I think i will need to sell 2 of my Turnigy 5200 30c 2s harcases and get some matched 3s and 2s packs for 6s and 5s running. Anyone interested or want to trade?
|
While getting the truck prepped up for a bash session at the track tonight, I noticed the damn motor slide forward AGAIN!!! I never had this issue on my first Flux, never! I cranked those farking motor clamp bolts helluva hard with red loctite the first time this happened! Well, enough of this, I'm zip tying the damn thing in place, lets see it try and slide forward now!
And man, I can't believe how quickly my stock pinion gear has been eaten away so far after just a few runs. Looks like another order to RCM soon http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...e2/ziphold.jpg |
I've decided im gonna go back to the XL conversion but reduce my pinion to 18t to gain back some torque to help me wheelie and hopefully let me control the truck in the air a bit easier. It should help reduce my temps as well. Now that i've got perspective of the truck on how it performs and handles in both stock and XL platforms, I have a better idea of what I need to change on it to get it to perform how I like. After replacing/upgrading the pinion, im gonna upgrade to 6s power as I think I will really enjoy it with the XL conversion as well as NEED the XL stability to maintain control of the truck with 22.2v of power vs on the stock chassis layout. I think wheelies and backflips will be no problem with 6s lipos churning those big wheels, but, only one way to find out!!!
Looks like its gonna be another late night tear down and cleanup.....I hate driving in wet weather, I really need to stop, the cleanup doesn't make it worthwhile. |
Good choice! It will be a blast! trust me.
|
i cant wait to see it on 6s. its funny how HPI tells people to run a 25t pinion on 6s when in fact everyone seems to gear down...

Freeze glad to hear your getting out all the kinks, 6s should be interesting, I want a vid of that. As your tire explodes of the wheel... I hear you only like running the truck in warm dry weather ah? Cleaning is not your trade ah? Nonsense, get your ass out in that mud and throw up some roosts. 6s and mud, now that makes me happy just thinking about it. Yummy mud!

I'm still cleaning my damn truck of from yesterday, so screw that crap. You go ahead, i'll watch |
Ehh, all you need is an air compressor and possible some Simple Green in a spray bottle. If not, take out electronics, hose down, air dry or air compress. Unless your going through and cleaning everything back to a stock shine, than I have nothing to say.

Freeze there are models that don't get dirty and need as much attention and detail as these. They don't come with motors or anything but they can bring joy to someone like yourself.
Or maybe you should look into carpet racing, then again the fibers might cause an irritation because they can be seen as something dirty. A Savage Flux that is never to get truly bashed, that is the only thing I disagree with this build. Otherwise pretty bad ass. |
Hey Freeze, Build Looks Great!
If you dont mind can you tell me what the Wheelbase is with Stock Flux TVP and Also with The FLM XL TVP? Thank You Sir. |
Just a thought on your motor sliding. Take a piece of scotch brite or sandpaper and scuff up the inside of the motor mount. Personally, I'd do the motor too - but I doubt you'd like the looks of it.

You can find the information at HPI's website. Or heck Tower has most of the info too.

The back drop of Picture number 1 is beautiful, no mountains in Fl.
|
If you think those are mountains, come to Colorado!
|
LOL I thought the same and I am from Cali! But Freeze the first shot looks Sick as well as the body.
But does that body rub the tire when turned and shocks compressed? Pic 2 looks close... |
My new Desktop!

in pic 3 you can see the gorilla tape doing its job, with the downfall of balooning sidewalls (you can see the profile of the tire is actually a "U" shape) and lack of in-air control
|
Reno, I can make a bigger size of that pic if you want, LMK

Um... you realize of course that Missoula in western Montana is in the same mountain range, the ROCKIES, that cut through western/central Colorado?! That "mountain" is nothing but a shot of the foothills.

I really wanna get a high speed camera, im getting so envious of other slow mo rc vids on youtube.
|
True dat just being a dinky foothill. MT doesn't have any fourteeners tho. Actually not even any 13ers.
The rockies thru MT are awesome, as are CO. I was always impressed w/ the MT rockies in how raw they are vs the more eroded CO mtns. The diversity of the mtns in CO is awesome. Being able to get to the top of a 14er and look down on the plains 9000 feet below is amazing. Being able to drive down and stop a world class microbrew on the way home makes it even better. :) G/l on the new pinion. Taping looks like its working well |

I was merely commenting on the mountain in the picture. And as far as Co mountains being better, have you ever skied here? Some of the best in the US, and north america.
|
I've skied in Idaho (Kelly Canyon, Pebble Creek, Sun Valley), Montana (Big Sky, Bridger Bowl), Colorado (Breckenridge, Beaver Creek, Keystone, Vail, Telluride, Durango), Utah (Alta, Park City, Snowbird), Wyoming (Grand Targhee, Jackson Hole), California (Kirkwood, Northstar, Heavenly, Sqaw Valley), Oregon (Mt. Hood), New Mexico (Angelfire), BC (Whistler), and Alberta (Lake Louise). Not to mention Wisconsin (Cascade, Devils Head) and Michigan (Boyne)... hahaha.
Thats just the big names, or personal local favorites although I do really like Targhee/Jackson Hole, and the Tahoe region. But in general, I wouldn't say one is better than the other either... most offer something unique or different, and frankly its skiing so as long as they got some fresh powder who cares!??! :) Quote:

:lol:I agree with your last statement 100%! Also depends on your abilities. Steamboat, Vail, Aspen, and Winter park are all excellent. very off topic!
