Clod, all I can say is wow, hard to believe!

I'm just getting mine together so I sure hope a year from now I'm either still head over heels about mine and or prices are even higher for good used equip.

I've been scrounging for a while and so far the only thing used on my Lightning will be the chassis. I've managed to find new Towered VBS, 8 spyders, TI skids, alum bumpers and jounces, new Racer-X suspension, new UE SuperShocks, TI center drives and 8mm cvds. Taken a while, but looks like mine is going to come together. Now with the MM due in Jan or Feb at such a super price, I'll prob wait and go for that.

i still find it hard to believe too - and i dropped the huge box off at the post office this morning, lol.

i definitely loved that truck. it was (and probably will be) the best looking and performing truck i'll ever have owned. but i was waaaay too paranoid about driving it (crashing...heck, even just flipping it) and that's not why i'm in this hobby. i want to beat the tar out of my trucks, and not have to worry about spending a small fortune IF i happen to find replacement parts. and i figured it i did dump it, it would make sense to do so when the market was still good for the product. but it's all good - i swore the only way i'd sell it is if i could get good money for it - and i did.

sounds like your truck is exactly like what mine was - except the only things new that i bought were the 8mm cvds and the SS's. everything else i bought lightly used.

you'll love it. be sure to post pics once you get it together, even if it's sans a motor.

Definitely! I plan on running mine hard. My orig predator is the only one I worry about and take it real easy with since I know I can't get parts for it if I break it, I def know what you're saying.

I came into this type rc just about 2yrs too late, well past its heyday. Story of my life, too little too late, lol!!

Wow Scott, I never thought the day would come...

Might I go ahead and hint at an E-Revo.

you and me both, brotha!

an e-revo is definitely a possibility... i kept my 1940/7, MM, a123 packs and 5955tg servo...they'd fit nicely in that! and about 10 other trucks i have to choose from.... ugh! i want 'em all!

wow, this almost makes me want to build a G2R revo......and sell my UE stuff....

hey clod, just lookin back at the pics, you don't have the nut on that comes with the strobe sprong kit, how tight was your slipper, and how did you do it up tight enough?

also did you use the stock slipper plates with the strobe?

thanks
jordan

ClodMaxx 10.27.2007 11:43 AM

nope - there weren't enough threads exposed to put the nut on. i hand-tightened the sprong, and it went as far as i could tighten it - i had punch control set low on my MM, and if i hit the throttle hard i could tell the strobe was slipping a bit, but i didn't want to take a wrench to the sprong and risk damaging it. it seemed to work ok as it only had a little slip here and there.

the strobe uses special friction pads, so the stock plates aren't used.

i see, ive got the other hi temp pads, does the sprong just go straight onto them?

could you please tell me what order you were running things from the tranny, ie. motor mount, pad, slipper..., but in the right order :mdr:

thanks
jordan

It should be stock slipper plate, slipper disc, pad, slipper, pad, disc, plate, sprong.

I can't find Strobe RC any more, so can't provide a link. This was his instructions for the slipper, just like listed above.

thanks very much, thats a BIG help :mdr:
