Pretty sure Justpassedu you has the mini STE which would explain the cvd color. The truck does look similar to the .5 with the body on though.

And as far as what to run for shims...I used shims lol. If you have a local RC shop go look at their shim's (not even sure what material most of them are... almost like a teflon/delron flexible plastic material). Usually they come in all different thicknesses and diameters. I just have a TON of rc stuff laying around so I dug though my box o junk and found some that worked.

That...or if you have an O-ring kit or know someone who does. If you can find an o-ring that is small enough to go around the axle and the thickness is not too thick you can run that.

It is a hyper ste , as far as shims i would prob need to put a bunch of them between that gap , theres allot of play , i could prob fit a bearing between there. anypics to help maybe Thanks guys

Yes a bearing would probably work very well. I would check your local hobby store and see if they have something hopefully the same (or darn close) size to the axle diameter, and about 1.5-2mm thick.

The problem is pretty easy to fix on Jamie's end, just drill the axle holes further up the adapter.

Since it looks like the STE has a much larger gap depending on which truck he decides to market the adapters for, he can drill them for one truck and include shims so the opposite truck can run these out of the box as well.

what i have done so far today is add two washers in the front between the gap and there is no play and one in the rear witch still has some play , i will need to add one more in the rear if i can find a few laying around. I also just zip tied around the adapter where the pins go through the axle so they do not fall out. Not sure how this will hold up in the long run but a quick test run and it was running pretty good. The extra ground clearance is great , i just do not want it to break anything when i am out running it. Drilling the pin whole further back is def. a great idea. Do you guys think i will run into any problem's with the way i have went about this? i will try and get some pic's up as soon as i have a chance

Zip ties should be alright but an O-ring would be your best bet. I Have a cheap o-ring kit from ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/GASKET-407-PC-RU...d=p3286.c0.m14 that works very well.

I used a properly sized o-ring to fit around the axle pin to keep it from popping out. The little cir-clip things included with the adapters DO work but they are a serious pain to install. I Find that the o-ring supplies sufficient pressure to keep the pin in and are easy to pop on/off.

The washer should be fine. Just make sure its not TOO tight or you will have driveline drag which will heat up your electronics really quick. Maybe even run to your local hardware store to see if they have what you need.

I too really like the extra ground clearance and the width of the 1/8 buggy tires is about perfect (good traction but easy enough to slide around). Plus the super low profile of 1/8 buggy tires is a tremendous increase in handling. No more sidewall flex!

I found two single small (I mean, tiny) o-rings in my parts box. These were absolutely PERFECTLY sized to take up the slack on the crt.5. The shims are hard to tune the gap.

Hopefully I can find more o-rings like this or find another solution that is readily available that will fill the gap.

Why don't they just make them so there is no slop (at least no slop within the tolerances of the axle crosspin location)?

Well its to be as expected seeing as how these are not the final productions units.

Hopefully he takes our advice and drills the pin hole about .5mm or so back, and includes o-rings instead of those metal snap rings he included.

We shall see!

I got a full 3s pack in today on some partially bald proline badlands 1/8 tires and realized I need to adjust the fluid in the center diff for sure. Probably bump up the f/r by 1k as well. This truck should have come from the factory with 1/8 tires on it!

I look at this pics, and i can't understand why you have this gap between the axle pin and bearing:neutral:
On my crt.5, the axle pin hole is flush to the bearing face.
If i had to mount this adapter on my truck, it would not have any gap between the adapter and bearing:oh:

Maybe all truck is not the same:neutral: But if FLM produce this adapter with the pin hole .5mm or 1mm farther, i'll never be able to mount it on my truck.
