well, It had been laying in the den floor for about 6 months and I finally got tired of listening to the wife gripe about it. I just stuck it there to be out of the way until It gets bolted on.

Holy crap batman.

Holy crap Batman. I have seen R/C hobby shops with less R/C's than what you have at your home. Looks like James aka lincpimp's collection. I love it though, because when I show pics like this to my wife she feels so much better looking at our collection. I have 7 trucks of my own, and the kids each have one. That is enough by our standards. You must have over 100 R/C's there, worth what maybe $50K or more? Must be nice to be able to afford that level of playtoys. Good for you man.

The reason for our collection and my goal is for us to have enough R/C vehicles so that one day we can have all the kids (8) and grand kids over for family bash/race sessions once we get moved into our retirement home. Our plan is to build a track on our property where we can enjoy watching everyone having fun. So what is your goal?

junkman 01.27.2011 07:35 PM

I get that a hobbiest showing those pics to their wife and saying "see its not so bad" It didn't happen overnight, been in it for about 20 years. There is a lot of my buddies buyouts, auction lots, swaps and trades there. I do have, or "had" a pretty decent job to fund it, although locked out from it right now, so the past 7 months the 1:1 garage has been seeing a lot more action, working on stuff that is not quite as fun. At last count I had around 250 rtr's, and mostly complete rollers, then a bunch of parts junk. I'd love to open a hobby shop, because I am fairly knowledgeable on the stuff, and pretty enthusiastic about the hobby, a quality it seems most hobby shops lack. It is sort of a dead area we live in r/c wise, so I don't think I could ever make it.

I was gonna say I countes at least 90 RCs in those pictures!

Well, here is my work area....
I'm an RA for the dorms here (get free room and board). This is my little RC corner :D

^ wow, that's pretty amazing. if you're a resident at the dorms in the University of Hawaii you're not allowed to have soldering equipment, or any sort of useful tool or thing that can potentially start a fire. A friend of mine was almost evicted because he had an unlit candle on his desk...

DrKnow65 03.01.2011 10:15 AM

 My work room is so trashed right now I would be humiliated to post up a pic.

I should expose my shame... maybe it would motivate me to tackle the chore.

Yeah, it's pretty relaxed here. Both dorms have a combined capacity of 300. And my school has 2800 total. It also doesn't help that I'm good friends with the director, and that I'm the one that is supposed to enforce the rules around here

I feel your pain. I recently tidied up so I could see the floor... I have about 5 boxes of revo parts littering all of the flat surfaces. I had to put up a folding table so I had room to lay out the project vehicles and parts. And I have 13ft of counter as well... And 2 other tables. It is a mess. My problem is that I get into a project, then find I need parts and order them, but then I start another project...

One for the wall of shame.

JERRY2KONE 03.01.2011 12:13 PM

Wow!!!

WOW that looks like one of those horder intervention pictures where the people just won't throw anything away and they let it take over their entire home. I never leave my shop without making sure that it is cleaned up and ready for me the next time I walk in. Plus I have to set the right example for our kids to follow. Otherwise when I get on them for not cleaning up they would throw it in my face. Yea it can be a PITA but it is better than working in a mess like that one.

brainanator 03.01.2011 12:32 PM

bah, I bet you know where everything is, or at least can find it pretty quickly :p

lincpimp 03.01.2011 01:24 PM

Yeah, the place looks good when it is clean...

I have about 600 sq ft there, and About 1/3 of it is "supposed" to be a sitting area. It is above my office at work, so the wife does not have any say about it. No rc at the house, so she does not really care what I do at work!!!

If I was anywhere near your work room/ashtray I would immediately seize into OCD convulsions and be irrepairably damaged.

My mom made me wash her ashtrays in the dishwater when I was done with the dishes. It scarred me.

looks like a nice set up linc! I'd love to have that drill press, vise, band saw, grinding wheel stuff. Can't wait till I get a workshop! :intello:

HAHA, I used to have the matching loveseat. But I wore it out, hehehe. And if you must know it was with some chics, and not Harold. And they were not trannys, crossdressers or anything else. ANd they were not fat, ugly or otherwise mis-shapen.

I got both as a gift from a freind. His parents got new furniture and all I had to do was pick them up from his house.

Not a bad couch, and the material is all but indestructible. I have fixed a few springs, but that is to be expected when you bang on something...

trev3813 03.01.2011 09:21 PM

Yep. we have both, actually the one couch is a pull out, and the other is a love seat. lol

trev3813 03.01.2011 09:47 PM

brainanator 03.01.2011 10:51 PM

Yeah, only left it in once, and now I have a little girl to deal with for the next 20yrs or so...

Yep, she is here, was waiting to get some of the decent pics back from the photographer and was going to post up a thread. She is healthy and has really well developed lungs... My dog and I have been trying to figure out a way to go deaf... Luckily the wife is good with her. I will do bottle feedings and change diapers, but leave the other stuff to her.

F#@!ing awesome James, congratulations:party: I've had a few life changing experiences, having kids is by far the most meaningful and rewarding.

I have no doubts you'll be a great father, you gots the smarts.

Tell the wifey someone that never met her wishes her and the baby well:yes:

Pics or it didn't happen!!

JERRY2KONE 03.02.2011 04:37 AM

Messy

WOW James that is much improved from the last time you shared pics of your R/C work area. Nice setup. Good to see that you have become more organized.

Congrats on the little one. She doesn't look like Harold does she?

emaxxracer15 03.03.2011 08:10 PM

Here is my setup. Just a nook in my room, converted to RC workspace. Both shelves and the desk were built by me.

JERRY2KONE 03.04.2011 04:00 PM

Time for change.

Well I guess it is time for change. I really enjoyed having the shop that I did while we were posted in Seoul, Korea, and I will miss it very much. It is cool that the old pics are still here somewhere (around pg 9) for me to come back and look at from time to time. Now that we have moved to Prague in the Czech Republic I have to start over again. We will be here for two to three years and luckily we have a two car garage in our new temporary home. Our support services are placing a desk in the garage for me on Monday so I have something to get me going. I won't have my R/C stuff for a couple of months, so it will be more like May when I get the shop set back up again. I will post up some new pics once our stuff arrives.

trev3813 03.07.2011 07:30 AM

Everything needed

Hey Harold it looks like you have everything that a man would need in life:diablo:. Unlimited R/C play toys, stereo, and TV:yes:. What else is there?:intello: Eat, sleep, and play. Life in the fast lane.

Ola 04.14.2011 08:11 AM

Man you guys keep alot of cars/parts! :D
I`ve recently got back into the hobby (just before cristmas), after a few years off.. For now i try to keep a 2 car rule to keep everything under control, but as we all know this tend to be stretched after a while.

This are pics from my man cave. Its a isolated room in my garage, approx 3x3,5m, with heating, internet etc.
It just after a serious tidy job, and before i got alot more spare parts/toys like i do now, but you get the pic. The 2 tables will be changed for a long work bench real soon..

wow...some of these work spaces are off the hook. i think if i had a basement or man cave like some of you have i'd never see my wife and i'm already in a shit load of trouble for racing as much as i have this year.:lol:

rootar 04.14.2011 11:05 AM

I have found that since i have finished my trailer i stay on task better when i go out there to work on stuff. When im in the house i get to relax and not piddle with all my projects that used to be all over the house. now its all out in my trailer so when i go out there i get to work and when i come back in the house i usually just go to sleep.... lol.

My GF gets alot of quiet time to herself now too. She doesnt have to listen to my dremel or drill and doesnt have to smell the varitety of wonderful smells (tire glue, rubber, simple green, parts cleaner, degreaser, shock oil, etc..)

aqwut 04.15.2011 08:37 PM
