Very Creative, Good Job !

The goal at lunch time today was to get the front ring cleaned up since it still had a lot of center section left. There was no real easy way to do it so out came the dremel with the cut off wheel and a lot of patience.

Here's what I got it trimmed up to. I still need to get it cleaned up but at least I can test it.

So here's the modded Ofna Pirate rim. Outer lip taken off the front and the rear lip completely taken off the back and the front and rear rings from the kong rims.

Here's the slip fit on both sides to see how it goes together. All seems perfect! I'll get the rings epoxied on and should be set.

Now I just need to get the rest all cleaned up and assembled and I think I'll paint them up so they look decent.

Got the front and rear rings cleaned up and epoxied onto the center section. Drilled a hole and installed my blingtastic valve stems from Summit Racing. You can see the bead of the epoxy around the ring.

The tires are MUCH wider looking. Looks more like a monster truck wheel now.

They hold air well but not good enough to hold air over night. Should be fine for testing. Brought the camera and truck with me today so hopefully at lunch time it'll do some floating!

Wow! Really looks good in the water! I see no string attached this time....

How is traction and climbing with the air? It seems like that would be too stiff... I know u can release some pressure as well.

I had the rope on for the first time it went into the water but I seen how stable it was and knew the rope wasn't needed.

As for the tires with the pressure in them. They are horrible on land filled up :lol: Very bouncy and you only have the center of them contacting the ground. I did actually have a problem with them blowing off the bead of the rim. I think the truck is just too fast and weighs to much. Since this wheel combo works so well I'm just going to go ahead and glue the tires to these rims. I actually like the look of these wider tires and wheels. With the tires glued and low pressure in them they should get great traction.

Awesome Dude ! The build is getting better and better .

Got some video together from the last week or so. I got the 2 speed hooked up in the 3905 trans I put in and used the wide range gear set to get some nice gear reduction in 1st gear. It's definitely fun to use and has TONS of power. Last weak link that needs work are the axles....... They just wouldn't put up with any more abuse.

Whats the game plan for the axles ???

I'm still researching and trying to decide what 1/5 scale sized truck I want to build,but I know one of these axles will help determin what I build. Could help you also ?

Those axles you have listed from RC4WD are all way to small. The only one that might work is the Twin Force axle. That will take some punishment. I would have used them on my truck but they are only around 12" hex to hex. The X-factor axles I'm using are 14" hex to hex and the rims are full offset.

Read thru this and have decided that I need something like this!!!!

I have 4 bodies right now, navigator, avalance, hummer h2 and another that I just cannot think of. All are 1/6 scale, and have interiors!

So I ma thinking that I will need to make my own axles... Something sturdy (steel) that can use some existing parts that I have.

I just sold two of the avalanche bodies I had. They look real good on this truck's chassis

Yup that was the one. I had an H3 and Grand Cherokee body too.

Check out this building using one of those avalanche bodies. He actually locked out maxx axles to make them solid axles then 4 linked them to a chassis.
