I think I'll be adding myself into the group of people who are running Neu motors in a few weeks. What I'm looking at is a 1512 2.5D (2000 kv) for 1/8 buggies (Swift and X-Terminator). The batteries are Maxamps 4s 6300mah 15C (should be here tomorrow) through a Mamba Max ESC. But first, I'm curious to hear some more details about anyone using this particular motor in a 1/8 buggy on 4s Lipo.

Well, I have the 1900kv and I think I have said that I would get the 2000kv if I did it over again. I run 4s 6000 lipos.
Not much difference between 1900 and 2000... and I'm happy with what I have. I gear about 14T for racing and it easily handles 18T for street bashing (largest pinion I have) so I think the slightly higher kv would be a good thing. If there was a 2200kv 1512 I would say that would be a great motor for guys wanting fast bashing speeds like 40+ mph most of the time. |
there is a 2200 version... but its a little longer, the 1515 1Y... if i can find one at the chicago show i might pick one up... do you guys know anyone carrying the neu motors that's going to be at the chicago ihobbyexpo show on right now? i saw some pletty there today but no neu's just the ones on the speed boat castle creations had in their booth... i didn't get to see the whole show today, there is a lot to see... hopefully i find some tommorow
what about the 1521... they're even longer... 3.3 inches... anyone thought of those? |

That post was referring to the 1512 not the 1515, sorry...
I would try the 1521 if I ever did a big basher truck, jumbo tires etc... or maybe a high voltage setup for a world's fastest r/c thing. |
1521?

Cool!!
i was checking another link.. Thanks. |
it's nice that they're made in the US..... I haven't tried any of these motors yet.... Maybe next year....
|
I guess we found a potential candidate for the 19 series...
|
so what do you guys think for an e revo... 1515 or 1521... i don't know how to figure out how much current these will draw... i'm thinking of a two 2s lipos setup in series.... that way i could use the single lipo setup in my 1/10
|
I like the 1512 2.5d on 4s lipo. IT does nice.
|
You don't need more than a 1515 for sure.... but I won't stop you from dropping in a 1521. Just let us know how it runs!
The current draw depends on many variables of course.. what I saw with a 1515 in a truggy was spikes of 100-120A and average about 20A. My cars would settle at about 30A once they hit top speed. |
A vid of a 1521 would be nice. I guess that would be close to a lehner 1980. If they made one.
|
Add another one to the list I ordered the Neu 1515 2200kv motor with a mamba max ESC last night for a jammin CRT conversion. :D
