I will keep the forum informed how long does it take to receive a ! repaired ! ESC back. (Again: this ESC is brandnew ! - I payed over 300 $ for the unusable set) My understanding of customer service would be that your company would send out the ESC while the defective one is on the way to your address. I gave you my cc details - so the risk is only on my site.

I regret buying this combo at all. If Castle builds a 1700 motor I will sell the combo immediately for half the price.

Yes,that would be usefull to know,it might be a quick easy fix, would save both the customer and Tekin time, and more importantly these days, money, obviously,if it needs new components, then it would have to be sent back, but if its just a case of a bit or re-soldering,most of us i suspect could handle that,Tekin will sort these issues, that i am sure of.

There are a few areas that we've seen cause failures. We are considering all possible options for repair along with sending out a new board as an option. The problem stems from really needing to see the unit in hand to verify operation of both board assemblies. ON the rare occasion both can be bad, one causing the other to fail. While this is rare it would be quite dissapointing for the consumer to be sent a new board only to find out that his unit is still non functional after the repair.

The most common part to have a cold solder joint is the large black piece suspended from the lower boards. It has two joints that attach it to the board and must make contact. While flowing them again isn't overly difficult it still might not be the only issue.

A broken unit is a lose lose for both sides. However we're obligated to make it right and we're doing our best to turn the service items around as quick as physically possible. We have people working on the weekends and at night to make this right for the customers experiencing the problem.

That alone shows that Tekin is not some Mickey Mouse Corporation.

I agree this isnt a perfect solution,Ty is sending me a new v2 rotor and new board for the Rx8,but if this does,nt work i will have to send it back to yourselves for repair, what it does tell me is that Tekin will always try to help as much as possible, with their helpful and flexible approach,i don't think there are many companys out there that would send foc replacements out, without fisrt receiving the faulty goods back,so well done Tekin, this is just one of the reasons i will be staying with my Rx8/T8 combo, because service like that, these days,is bloody rare.

Damage report from todays race:

1x dead ESC - something separated inside even though the ESC had shock proof mount. this can happen as the driver just did not jump well today

1x separated front spacer along with couple pieces of the rotor from the new style rotor in T8 - this is getting annoying. more and more tekin owners are planning to switch to Neu

glad it was not in my truck

Oh no, this is really bad news ... now I am waiting for my repaired ESC and then I will wait for a new motor .... shit !

wallot 09.20.2009 12:01 PM

Dead ESC was clearly because of the abuse, however something can be probably done to make the ESC shock proof

However I dont like the way T8 motors are made. ton of small metal plates pressed together.
Is not there a better way to design the rotor?

No idea how Neu motors are made, but i never seen a Neu motor fail in Czech Republic.

For 1/8 scale racers few dollars more for more reliable motor should not be an issue as T8 motors are $170 and Neu 1415 is just $180

Is the Neu 1415 a "closed design" motor or are there holes on the back.

wallot 09.20.2009 01:13 PM

1415 has fully closed 36mm can so as it's made for cars

My V2 rotor has just failed again, ESC is still fine. I'm starting to get rather annoyed with this Tekin stuff. Kinda feels as though we're Beta testers. Ok the warranty is good, but I have used the Tekin at 4 race meetings, and have not finished twice due to rotor failure. I want to just put an old trusty MMM back in it and a Medusa or a Neu, I have run two MMMs, 3 Medusas and a Neu, and have had no problems/failures, with the Tekin I've had two, with the same motor!

Main problem is I've run out of money now, so have to stick with the Tekin, which I don't really want to do. I want a refund really, it just feels as though the product wasn't tested by a wide enough range of people, which is why we're having all these failures in Europe.

Email is on the way to Tekin now...
