its not hard but i dont feel like doing it. but you dont need 2 gears? Is it fine at staying on 2nd

Dafni 06.29.2005 11:57 AM

Yeah, lock the tranny manually, or get the G-Maxx single speed conversion, or just the G-Maxx coupler.
From now on I will only build single speed BL maxxish-trucks, too. There really is no need for 2 gears.

nbcaznmaster 06.29.2005 12:08 PM

unless you have a contest to see how many flips you can do if you hold your throttle down. lol, i'll do it manually cuz i if i sell the car, i'll sell it with a pair of titans and you'll need 2 speed for that.

RC-Monster Mike 06.29.2005 05:01 PM

Well, I never ran 1st gear with the titans either, but I didn't run the titans for long!

Dafni 06.29.2005 05:10 PM

Especially on 14 cells you get nice torqy take-offs in 2nd with the brushies.

If someone will buy your converted Revo, they will most probably install a BL anyway.
But it might just be that you don't want to sell it at all...;)

nbcaznmaster 06.29.2005 07:00 PM

ya, but theres alot of newbs with their parent's credit cards!! I know tons of people who bought wildemaxx motors or stuff like that isntead of brushlesss.

squeeforever 06.29.2005 09:25 PM

thats what i did at first. i bought trinity monstermaxx motors (17x1 hand wound) with the stock evx. it ran GOOD for 2 minutes. after that i burned them up:M:

Boys, look how this new motor matches my chassis:

The nice color is just an additional bonus, of course. But the power it delivers makes more than up for it's weight. It looks like Business, don't you think?
It gives strong braking, and the runtimes and temps are fantastic.
My Lehner spools up a tad quicker, it's still hard enough.

drop in 16-18 cells, and it will be a blast..

Dafni 07.08.2005 04:55 AM

It's a blast already!
But I have an additional 2-cell pack that I can strap on if I'm in the mood. (or if any other fast trucks are around)
It's already fast enough on 14cells and current gearing, but judging by the temps I could still add a tooth or two on the pinion.

I took the kV rating on the motor, and calculated a gearing for mid/upper 30's. Works fine.

An outstanding feature, compared to my 9L or Lehner XL, are the strong brakes. Really noticeable difference.

I just got 2 5V fans in my mailbox! Will add them tonight, and maybe try 16 cells on the weekend. (I'll have to make sure I'll meet a particular Savage on the parking lot :p this time it's for real!)

RC-Monster Mike 07.08.2005 06:30 AM

You should have very strong brakes with the 9L or Lehner basic xl also. I can flip my trucks forward with the brakes very easily with either of these motors. Yoou should handily beat the savage!

Dafni 07.08.2005 07:00 AM

Yeah, the brakes are pretty strong on the small cans, true, but on the XL it's noticeably stronger. Just wanted to share my observations, didn't want to say the brakes on the other ones would leave something to desire.

Jepp, beating a Nitro MT has never been a problem, but this time it will go down in flames:D

RC-Monster Mike 07.08.2005 07:09 AM

Yeah, a nitro MT is pretty sluggish compared to a brushless mt!
For the brakes - bigger magnet = stronger brakes (xl is a pretty BIG motor).

rchippie 07.08.2005 07:36 AM

Hey daf !!!

I hope your talking about the nitro truck going down in flames not your evo:L:

Dafni 07.08.2005 08:00 AM

Nitro - flames. Sounds related anyway. :L:
In no way my current setup has something to do with hot things :D I like it like this, cool!

Sorry if sometimes I come thru to you not as clear as a native speaker would do. I try my best. Try to keep misunderstandings at a minimum, see.

Yes, Mike. Obviously. Big and heavy. But for me it's just right. The torque makes up for the weight, and I'm not looking for the hardest possible acceleration on a track. But lemme tell ya, it's quick!
