I I burned(blew) out a MGM and the problem was of programming, nevertheless it roasted at once

I think I will have to put it to the test with my Plettenberg Big Maxximum.

suicideneil 08.11.2008 05:58 PM

Something to do with the fact that they have a flat repair fee, and dishonest people may later send in their discounted V1 to be replaced with a V2 ESC for cheap. Still, I think they could mark such ESCs somehow so V1's could be differentiated from V2's - maybe some etching on the PCB itself.

Don't buy it as they could do something very simple - like trim 1 corner fin by 2mm...

It seems such a shame to get rid of all that hardware when only part of it is bad. Many electronically-inclined individuals would be more than happy to do a little modding to get the broken ones to work. In my case, it's not about saving money, it's more about reducing waste.

I am with you on that. No reason a distinguishing mark or other couldn't be used to identify the V1 failures.

Your right, they are still good ESC's and I would have no problem owning one.

Its an awful waste of resource, not to mention that it can be recycled. I mean if their concern is false claim of warranty, removing BEC parts would be a distinguishing mark. I would mine owning 1 of the working V1's as well...

without that extra heatsinking it might require a fan! :O

Nice ride...good to hear about your V2....

Maybe you can make a new thread and post some vids.....

FG101C 08.11.2008 09:17 PM

What version of Castle Link do we use for the V2? Because 3.10 does not see the ESC.

phatmonk 08.11.2008 09:29 PM

Castlelink V3.051 with Windows XP

FG101C 08.11.2008 09:35 PM

Ok, 3.051 just won't let you update the firmware but I'm sure that does'nt need to be done anyway yet.

TruckBasher 08.11.2008 09:38 PM

IIRC there was someone who spoke to CC that the V2 have a newer firmware that they havent released yet on the CC link. So you're right not needed now :)

jayjay283 08.11.2008 09:48 PM

3.051 and 3.10 work fine with V2, Im using 3.10 on XP and Vista, its same as 3.051 think its only different for a plane or boat, just window pops up, "cannot update firmware on this controller" which castle said was MMMv2 has higher firmware then 3.10 for the fan and will be on next firmware update

MTBikerTim 08.11.2008 10:11 PM

I still haven't received an e-mail saying that my MMMv2 has been shipped.

The sidewinder and 4600 that I ordered months ago from a retailer and was supposedly shipped over a month ago by express post still hasn't turned up either .

I can't stand all this waiting but while I am having a whinge I would also like to abuse summer for taking so bloody long to get here. I can't drive my cars in the dark you know :diablo:.

commando 08.11.2008 10:49 PM

Where abouts did you buy that sidewinder combo from? :)

I'd rather not mention at least until I get it . It wasn't from mike though.

I'm hoping to receive mine next week since it takes 6-9 days for packages to egt to Japan through the military postal system. I received the email and tracking number yesterday though Joe Ford told me about this last Thursday. CC is also sending some banners we can put up on our home-made track inside the military base.

You want summer to get here? where in oz are you? I hate running my electrics in our 40C summers, much prefer the 10C of winter - just seems like the cool is nicer on the electronics :P

And I think theres something whacky going on with the post, I'm suddenly receiving a bunch of parcels I was worried about and have been waiting over a month for. If you have express dont you get a tracking number?

You would think so BUT THEY NEVER GAVE IT TO ME. Personally I don't think they have sent it yet or at least didn't send it when they said they did. I have dealt with the retailer multiple times before and I have no doubt I will get the sidewinder it just takes time.

It's freezing here. I'm in the ACT and it's way too cold. Summer isn't a problem for me I love the heat but keeping the electrics cool when the tar they are running on is +50c (122f) is a bit of a challenge. You chew up tires really quick on hot tar too. My main complaint about winter is that it is dark by the time I get home. I have been getting up earlier in the morning so I can take the dog for a walk in the morning when there is some daylight. I also work in an office with no natural light so daylight is precious. Plus riding to and from work in the cold and dark isn't as much fun as it sounds either.

J3110 08.14.2008 07:39 PM

Oh yeah, baby! Got my incoming delivery from CC email. :rules::yipi:
edit: oh, I mean, billing info rec'd by UPS email. Still stoaked, though. :D

E-Revolution 08.17.2008 06:49 AM

Any information when those controllers are available ? Looks like many of rc-monster members have MMM controllers allready in here rc-monster forums...

DickyT 08.17.2008 12:39 PM

My v2 is going on hour 7 of use now. It has never got warm enough to get the fan going. 121 esc, motor 150, batteries 105, air temp 93 are the hottest i have seen. converted revo, 17/38 pinion/spur, wide ratio tranny.

RBMike 08.17.2008 08:04 PM

I put an hour of total track time on my v2 today with 5S in a buggy & it ran perfect but the fan did stop (I think). I have not checked it out yet.

DRIFT_BUGGY 08.17.2008 08:07 PM

Anyone know how many V1's are still out there?

My buddy runs one in his e-maxx and has since I had mine that failed.

brushlessboy16 08.17.2008 08:29 PM

Just ordered my MMM from BPP, for less then 150 shipped, on the new firmware will we be able to change the temp that the fan comes on?

gogglespaesano 08.17.2008 09:18 PM

I'm still running a V1 without any problems. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Sammus 08.17.2008 10:05 PM

BPP put their prices up, esc from 170 (i think) to 180, combo price from 270 up to 308 :( damnit why did I keep putting off that backorder...

DRIFT_BUGGY 08.18.2008 01:24 AM

What firmware did the V1 come out with? I still haven't updated my V1, only just changed the settings

im still using a v1 on 4s

lincpimp 08.18.2008 02:18 AM

My V1 has a few hours on it with 4s lipo and a 1515 1.5d, and no issues so far.

I did clearance the bottom of the case so that the fan plug did not rest on it. I also enlarged the opening that the signal and switch wires exit thru. And I added some high density foam underneath the main pcb to support it. That way the board could not knock against the bottom cover during a hard landing. My fan still works too.
