Here is my lame try at a build thread for the single speed. If that doesn't work it does come with instrctions:

I know 1st gear is stupid in my Maxx and it doesn't even have more torque, I guess its a current draw thing. And I really wanna get rid of the shifting servo!! In the mean time I may just find a way to hold it in 2nd...

I think it's a great walk through thread!

Did you get the UE suspension all in one fell swoop, or did you get the racerX stuff off the bay/forums and then preorder the arms? I almost want some Set Backs but I have no way to link them up. You know what I mean?

BTW this basher of yours is starting to get pretty nasty!! :intello:

suicideneil 04.05.2009 10:56 PM

A cheap trick to lock the tranny into 2nd is to glue or bolt the output to the dog shifter thingy inside the tranny. Easier option is to use a piece of fuel tube over the shifting rod (as it exits the tranny) and put a cross pin though it, to hold the shifting rod in place. Piece of piss as we Brits say.

Makes sense. I thought about doing something kinda like that.

Crazy Europeans(never heard the saying, funny tho)... Ya'll can keep Obama while he is over there too. J/K No place for politics especially on Mark's thread! :rules:

squeeforever 04.06.2009 12:08 AM

I simply JB welded the coupler to the second gear. Worked better and go rid of the slop.

Kcaz25 05.04.2009 12:04 AM

Some new pics would be sweet!

Some pic's or progress would be VERY sweet. It's been about a month ya know.

And this is just one of several threads that have slipped under my radar since "crawler-itus" has ravaged me 24/7 these last several months. I actually got here thru the hyperlink in your sig. while looking at "Gumball Rally" thread.

Have you decided how you are going to run your shocks with the RacerX suspension?

RCShocker 05.14.2009 05:26 PM

Whats the good word on the suspension upgrades Mark?

Kcaz25 05.14.2009 07:10 PM

The word on the street (lol he told me on "that other forum") is that he will be running this weekend!

RCShocker 05.20.2009 05:35 PM

Wait for it......................

Wait for it......................

:grrrrrr: .....

mkrusedc 05.24.2009 09:46 AM

Aghh!!! No CVDs. I bought a full RacerX suspension and it was shipped all nice in little packages. :intello: So I get alittle free time this morning and I break down my truck. I put the Racerx rear setback arms and knuckle together and then the front arms on their knuckles and NO shafts....what a NOOB!!:grrrrrr: These UE pieces are all 2.5 and will not fit anything I have!! So back on with the RPM stuff so I can play this weekend.:whip:

suicideneil 05.26.2009 10:17 AM

Bummer.

mkrusedc 05.26.2009 11:01 AM

I did learn this the UE shock tower body posts sit wider then the FLM. My body stayed on for alot longer.

...or I drove alot better

Kcaz25 05.26.2009 04:01 PM

I feel for you Mark. Looks like you're getting some good advice on the UE forum however.

mkrusedc 06.11.2009 12:02 AM

A short vid of only 3 jumps from last weekend.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IwQn6uXTjo

There was a lot more. Great day until the last one (sorry no vid). My brother-in-law wanted to know, "Whats that big red thing, the battery?" I guess I will be charging in a lipo sack outside from now on. Does anybody have a link for a good sack?

BL_RV0 06.11.2009 09:41 AM

Nice landing on the first one!
Any liposack will do fine, but check out the genuine ones. I'm not sure if Mike sells them, but I know impaktRC does.

nitrostarter 06.11.2009 09:53 AM

I guess I'll have to charge my stuff up and take the 8T out there and jumps those levees properly for ya... LOL

My levee's are steeper but they don't keep the grass cut short so its hard to get speed through 1-2 ft tall grass.

That's what the LST is for.

That was the first jump of the day. The last was the worst. The truck went one way and the battery went the other...:gasp:

Those are in north Metairie. They keep the grass cut but the base is very wide. When I put a ramp on the top I can clear down past the base. The landing can be as high as 36 feet. :intello:

nitrostarter 06.11.2009 11:37 AM

Yep. I've seen those. My levees are in St. James Parish. I must say, they are fun to jump tho. Every Bonfire season, we cut the grass ourselves to make it look good. I do get to jump it then, but the terrain isn't really flat and its sometimes hard to get a good go at it.

mkrusedc 06.14.2009 08:50 PM

Good news. No lipo explosion! The 5s Neu energy took a 56 minute charge without any warmth, puffing or fire!

More good news. A set of UE cvds were shipped Friday. It looks like I will finally get my RacerX arms on!

Good! I know it flew out of the truck but what happened to it? Did it get bent, or something?

Sweet I can't wait to see it RTR!

Did you hear Emaxxter from "that other" forum shattered a Lightning diff in Hybrid bulks? :gasp::oh:

Gee 06.15.2009 02:24 AM

Here's to you not finishing the Neu Maxx anytime soon.

Mark are you ever going to finish your Neu Maxx? It been amost done for a year and a half now.

I just noticed how many views this thread has and the number of pages. It's great to see this thread is still going. I hope you don't finish it anytime soon. It does have me wondering what else you might use over and over, instead of opening a new one. At work and at home....Hmmm Nice Neu Maxx and there still some envy flowing here.

I could not see any external damaged, but it went tumbling 10 feet out of the truck. I broke my lightening diff also.

Thanks for the compliment. I have a brand new BL Revo that I drove, I think, twice just sitting there waiting will I play with the Maxx.

I am off this morning so I thought I have a fully charged battery I will go for one last bash before I put my new UE arms on...two wheel drive... :surprised:

http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL143.../367233353.jpg

More damage from that brutal landing. I broke the out put shaft on my rear diff. The Traxxas 3.3 plastic slider held but the metal 1/8 diff out out shaft snapped!! :gasp:

:gasp::surprised::cry: At least it wasn't internal in your 1/8 diffs! Like have happened to a few people of late. I can't believe people are blowing these things!!

Hurry and overnite ship or similar the output (and maybe a few extras) so that you can bash/post the results and pics here when the UE shafts come in!!:yipi:

Emaxxter got so upset that he sold ALL his Maxx stuff! He's doing Revos and truggies now! Thats just not you! :great: Funny though because the revo has weaker diffs and the truggies have the same diffs!

mkrusedc 07.19.2009 06:39 PM

Well I finaly got some wrench time. On go the UE Racerx arms. :yipi:

Ran it to my first little problem a bent hinge pin and the upper arm will need spacers to fit my FLM hybrid bulks.

http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL143.../369942543.jpg

Kcaz25 07.19.2009 11:10 PM

:whip: Dang I when I saw that the thread had been updated I got all excited. I love this build. Oh well so close...  Can't wait! Can't you just use the little stock caster spacers? When I need spacers sometimes I cut screw holes out of my old plastic parts and cut them down to the desired size and bore the screw hole out some if needed. Just a suggestion.

mkrusedc 07.29.2009 12:42 AM

I finaly got some wrench time for my upgrades. :yipi: RacerX arms and knuckles, 6mm UE cvds and a 3mm HCR titanium skid plate.

I am amazed at how light the arms feel. They feel like plastic. The UE cvds and skid plate are beefy and should hold up well to my beating.

The right cvd is not on because the drive cup is catching on a little burr that I have to smooth off tommorow.

BL_RV0 07.29.2009 01:12 AM

OOOOHHHHH!!! Me likey!

suicideneil 07.29.2009 07:13 PM

Shiney...

mkrusedc 08.02.2009 10:13 PM

Waiting on output shafts. All of the output shaft grub screw holes had deformed. They were oblique instead of round and I could not fit my drive cups. waiting.....

Buzzsaw46 08.03.2009 12:21 AM

Wow, yours has gotten alot nicer over the last year. Kind of funny when you look back at what you started the thread with. Seems like the motor is the one thing that has been in it from the get go.

 My Neus also

mkrusedc 08.16.2009 09:10 PM

Bad news for me I got some wrench time tonight and FLM hybrid bulks and UE RacerX arms don't fit. I am looking at shaving just a hair over 1/16 of an inch at each site where the arm attaches to the bulk for a total of 1/8 of an inch. Has anyone else tried this? What are my options?

Duh never mind. I can shift them back. I will just need to shave a little on the bottom arms.

suicideneil 08.16.2009 10:09 PM

I wouldnt be shy about a little shaving, though I would shave the bulks rather than the suspension, purely since the arms are more beautiful

mkrusedc 08.17.2009 10:42 PM

I actually shaved the arms...:gasp:.

Structurally there is more material on the arms. The FLM hinge pins loops are small in comparison and I know it is not much, but with the way I beat my truck stonger is definately better.

I also have a second set if I want a shelf queen.

dkexige 08.27.2009 02:40 PM

I shaved my arms too. The RacerX arms are about 7.80mm thick where it joins to the bulks. The FLM arms by comparison are only 7.45mm. I didn't have to shave .35mm off the arms though. If I remember correctly, the bulks have a 8.10mm opening at the rear and a 7.80mm at the front. The gap inbetween the arms and the bulks are different though, so, I had to take off about .10mm on the inner side of the front half of the arms.

mkrusedc 10.19.2009 10:06 PM

Sorry bud. I got side track for a month with some other things. I need to find hinge pins that fit. The ones I have are all a little too long. All i have to do is measure and post or search to find them.

Does anyone know off the top of their head? I have FLM hybrid bulks on UE RacerX arms.

Kcaz25 10.19.2009 10:16 PM

honestly I was worried.

I bet lito could help. IDK if he is able at the moment.
