I understand this now, that's a very cool trick. So basicly you are doubling the surface area for the pinion/spur.

EDIT: Just had another thought, what is dual spurs like with acceleration? If there is double the surface area, so double the rotational mass, would it effect it much (no doubt your setup wouldn't have a problem thoguh). I'm thinking of closing a door by pushing near the hinges here - if that makes sense. :)

Yes is double the surface area. It is not accuall double the friction cause each sq mm of space has less force applied to it then. I don't think it should
have a problem. Besides the spurs are plastic. :)
