We knew they would not last very long, and the next batch will probably go quickly as well, because the word will be out about how well they work on all of our different setups. Nice going MonsterMike. Thank you for finally getting to this project for us.

Notice it didnt sell must be overpriced!!!. I will find one someday @ a price I want too pay. The same thing happened to me as far as the shipping I filed a complaint with usps to find out what hecks going on never had an issue with usps til now Maybe its the wheather. I didnt pay priority mail prices to get first class shipping. I asked for a partial refund for my shipping.

feistyacorn 02.14.2010 11:28 AM

That is indeed strange with the slow USPS shipping. Mine has been in NJ for the last 3 days! Rivermaxx - I bet USPS will say some BS about Valentines day stuff in the mail system slowing shipping down.

I will also be mounting one in my gorillamaxx (G3R). I sent a PM to Mike with some questions about it and it looks like us revo users will need a different front bulk. Not sure if mine shipped with it. Still waiting for a response...

Finnster 02.15.2010 01:11 PM

Looks like a nice mount. Got some questions tho for Mike:

*What is the Max spur size? Looks like Chris posted a 48T is the limit.
*Is there a way to fit a bigger spur, say the 52T for the Slipperential?
*Will the mount accomodate M4 screws for a 1521?

Basically I would like to run one of these in my savage, but w/o a tranny, gearing gets very tricky. To maintain my current gear ratio, I would have to switch to the HPI bulletproof diffs (29/9) from the Cens (26/9), use the 52T spur of the slipdiff, and then still use a 10T pinion on the motor.
Even that is about 10% higher than my current GR.

I would use a FLM savage skid plate and braces to mount the diff. I can work out cutting a hole for the spur on bottom, but not sure what to do w/ the top brace.

Thanks

Finnster 02.15.2010 01:31 PM

Slipperential into FLUX

IOW: If I have my #'s right, the stock FDR of the Flux is 16.1. There is no way to get to this with the bulletproof diffs and use the 46T slipperential. The other option is the 52T, and even then a v. small pinion is required.

I have a thought where this could be integrated into an FLM Flux (X or XL) TVP, where you could use a TVP crossbrace for one of the diff mounts, and just have long M4 screws coming across and mounting sideways into the motor mount side of the diff mount (or make some other part to make it fancier, but less universal.) This could then get mounted onto the FLM skid plate as well to make one full integrated unit.

I'm sure there are a good number of Savage/Flux owners who would like to get a CD into the truck. Just a couple of things need sorted out first.

It could really help differentiate the FLM TVPs for Flux versus the large number of other aftermarket TVPs for Flux also.

Finn- it is intended for m3 screws, nothing a little dremeling won't take care of. It'll fit 52t spurs, but as you mentioned there would need to be spur clearance cut beneath it or it would have to be spaced up.

Everybody- stock is gone:party: I'm glad Mike moved them and we weren't lying to him when we told him they'd sell. Viva la Monster!:yipi:

Will it fit under the top brace tho? Not so worried about the bottom as it can be managed. That will be the show stopper. If Mike knows, what is the max spur size possible under the top brace?

If everything fits under, even just a set of Savage crossbraces would be all that's needed to mount this inside the TVPs.

I know its for M3, but what concerns me is the holes and recesses cut for the M3s, and may not be big enuf for M4s. At worst I suppose you have extra long M4 screws (and washers if needed) and go all the way to the inside of the mount. I had to dremmel my Kershaw Designs mount to get the M4s thru. It can be done, but its a pita and, like you, hope not not have to hack up such a nice RCM piece.

_paralyzed_ 02.15.2010 05:07 PM

52t will fit the top, it did in my old one and the new one has even more clearance.

You're kind of stuck on the m3 hardware. Perhaps an adapter plate? I'd like to see this issue resolved too as I am going to use a 1521 in my LST with this mount. I'm glad you brought it up:yes:

Sweetness. I can make the M4 hardware work. The clearance on the spurs had me worried from what was said, and there isn't any specs listed.

Can someone measure the distance from F and R braces when they get a chance please? IE, what is the distance the drill holes need to be? Or just attach a PDF of the drill template.

I'll have to get a little fund going to get one of these as the weather gets warmer.

Mikak 02.17.2010 06:30 PM

has anyone mounted one to a truck ? if you have post pics please. im trying to figure out how to mount them to a G3.

feistyacorn 02.17.2010 06:39 PM

I just got mine last night and I will post pics once I figure out what to do. Has anyone found out what we are going to do for drive shafts? I contacted Mike but haven't heard anything for a week now. I don't think he likes me. Where did he disappear to?

suicideneil 02.17.2010 07:23 PM

Dont forget, there are a few talented guys on this forum who can help with additional mounting parts ( bottom plate ) if Mike is busy- MetalMan is one such guy

_paralyzed_ 02.17.2010 08:04 PM

Bad news finn, 52 is two too many. It just hits the top mount and dremeling enough to make it work will get into the threads of the mount. I'm going to dremel it anyway and use as long of a screw as possible and hope to span past the affected area. I'll post results.

Oh, btw, I got my two in!

I think we are going to have to make a small lower skid that screws to the bottom of the chassis with the existing counter sunk screws. The hole in the bottom of the g3 doesnt help much for mounting the cd mount.

RC-Monster Mike 02.17.2010 10:02 PM

I am pretty sure I made a G3 skid for someone previously. Surely I could do it again. I will make a batch of skids for the FLM emaxx as well in the coming days to help anyone needing this piece for an easier go of the installation.

JERRY2KONE 02.17.2010 10:09 PM

Thanks mike

Thanks Mike for the assistance with the skid. I am sure that most of us could figure something out to overcome the issue, but it would be much easier if something came pre-made for their specific installation. I have an FLM Maxx, and a UE Lightning that I plan on mounting my CD mounts on, which are both pretty much the same animal. Please let us know when these plates are ready and how we can acquire them. Have a great day Sir.

By any chance do you have any pics of the g3 skid setup? I and many other are wondering if you still make custom length driveshafts also. rcalloy's is no longer making them. They waer a good supplier of custom length shaft for all of us . I dont know what we are going to do now.

That sounds great Mike :party::party:. How much would it cost for just the skids?

JoFreak has one installed in his G3... see the pic and link below..

Need help with my G3-build

Rivermaxx 02.17.2010 10:40 PM

I personally want my mount lower and way forward on that chassis.Might have to do a little trimming on the rear plate and make a center skid but its doable.

George16 02.17.2010 11:23 PM

I received mine yesterday and will be mocking it to my gmaxx chassis and try to make a skid. If I'm not satisfied with it, I'll buy a new skid from Mike.

Ah dammity damn. :(

Any way these can be modded in the next rev to fit the 52t?

RC-Monster Mike 02.17.2010 11:41 PM

I can make custom length aluminum drive shafts - will have to get a system in place here for efficiency, though.

George16 02.17.2010 11:55 PM

I was thinking about making another Gmaxx chassis plate much like the one I made before without the tranny cutout so I can have a spot to mount the CD mount without the need for custom made shafts. I'll make a cardboard cutout once I get home from work(it's 1:00 in the afternoon here in Japan) and post some pics about this idea of mine. The aluminum plate will be 3mm thick (aircraft grade 6061T6 aluminum) and I think it will be robust enough to hold the cd in place.

JERRY2KONE 02.18.2010 01:20 AM

We need it.

With RCalloys gone we could really use the help Mike. Granted the need for custom drive shafts is not one of those gold rush factors in R/C, but with the type of builds that allot of us do with these vehicles we would be lost without a solid supplier of good quality shafts to depend on. Plus most of what any of us can find in stock or aftermarket replacements is hardly durable. Having a solid set of driveshafts can elliminate the worries of having a weak spot in our drivetrain that can result in set after set of replacement shafts. Thanks for the offer to fill the gap MM.

Will aluminum be strong enough? I wonder if 7075 would work best because its harder stronger material.

I am thinking the same thing but with 3mm carbon fiber plate.

George16 02.18.2010 09:20 AM

Beau, I just did the mockup and in order to mount the CD into the gmaxx skid/chassis itself, I need the cd mount to have an additional 14mm in height. I'm still going to make my chassis plate but with another skidplate to mount the cd in place.

It will be heavier but it's okay since the powerplant can take care of it anyway. I want it to be a little bit heavier so I can do higher speeds.

That would be awesome Mike! I think that I found a way to mount the CD using the stock bottom plate. It only requires a little chainsaw action on the servo plate. Should be all good once I get the Slipperential and driveshafts.

Finnster 02.18.2010 12:38 PM

FWIW, Cen makes sliders for the giant GST that have steel ball joint ends which fit 8mm pinions.

These may be a flexible solution until the custom dogbone issue gets resolved.
