Thanks! That's actually the video I was thinking of, but couldn't remember where I saw it. But alas, my program (Animation Shop) won't let me convert it to a GIF (even though it has the ability). I wonder if it is a compressed AVI or something?

Hey Serum, do you have an uncompressed version or something? TIA!

pinolelst 01.18.2007 12:32 AM

Ulead gif animator opened and converted the file just fine...4mb before optimizing though and about 2.5 after with decent quality maintained.
If for some reason you still can't use whatever Serum sends you and if Serum is OK with it I can send you either version

pinolelst

BrianG 01.18.2007 03:07 AM

Yeah, I just downloaded a trial of Ulead and got it down to about 300k with decent quality. Now I just have to make sure it's OK with Serum before I add it! :)

jollyjumper 01.18.2007 04:38 AM

what is the effictive speed rate?

Serum 01.18.2007 04:42 AM

Brian; What are you thinking about? I don't have got the original movies.. Lost in a crash..

Serum 01.18.2007 04:43 AM

what do you mean with 'effective speed-rate'?

jollyjumper 01.18.2007 10:06 AM

if you calculate your speed, on the bottom off the thingy it says:
effective speed rate: 1.67 mph/V ?!?
edit: nevermind i already know:D

BrianG 01.18.2007 11:01 AM

Serum: This is what I am talking about...

I converted it to an animated gif and just wanted to know if I could add it to the "help box"...

Oh, and the effective speed thing is how much speed you get per volt. It simply lets you guess-timate your speed if you simply add another volt of battery power or so to get your speed so you don't have to re-key all the values. I'm surprised it took this long for someone to say something since it's been there for at least a month.

Hint; if you click the little questionmark next to the field title, it'll tell you what it's for. ;)

Serum 01.18.2007 11:09 AM

Do you want to use the link or the GIF you made? Either is fine by me (ofcourse)

jollyjumper 01.18.2007 11:10 AM

yes, i already knew because of clicking the question mark.:D:005:

The GIF. I cropped out the excess area and compressed it a bit down to 300k. I will of course give you the credits. But, how do you want the credit to appear? As MR Myrmecophagidae, anteater, or Serum? :)

jollyjumper 01.18.2007 12:24 PM

hahaha, i'm still not over it MR Myrmecophagidae :D:D

Serum 01.18.2007 01:39 PM

You are funny Brain...

lol. Well, at the bottom of your sig it says: "From now on, it's MR Myrmecophagidae". :027:

10 times?! I can't even say it fast one time in a row!

And "Mr. Socks" does have a nice ring to it...

It does doesn't it! I can't pronounce it either. I looked it up in the dictionary, but trying to even get it right once is hard without looking at the description from there!

Serum 01.18.2007 02:31 PM

Okay, make it mr socks then.. as long as the O isn't replaced with a U...

Now Serum, you know better than to give the ideas out like that!:005:

Well, we'll try, but I can't make any promises. :p :005:

Although, it might seem odd to those who don't know who "Mr. Socks" is. All they'll see is a mini-movie of a tire ballooning with credits to Mr. Socks. They might think it's like a Mr. Hat thing (from SouthPark).

jollyjumper 01.18.2007 02:35 PM

you guys are killing me here :D:005::D

BrianG 01.18.2007 02:36 PM

Yet another thread bites the dust...

Either that, or they way some type around here....we'll have to keep nbz off that one!

BrianG 01.18.2007 09:23 PM

Poor nbcaz. Speaking of the devil, where's he been lately?

I added Mr. Socks' ballooning animation to the calculation thingy.

coolhandcountry 01.18.2007 09:35 PM

nbc said he hasn't touched rc in a month. So Not sure what he been up to.
He says all is broke. He be back.

Mike.L 01.18.2007 09:36 PM

LOL!

VERY nice addition, im sure "serum" will love it! :)

neweuser 01.19.2007 10:15 AM

RC is an addiction, he be back no matter what! Nice site Brian, it's a blessing that you have done this for us!

BrianG 01.23.2007 02:07 AM

Another update; Added a feature to the "Top Speed" page where you can press a button to open a text version of all the values in the form. Then, you can copy/paste it in a forum post.

Just go to the "Top Speed Estimator" page, enter your values, calculate the results, and then press the "Export Text" button to open a help window with the forum values in it. Pretty simple.

I may add it to the other calculator pages if people seem to like it.

BrianG 01.24.2007 12:30 AM

Removed the new feature due to Mozilla browser not following the W3C rules. :mad:1

Edit: Nevermind. I got it to work except in Opera...

abiye 01.29.2007 01:48 PM

how about adding the plettenbergs to the motor list... Maxximum, Maxximum w/fan, BigMaxximum w/fan, Shadow, Extreme, Bolido,

BrianG 01.29.2007 03:31 PM

I would... if Mike carried them. Since this is his forum, I try to stick with products he carries...

coolhandcountry 01.29.2007 04:50 PM

I am pretty sure mike can get the pletts. He just don't carry them for low demand.

BrianG 01.29.2007 11:10 PM

Well, if you say it's ok, it must be since you're a mod. :)

OK, so, what motors do you want on there? I'll enter them, you just have to do the research. ;)

I'll need the following:
  • Motor name/model
  • kv
  • max efficient rpm recommended by the manufacturer
  • quality rating. This is a three point system; "good" (Feigao/Wanderer), "better" (Mamba motors, LMT Basic series, etc), "best" (LMT, Neu).
  • The can size; 380, 540, etc
  • motor length
  • motor diameter
  • weight
  • flange diameter if any. (the raised area around the shaft)
  • shaft length
  • shaft diameter

The first 3 are mandatory and are needed for all motor calculator pages. The next 2 are for the motor selector page - if there are no values, that motor won't ever be offered as a choice. The last 6 are simply for informational purposes for the "Misc data" page.

coolhandcountry 01.30.2007 08:30 AM

Do you need kv under load correct?

BTW I didn't see a 17turn lehner on there. :)

BrianG 01.30.2007 11:16 AM

Yes, preferably under load if available.

At the time the original motor list was created, I stuck to items Mike carries in stock since those seem to be the more common ones. Even then, the list seems a bit long. It has grown to the point now that I don't think it'll matter if I add two or two dozen. :)

BrianG 02.03.2007 06:24 PM

Just added a diagram to the Lipo Wiring page (scroll to the bottom) which shows how to wire up balancer Y adaptors when using two seperate packs. Currently, there are only entries for Hyperion balancer connectors, but if someone wants the wiring scheme of other types of connectors, let me know...

Sylvester 02.03.2007 06:26 PM

Nice addition Brian! This will help many since there arent any clear diagrams on how to wire the balancers up! Thanks!

No problem! :) I too noticed there were not too many diagrams and saw that question asked several times.
