a crawler and a crt.5 then I can pick up a 10-T...

gixxer 03.23.2010 02:15 AM

I really like the look of this truck. Really want something to race though. Wonder if this could be made to fit 4wd sct rules. Looks like the lenght is good but its to wide. How wide would this truck be if set up with buggy wheels (they are close to the offset of sct wheels)?

stum 03.23.2010 07:12 AM

Anyone have plans for a ten-t SC truck? This would be the premium SC, nothing would touch it.... This is kinda cool in it's form, but at least for now won't be much fun at the race track as their is no class so you will get stuck going against 1/8 buggies, not that it wouldn't be competative... as I'm sure it would hold it's own just fine. The point being new bumpers and body mounts and a SC lid and tires and she would be the #1 SC truck on the market. Most track will have a 4x4 SC class this year and this will be the most durable and most capable on the 1/8 scale tracks...

E-Revonut 03.23.2010 07:27 AM

Stum- I won't be racing a 4x4 sc this year at CRC most likely and I don't know if your gonna want to bother unless they change their rules. The ten-t would def be out of the question with their current rule. They have he 4x4 SC class listed as a 10.5 motor and 2s lipo max. No way a 10.5 is gonna last long pushing a 4x4 slash or Ofna sc around the track

swiftneed 03.23.2010 10:11 AM

Nice work oh so clean

FG101C 03.23.2010 11:18 AM

It's a little wide and a little short for the current sc bodies. The idea of this truck is to replace 1/10th 2wd gas trucks. Until more are out there there probably won't be a class, Losi is claiming slightly quicker lap times than the buggy though, so

I can actually understand that. Like I said before, it's about the same weight/size as a buggy, but wider like a truggy without a truggy's weight. It does handle very nicely and doesn't traction roll as easily as a buggy. And, being primarily a basher, I have it sitting up a little higher than a racer would with stiffer springs. Diff oils are stock (whatever they are). Also, the wider tires helps to get good take-off traction.

I'm really liking it so far and am thinking about offloading my XT8 truggy because the smaller scale/weight takes much less power so runtime is better. I am going to do more running to see how durable it is first though.

glassdoctor 03.23.2010 11:45 AM

Hey Brian, you should come out to the track Wed night. We are grilling and playing a little too. No races, just practice. Well, maybe some informal racing....

http://www.iowarctracks.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=4431

Beanie 03.23.2010 11:45 AM

Sounds like a serious contender for 1/10 4WD racing!! How do you think it would compare to something like a B44 Brian?

I wish Losi would refresh their 1/10 racing models, but that's another thread!!

Hmm, I might just do that. I've been wanting to informally try it on a track, but after seeing how goopy/muddy it was a week or so ago, have been avoiding it. Time to charge up my 4s packs, and maybe even a 5s pack just to see.

I really have no idea how a B44 handles to compare. Glassdoctor would probably know far better than I since he actually races.

E-Revonut 03.23.2010 12:03 PM

B44 is a midget next to one of these

FG101C 03.23.2010 03:12 PM

The diffs have a really stinky grease that does resemble snot, it was not fun cleaning and filling them with silicone.

The mail lady beebed her horn today and my ten is here. Good thing i was home cause i had to sighn for it. TRACKING IS A BEUTIFUL THING .Still missing alot of pieces to the puzzle:whistle:umm umm.thought it would be cool to take some pix next to my 8ight t 2.0. BEGINNING STAGES OF GETTING OVER JEALOUS.

Moller123456 ! 03.26.2010 07:35 AM

Lets see if mike puts the motor mount for sale tomorrow:D I REALLY hope so:)

bryan 03.28.2010 03:34 PM

So Brian G how is the ten holding up too the brushless power? Diffs etc.

BrianG 03.28.2010 03:42 PM

Still working ok. One of the front tires came unglued, but other than that, no problems yet. Have run 4 packs through it now.

Moller123456 ! 03.28.2010 06:47 PM

Argh cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Haha

RC-Monster Mike 03.29.2010 12:48 PM

soon

The spur is the holdup as mentioned earlier. I will get some white spurs done this week and make the kits available in a few days. I will ultimately be making black spur gears for this truck, but in the interest of the impatient, i can offer the kits with the white spurs very quickly. The motor mounts, battery trays and chassis components are done. :)

Moller123456 ! 03.29.2010 12:52 PM

Sounds good mike:) Even my friends ask all the time" when will your ten-t be ready" hehe
all i need is the motor mount and maybe a spur:) Dont give a Sh** about the color
so PLEASE!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!! ad them to your web page :(
